I am a regular customer at Meow Tea and have always enjoyed visiting for drinks. However, I had a disappointing experience today. I understand that policies are important, but customers cannot follow rules they are not aware of, and the way they are communicated matters. I visited with my toddler and planned to spend some time in the cat area before purchasing our drinks, as drinks are not allowed inside the lounge. Before we reached the entrance, a staff member called out loudly, "Excuse me! Excuse me!" from behind the counter, drawing attention from others. She explained that customers must either purchase a drink or make a $5 donation before entering. I explained that we planned to buy drinks afterward, but she insisted payment had to be made first. I accepted this and purchased a drink. Afterward, she asked me to provide proof of my receipt or text confirmation before allowing entry. Once that was confirmed, she informed me that because two people--the toddler and I--were entering, I would need to purchase two drinks instead of one. While I respect the business's policies, the way they were presented felt unwelcoming and overly rigid. The repeated requirements made what should have been an enjoyable visit feel frustrating. As a returning customer, I left feeling discouraged and decided not to enter the cat area. I hope management will consider reviewing both the policy and the way it is communicated. Update: I wanted to update my review because I recently learned that you need to either purchase a drink from the café or make a donation/purchase from the store to enter the cat area. We've visited several times before and were able to see the cats without making a purchase, so we genuinely didn't realize there was a policy. On our most recent visit, my daughter and I were stopped before entering. I completely understand if this is the rule, but I wish it had been communicated a little more kindly. Boba/drinks were good but ok. Not "i-have-to/have-it". My nephew is autistic and liked playing with the cats. I just wish it was a little more than a just sitting watching them sleep or maybe playing with a stick. The room was very small. One of the cats scratched him. He was ok though. We didn't try to hold the cats after that first one. I loved the cat in the pet store part. That one was so gorgeous. Wanted to hold one. Bummer. I loved that this is attached to a store and the homemade treats looked so cute. I ran out of time as we were running late to get any. Came across Meow Tea in the same plaza as Tokyo Central and honestly it was such a cute experience. I got the MeowCo Mango drink before signing in to enter the cat area. The drink was refreshing and fruity, perfect while hanging out with all the kitties. The cat lounge was clean and there were so many friendly cats roaming around. You can really tell they take care of the cats here. It honestly feels less like a typical boba shop and more like a relaxing little cat hangout spot. If you've ever thought about adopting a cat, this is actually a really nice way to interact with them first and see their personalities. The boba here is solid! I got a thai tea and it was delicious! They have stools facing into the cat room and you have the option to go into the cat room if you'd like as well! From what I understand you have to either buy something from the pet store or the boba place to enter and you must leave your drinks outside of the cat room. Cute little place tucked in the corner of the little tokyo shopping center. The tea area is attached to the pet store that windows to the cat room. Overall small but clean. Tea is around average in price. To go into the cat room you just have to buy a drink and take it to the register and they let you in. One drink = one entry. You can pet the cats and spend time with the cats, need to sign waiver before and can't bring the drinks into the cats area. The tea place has a good amount of seating, and you can order online with snack pass if you want the most efficient ordering method. I think this is just a rebranding/reskinning of the original Miko's Boba. Most of the drinks and the menu are the same. Sometimes there's deals, just take a look at their social media. Generally, there's some form of BOGO whenever they do the adoption events on Sundays at the connected Miko's Pet Supplies. There's some taller seats where you can take a gander over and watch the kitties and some tables inside and out if you want to sit and study or do some work. You can always order for pick up. With Miko's Boba and this location too, I think my main issue is how sweet the drinks are even at 0% sugar. We got their Halloween grape slushy drink with popping boba and even after mixing it at the lowest level of sweetness, it was like drinking semi-diluted jam. So keep this in mind if you don't have a sweet tooth. To interact with cats, you have to go over to the pet supplies side. Overall, you're more there for the experience than anything. read more

I was totally surprised to find a cat room full of adorable cats! It was honestly the highlight of my day. They also partner with animal shelters, which is an amazing way to help the community. MeowTea is clean, cozy, and adorable. The Tropical Fruit Tea I ordered is yummy. The cats are well cared for and very friendly. The staff is very friendly as well. Miko's Pet Supplies (they're connected) is very clean and has a decent selection of pet goods. I would love to become a regular visitor and recommend this place to all cat lovers! read more

I really, really enjoyed my visit to Meow Tea. The Boba is tasty, but the best part is that your purchase will allow you to play with KITTIES! I am the mother of four beautiful felines and can't get enough. I love that folks (who can't have a kitty) have this option to play with the little ones. I'm pretty sure this place is new, if so wow where have I been living? I'm a local and everytime I go to Tokyo central I take my son (who's a toddler) to go see the cats from the window. He loves cats. But I'm allergic so we can't have any. Anyways, I happen to look up and see a sign for boba and if you know me you know I looooove boba. I walk in, I'm greeted by this man and as I'm looking over the menu he says, take your time I'll help you if you need anything or have any questions. It just felt so warm in there. I ended up ordering the taro slush. Soooo amazing. The flavors popped! My son loved it too and he's never had boba but I snuck in a little sip (don't tell dad). Let me just say, having a good boba spot in your area is top tier and this has definitely made it on the list of best boba spots in the city of West Covina. Note: they don't make it obvious but you have to sign a waiver AND they are really rude about demanding a $5 donation to interact with a cat or you have to buy a drink. Beware they will count the number of drinks and make sure it matches the number of people. Not a huge deal but be prepared to get crap from the staff if you don't do this immediately. What does suck though is they make you buy a drink if you even think about touching a cat and then tell you you can't take your drink in with you (which is understandable since there are cats around). But making customers buy product that they then can't have was pointless and really unfair. Here's a suggestion (allow people to buy their drinks and hang out with the animals, then allow them the option of getting their order before they set out). Nice concept for a business just really poor execution and service. Not worth the visit IMO, pick up drinks elsewhere and go visit a shelter.
