Tagliatelle is mixed in a cheese barrel and its only available on monday night. Its definitely one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Perfect for date night. They put on a show for you and I love that! Things I've had: Croque Madame, ham sandwich with an egg on top. You can choose fries or salad. Perfect for brunch and it was so good!!!! eating here will make you feel like you're in Europe. Ambience, food, decor, everything was on point! Beouf tartare, beef tartare with a qual egg and 12 year old aged balsamic. This was one of the best beef tartare ever. Great option for a nice light lunch or breakfast in the area. A variety of breakfast options including muffins, burritos, croissants, pumpkin bread, etc as well as other bakery options. The lunch menu is very small but has some nice options. I love the fried almonds - amazing starter. I also love the ferro and kale salad with Mint and add in the salmon. We enjoyed several different drinks off the menu, including mimosas, their special peche mignon (fruit ball in the middle - surprisingly not too sweet), coffee (nice and strong) and green tea for the hungover friend The honey and burrata caught my eye immediately - light crunchy crostinis with delicious burrata and super fresh honey. Came here for dinner on a Friday evening for a birthday dinner. Overall it was just okay for us. It was a cute place with a few tables inside and an extended patio seating outside. Where we sat was extremely dark. We were in the middle under this wooden chandelier that had a few specks of light coming through. So I had to bring out the flashlight on my phone in order to look at the menu. For cocktails, I ordered the Peche Mignon, which was very refreshing as it had this huge ice ball of fruits. Then my friends got a st. Germain cocktail which was also good and some kind of vodka martini they thought tasted watered down. We ordered family style for the food so we can try a little bit of everything: - Foie gras was our fave dish. Cooked nicely and flavorful. - Shrimp and crabmeat cocktail was okay, the shrimp was a little dry and the cocktail sauce I thought was a little too sweet. - Beef tartar was also just okay, it was a little bland and needed a pinch of salt. - Short ribs were not good. It was dry and bland. - Seafood paella was quite bad. Seafood on top was cooked nicely but the rice was really wet and mushy yet the rice itself was not cooked. Yuck! - Shrimp ravioli was the only other edible dish. We brought our own cake and when got the bill, there was an $18 service charge for the cake! Yikes! That's like half the price of the cake! You would think that as much as we spent on drinks and food, we would get complimentary cake cutting. read more

So we decided to do a weekend in Dallas and since we were staying at the Adolphus, yet The French Room was a bit too rich for our blood, we opted to see what other cool places were in the area. Sticking with the French theme, Mercat caught my eye on a yelp search. Walking in, I definitely knew I would like the place just by their patio. Just felt like a fun place to sit back and enjoy a few drinks. This was later confirmed when we sat down and the great view of town further complimented this already nice patio (as well as the cool spread that Mercat's neighbor, Saint Anne has). Our waiter promptly greeted us and recommended a couple of French 75's to start the night off, which were pretty damn good (we ended up having several). But, The Girlfriend and I were rather perplexed in what to order for our meal. Between their appetizers and main courses, there were many enticing choices. We chose the pragmatic route and went with the appetizers, so we could try more of these tasty dishes, de-facto tapas, if you will. Naturally, having an odd fascination with Scotch Eggs, I immediately ordered them when I saw them on the menu. They were dark brown in color and had a nice, spicy flavor to them. Almost as if Italian sausage is used in the mix. Definitely recommend. For our "main course," we went with: Un, Deux, Trois (cheese and meat tray) Prince Edward Island Mussels French Onion Soup Just as with the Scotch eggs, all the other dishes were delicious. The charcuterie tray looked good, as did their cheese tray, so we were in a bit of a dilemma (first world problems), so the Un, Deux, Trois was a great way to have both. The meats and cheeses were all quite delectable and unique, so we definitely didn't leave any for the crows. The mussels and French Onion Soup also did not disappoint, as both dishes had a nice, rich flavor. Also, the French Onion Soup is deceivingly large, so splitting it worked out well. To top it all off, we had some flan, which had a very profound, strong flavor, which I found to my liking. So a great spread, with great service, awesome food all for pretty reasonable prices (as far as French bistros go). This gave us an opportunity to indulge a bit without having to break the bank and turned out to be the highlight of a fun weekend. A little piece of Paris in Dallas. The atmosphere they have created feels almost out of place here which is a great thing. The size of the restaurant and menu are ideal - not too big, not too small. The Croque Madame was excellent and won't leave you hungry! My only complaint was that the egg white was undercooked, but they quickly corrected that for me by making it over-easy. My friend said his green chile crepe was tasty. I'd probably avoid the standard eggs & bacon breakfast here since there are so many other more interesting menu items. Eggs benny is on my mind for next time. Coffee and my latte were good, but the table next to us ordered a Peche Mignon which looked awesome. My first visit here and I opted for the restaurant week menu. The steak tar tar for me was flavorless and probably needed a bit a salt. The tar tar I've had is Bowen House and this is very mediocre. My guest got the mussels and they were awesome! I highly recommend them. The steak frites were not good. I ordered medium and got one side well done, the middle medium