The only thing I felt was missing was a stronger seafood presence. I would love to see classics like calamari or a spaghetti frutti di mare on the menu. That would really round it out and take it to the next level for me.

The first red flag probably should have been the nearly empty parking lot, to the point where I honestly wondered if the restaurant was even open. We started with the cheesy garlic bread appetizer, and I was immediately disappointed. It looked more like something I would have gotten in a high school cafeteria lunch line than at an Italian restaurant. It barely had any garlic flavor, and it just wasn't what I expected. Then our entrees arrived. My shrimp scampi was completely lacking flavor, the shrimp were overcooked, and the pasta was sitting on a pool of water that made the whole dish feel off. My husband's carbonara was actually enjoyable, and that was really the only highlight of the meal. After the other dishes, I didn't even feel brave enough to try dessert. Also... can we talk about the TV playing a video on a loop of someone reviewing the restaurant and basically claiming it was the best Italian restaurant in the area? Someone definitely invested in that marketing, but unfortunately, based on our experience, it did not live up to the hype. I really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately it missed the mark.

How cool is this? Crowded Barrel is funded by whiskey fans. It's done so through an online method…read more So essentially all of the people backing Crowded are owners in a way. The truest sense of crowd funding comes to life and seemingly thriving. Distillery tours are available for $35 and I strongly encourage folks to give them a visit and check out what's going on. The tasting room is cool + rad. It's like spending time with the greatest people you know. Or maybe it's just the great booze that makes it feel that way? Lol, I kid. It's totally a combo of both. They don't just make whiskey, they've got a gin, tequila (a few) and a vodka as well. I'm a big fan of the vodka. Haven't tried the gin yet. This is a Dripping Springs gem.

The business is tucked away off the road in a nice neighborhood but it's worth the exploration and drive. The interior of the bar is nicely decorated with a consistent midevil/knights of the round table theme that is tastefully executed with music that wasn't loud and cold AC! The bartenders were knowledgeable and expedient while providing a detailed overview of the spirits lineup. Most importantly, the bartenders did not pressure us into purchasing bottles, memberships, or noticeably more expensive drinks. As a result, I was inclined to spend more money! I'll definitely return to CWB and wish I would have found it earlier.
