The staff was friendly, and the drinks came out quickly. The cappuccino was perfect, and the specialty matcha drink I ordered was good -- a little on the sweet side, so I'd customize it next time if you prefer something less sweet. They have a few tables and Wi‑Fi, which makes it a great spot to hang out or get a little work done. It's tucked away inside the Mojave Flea Trading Post, which makes the whole experience even more fun since there's so much to explore before or after grabbing your drink. I'm always trying my best to support a local business and have come by Mentosa before. I've only been shopping here and have never tried their coffee until today. I ordered the Madagascar vanilla latte w/ oat milk. Unfortunately it was overly sour and was way too sweet. For $8 plus tip a coffee should never be sour . Only came across Mentosa because we were browsing around the Mojave Flea Trading Post when we saw this long line and had to see what it was all about! I was hoping it to be good because they serve Nami Matcha (one of my fave matcha powders) but I might have set my expectations too high. I ordered a regular matcha latte ($8) with madagascar vanilla house made syrup ($0.50) and cold foam ($1). I'm wondering if I should have chosen either the syrup or the cold foam and not both as the flavors were a little overpowering and couldn't really taste the matcha. They've only been open for 2 months - but this place is such a great find off the strip. Drinks: - Matcha cortado ($5) was so good, I ordered a hojicha cortado ($5), Also delicious. Seeing the good reviews, I decided to get a matcha latte here despite the line on a Saturday. It's a tiny little spot inside a bigger store, which was nice to explore. Service was friendly enough and once I got my order in, it was fairly quick. Unfortunately, I thought this place was overrated for the price tag ($8!) and found my matcha latte more watery than milky. The matcha flavor was okay but it just didn't have that creamy texture that a matcha latte with whole milk usually has. I tried an iced matcha latte with oat milk, lightly sweetened, with coconut as an add on - not sure if it was like a coconut foam or blended into the matcha but I couldn't really taste it. I also felt that for the price ($9 something), it was above what I'm used to paying for matcha. I do appreciate the service and the fact that the staff was so friendly and helpful. I also really liked that I could ask for my drink to be lightly sweetened, since I try to avoid added sugar whenever possible. Perfectly smooth, rich, and creamy with the right amount of sweetness bold coffee flavor still comes through without tasting burnt or watered down. Sorry to say this fun, kind of funky, coffee spot inside the hip shopping store did not deliver for me. I'm a coffee guy, I go out somewhere almost every day. Three things to consider: no drip coffee, the Americano workaround was weak in flavor but most of all it cost just under $7 for about 4 oz which I feel is unfair but that's just my personal take. Great to have a new, fun place but it won't be on my list of places to share with other coffee loving friends. I do however wish them good success and glad to have tried it. read more
