Searching for a hotel in Austin back in August on various websites to attend a wedding in October, 2022. Come to find out, the wedding was scheduled the weekend of the Formula 1 race. Every hotel that I had stayed in the past was completely booked. I went onto Hotels.com and found Meridian 98/Sonesta was available for $561 per night (4 nights) up front, non-refundable. So, I tried the Meridian 98/Sonesta website and the rooms were $621 per night. So, I booked through Hotels.com. The room was quiet. Nothing fancy. No bellman. Housekeeping was upon request. After the 2nd night, 3rd day, I called housekeeping to request fresh towels. The voicemail box was full and I was to "try again." Small snack shop. Restaurant/bar on 6th floor open after 4:00, but never went. Security was good, as far as having to use your room key to operate the elevator on whatever floor you are staying. Good location in proximity to shopping. I would never pay this much again for a hotel of this caliber. I have been fortunate enough to stay at the Four Seasons in downtown Austin, Lakeway resort and Renaissance at the Arboretum several years ago and didn't pay this much for a room. In talking to several people at the wedding, it appears all the hotels in Austin were price-gouging all of us because of the Formula 1 race. read more

We stayed at the hotel for a wedding that was in the area. The room was ideal but found other amenities to be lacking. The one star review is for the restaurant. I've never had a more underwhelming breakfast. I honestly think they use powdered eggs. They had no taste. Also not so comfortable seating if you have children. It is a lounge, not a restaurant. We had high hopes but they fell flat at Meridian 98. Do yourself a favor & skip the breakfast/restaurant. read more

As far as hotel bars go, this one is pretty solid and is a reason I choose this particular hotel. Huge swing of locals mixed with large groups either having a conference or golf trips were in full force this time around that I stayed there. It can get packed sometimes, like close to over a hundred people in the bar- which for a hotel based bar is unheard of. Pretty cool walking in thinking it is dead and it is jamming! Food is as good as you'd expect, it's as good as your local medium / high end bar, speciality drinks are between $10-13 each and happy hour gets you $2 off anything liquid. I had four of the Buzz's which is vodka and muddled strawberries. Excellent. It is pricey so don't expect it to be cheap and come expecting airport bar type prices. Worth a stop. read more

The swanky parts of life are not necessarily the most enjoyable. Think back to your teenage years, the years of piss and vinegar. the years that included eye rolling, and punching random, unsuspecting walls out of anger. Those were great times. Yet, just like the true color of your hair, these things must come to pass. You trade in the concert tee for a Banana Republic polo. You trade in the 2am after party, for the 10pm "reasonable" bedtime. All that money that goes out to "recreation", gets used to pay your bills. The mattress that sang songs of a frequent flyer club, becomes the home of the one person you know has your back, through thick and thin. As I sit, overshadowed by the comfortable leather chair at Meridian 98. A Jameson in one hand, and a smile on my face. I wonder if she know this is what I am thinking. I need this restaurant to move from on top of the hotel in which it sits, to somewhere right down the street from me. I can not say enough good things in this review. It truly was the perfect date night. i order drinks that are pretty straight forward, but trust me, it has been a rough road at times. The Jameson and Ginger Ale's were perfect. My gorgeous other half had the Beekeeper. One sip and I immediately regretted my routine beverage. Three dishes were ordered. This is exactly why we did not make it to an after dinner engagement. 1.Chicken avocado sliders with sweet potato fries. Perfectly done pulled pork. I loved that the fries were shoe-string-ish. 2. Bacon wrapped gulf shrimp. Ok, a little overdone, but what it lacked in that department, it completely made up for in flavor. They were slightly candied. Stupid delicious. 3. Tuna sliders with tempura french beans. I'm gonna say this with total conviction. I'm not a huge tuna slider fan. Yet, the french beans were possibly one of the best sides I've ever had in my life. You must get them. No if's, and's, or but's. You must. I truly wish i could remember our waitress's name. She was attentive, laughed at our off-color jokes, quick, helpful, and gorgeous. Not that the last part matters, but I like to bring it up if it applies. So, after this unbelievably long diatribe. I hope you walk away from this review with this little thought. Im surprised about the negative reviews for service, because the best part of my experience tonight has been staff (especially Adam, he was very cool and helpful). This is a dark, sexy, mature (no hipsters in sight) space on the top floor of the new Sonesto hotel. They seem to have a very extensive bar but we only ordered food which was lacking, hence the low stars. We dined at the bar, and ordered the confit wings with garlic and brown butter sauce and bacon wrapped shrimp. The wings were virtually flavorless, it was pretty bad. I had a couple bites and stopped eating them completely. The bacon wrapped shrimp were better, but that's not saying much--$14 for five pieces, I was hoping to be a bit more enamored with it. Another bartender asked how we liked everything, and I honestly told her we were not fans of the wings. She offered to bring something else out which we declined as we did not have the time. Adam returned and said he would take the wings off our bill, which I appreciated. Overall, this place is nice and I thought the service was fantastic. Stars deducted simply because I did not enjoy the food we chose from the menu, but if you are looking for a nice place to lounge while you grab a cocktail, this isn't a bad option. read more