and the other side rare. The steak wasn't seasoned and badly needed salt. Today is my bday and my friend who paid for my meal and apologized and promised to take me somewhere else on another day. Wife and I came by here with our little one for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon at around 12 pm. There is a parking garage across the restaurant on 2525 Mckinnon that allows visitors to park for free for 2 hours. Use it! The restaurant's patio was mostly full with a couple of empty tables. We opted to sit inside by the window near the door (Behind the Hostess area). The hostess was friendly and sat us at the spot we picked. It seems like there was only one waiter - Kenneth - catering to our area at the time, and the dude looked overwhelmed. He brought us water and the menu and didn't come back for what seemed to be like FOREVER. We also had small fruit bugs flying around - tormenting us - while we sat waiting to order. I quickly sent a couple of them to their graves with some masterful hand Karate chops. A point to note: There is a menu written on the wall at the top of the bar...its out-dated..so don't even bother referring to it. I asked our waiter and he said they need to bring it down since it confuses customers. When the waiter FINALLY came back, we placed the following order: -1 Baileys coffee -1 fruit bowl -1 fried almonds -1 Chicken Paillard Wife didn't find anything from the lunch menu that she liked and just did the baileys coffee/almonds/fruit bowl. I got the Chicken Paillard. I really didn't care for the Chicken Paillard, The chicken was bone dry and bland (tasteless)...in my opinion. I thought it would have been a little juicy with some flavor since I've had one before at a different restaurant and it was a LOT better. The fried almonds were good. The fruit bowl was O.K, just had berries and some of the berries were not as sweet as wife expected them to be. Wife loved the Baileys coffee...i think that is the only thing she liked from the whole lunch experience. I know they have a good dinner menu and I've read the reviews form other Yelpers which are mostly positive. I really wanted to give a better review, but it is what it is. Fell in love with their green tea croissant. The green tea filling was so smooth and just right amount of sweetness. I also ordered their croque madame, which is top ordered entree. It was really good. There was two layers of hams and cheese top with sunny setup egg and their special sauce. The reason I check out this place was because their entrance and the patio. Totally instagram worthy. There is a chess board by the restaurant. Parking around here can be a little difficult. I love the atmosphere and food here. It can get busy on the weekends so make a reservation if you want to dine in. I think the quiche at Mercat is quite possibly the best I've ever had. It is fluffy, light and HUGE. Many restaurants serve up a quiche half the size of Mercat's so I was stunned by how they got it rise so much. It's beautifully seasoned and the ingredients are always fresh. I've also had the lobster roll (it was a special) and I found it just ok. It was cold and not the lobster roll I was expecting (buttery and warm). I would stick with tried and true items on the menu. Plating is gorgeous so the food here is often Instagram worthy and delicious. The seating situation can be tight indoors so if you can, grab a table outside. The waitstaff are very friendly and knowledgeable. I can spend a whole morning here just chatting with my girlfriends over brunch. read more

We were originally sat at the worst table in the entire restaurant, right by the bathroom in the back, even though there were plenty of other seats available. We asked to be moved and thankfully, we were moved to a sunny spot in the front room. We ended up waiting around 25 minutes for our drink orders to be taken, which took another 15/20 min for the coffees to come out (order was wrong) and around 45 minutes for our food order to be taken. Perfect evening at Mercat Bistro. The ambiance is really great and the service is top notch. They have complementary valet parking, which is always great. For appetizers, we ordered ricotta/honey and shishito peppers. I really loved the combination of homemade ricotta cheese and the honey!! Shishito peppers were very flavorful, and they were great addition to our main dishes. I also ordered Peche Mignon, which is their signature cocktail drink. It is a mixture of Champaign and ball of frozen fruits and orange juice. It was so refreshing!! I would definitely order it again next time. For entrees, we ordered Moules frites and steak frites. Mussels and fries were really awesome. The steak was ordered medium, but it was a little over cooked (medium well). Overall, everything was great. I am craving that ricotta & honey dish right now. We took our friends from out of town here for a non-TexMex/non-BBQ brunch and were pleasantly surprised by Mercat Bistro! Arrived a little before 11am and were immediately sat down. Alexia, our server, was very helpful and attentive - great customer service overall. We all had the shaken espressos - where has this caffeinated beverage been all my life?! Food wise, we had 2 Green Chile Crepes, Eggs Benedict, and Provencal Egg White Omelette. The star of brunch was definitely the Green Chile Crepe - which was basically a fluffy cloud of deliciousness. Tucked away in this little alley off of Harwood- it's worth checking out. The ambience is probably the biggest draw because the food, although good quality, is nothing special. We came on a Sunday morning for brunch and sat in their little gazeebo. They also have an outdoor area that has plenty of seating. Service was great! Most people valeted their cars but we somehow managed to park in the garage next door? We got the quiche Lorraine with breakfast potatoes and the strawberry mascarpone crepes. Both were delicious- the quiche Lorraine was VERY rich, we couldn't finish it. Overall a nice brunch spot that wasn't too crowded for good quality brunch staples.