Just stopped by to check the place out---had a beer at the bar and some good conversation with some of the locals. Didn't try any of the food but from what I could see being served, it looked pretty good. The view is spectacular----look off in the distance and you can see Mansfield Dam. Nice relaxing place-----will probably return and try the food. read more

WOW! I'd give them 6 stars if I could! This fun place is just what Bee Cave needed. It's bright and happy and the music is lively and not too loud. The small plate offerings are so yummy - I had the tuna sliders (3) and it was more than I could eat! The shrimp and blue grits make a beautiful plate and are pure comfort food. Happy Hour wine is $6 and they are incorporating Texas beers into their menu. When we got there at 5ish on a Friday night, the place was about 1/3 full, but by the time we left (6:30 ish) it was full, and starting to get a little loud. Outdoor seating on the decks will be fabulous once this summer heat has passed. There's plenty of free parking in the parking garage. read more

I invited a large group of friends to enjoy Happy Hour. Although the kitchen did a wonderful job & the Roof Top Bar is attractive, The Bar Tender refused to acknowledge us. Getting any service from her was almost impossible. The bar tender was also shouting at staff & simply ruined the experience. Even the staff did not like her. Sadly she is still there. Meridian 98 is a beautiful terrace bar overlooking hill country. It is a popular place with a great ambiance. We ordered the coconut shrimp and the chicken sliders. Both were very good. Their happy hour offers discount drinks and appetizers. They also have live music from Wednesday thru Fridays. Their service is excellent and they have a good selection of wine. read more

Such a disappointing and frustrating experience! I planned a little Mom's Night Out here with 7 ladies last month. We all live in the area, but have somehow never been before. We arrived at 8:00pm on a Saturday. Beautiful weather and a beautiful sunset just starting, but oddly enough there were hardly any guests there (now we understand why!). Upon arrival no one greeted us, we found a server who quickly confirmed that we could sit wherever we wanted. We waited for a greeting, menus, anything... but no one came. After over 10 minutes a person in my party got up and hunted down that same server. She obtained menus and brought them back for our group. We selected our drinks but over twenty minutes elapsed and still no service. We weren't in a huge hurry (since one more friend was still coming), but we were starting to wonder. After 20 minutes of waiting another person from my party got up, hunted down the server, and got him to come back to our table and take our drink order. No explanation, no apology, nothing from the server. This is pretty much how our entire night went. Took forever to get drinks and each time someone needed something or wanted another drink, it would take us forever to get someone to assist. We were so polite and patient (I used to be a server in college), but the staff almost had an attitude like we were burdening them by placing orders. We were all hungry, but opted to not even bother ordering food because of how slow and horrible the service was. It made complete sense why this place was dead on a beautiful Saturday summer evening. I was embarrassed that I selected this location for our group to meet up. There are definitely much better places to go to in town. I would NOT recommend visiting this establishment. read more

Let me preface this by saying my expectations are not high by any means when trying out a restaurant in Bee Caves. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Our waitress really new her wines and made excellent suggestions for the small plates we ordered. The bacon wrapped shrimp and risotto balls were my favorite. read more

This rooftop bar is convenient if you're staying in the hotel. If not, it's nothing to waste your time on. We paid $25 for 2 drinks so, get ready to pull out your wallets if you visit. The staff was friendly though! Overall, probably won't visit it again (even though I'm staying in the hotel tonight) because of the prices. read more

(Only giving a 1star because they don't have a 0 option). 5 night stay at the hotel, which was great, love the hotel, came up to the bar for a drink while waiting on my boyfriend to get back from a seminar. Walked in, was not greeted. Bartender stood there staring at me. I asked if they had everything for a fresh blueberry martini, was told yes. She begins to make it which cheap blueberry vodka, no fresh blueberries in site. I get carded, she takes my card and looks at it then me, than the card then me, for what seemed like 10 mins. It was clearly my face. (Piece of advice, if you work in a hotel, be prepared to get drivers licenses and IDs from multiple states and learn how to read them quickly). I asked to keep a tab open if I went on the patio and she was very rude about it. Tab only open if you stay at the bar. Pretty view but not worth it. Anyway.. $15 wasted. The drink tasted like a cheap sports bar martini. Will not go back there. read more
