One of the worst upscale restaurants I have ever been into! I don't even know where to begin! The whole neighborhood is dead, no crowds on Friday night! The restaurant seemed nice in terms of design but service and food were horrible! The were like 8 tables with people and 5-6 waitresses. However, our waitress was not around to find, our food took one hour and 10 minutes to come! The hamachi was smelly, you could say it wasn't fresh. The oyster was good actually, that is the only thing we liked there. And Duck breast oh my god, HORRIBLE, SMELLY and OILY! So so bad, when you pay $50-60 for a duck breast the least you expect is not to taste like Walmart chicken breast, but this was even worse! I can't give them any credit, they are making everything beautiful and well-presented but the moment you put them in your mouth you feel betrayed! I was really embarrassed in front of my friends for suggesting this place ... DO NOT YOU THIS TO YOURSELF, YOU DESERVE BETTER!! read more

A great meal and service on a beautiful outdoor patio. We've been to all of Chef Borges' Dallas restaurants, and this one continues his pattern of excellence. We tried: - Our Daily Bread (5/5). It changes daily, but last night was sourdough with golden raisins and fennel. Spectacular. - Beach Cheese (3/5). Nice, but I would have liked more lime and chile honey. A bit one-note. - Purslane and Garden Salad (4/5). Picked from their garden that day. A good green goddess dressing, but maybe a touch more acid and salt? - Braised Squid (5/5). So tender and sweet, and that polenta cake was something else. - Calabresa Sausage (5+/5). The best part of the meal. Intense with smoked chiles, and perfectly set off with pickled, fermented AND fresh peppers. - Pork Loin and Belly (4/5). The pork was good, but the knockout was the barbecued beets! I'd come back just for those. - Curau with a glass of Sauternes (5/5). Curau, which I'd never had before, is a homey Brazilian corn pudding. Junior Borges is an incredibly gifted chef bringing a fresh twist on Brazilian cuisine. Many staples I've enjoyed around Brazil have been reinvented with his special flare. The quiejo frito with Thai chili is fantastic. He special made a batch of pão de queijo for us and came to our table when he saw my brother's Flamengo hat. (They share the same Rio futbol team) A great spot with impeccable service and atmosphere. A must try for any food lover. 5 stars for sure. read more

The TLDR for my experience was, this is a perfect corporate lunch/dinner destination if you want talk to where you went and not necessary what you had. The portions are small for the price. Beautiful restaurant with a unique menu. Cocktails were great. What we had: Daily bread: 10/10 one of the best breads I've had. The butter is to die for and the peppers are an interesting pairing Cheese on a stick: 6/10 this is an interesting bite but wasn't blown away. I would say get one for two people so you can just have a taste Beef Tartare: 4/10 this may be because I'm picky with beef tartare but didn't live up to the hype I've read about. Kohlrabi Caesar: 7/10 the texture is super interesting and this is a great palette cleanser before entrees Heirloom Tomato Agnolotti: 6/10 I was really excited about this but I think the tomato water overpowered how well made the pasta was. Just not as flavorful with the burrata. Wagyu Picahna: 10/10 this was really surprising. Out of everything on the menu right now, I highly recommend this dish. It was perfectly cooked and the thin layer of fat on the outside was extremely flavorful. My favorite dish by far I think this is the type of place that can be good vs amazing based on the time you go and what you order (similar to Homewood). The daily bread... that is all I need to say. It is 12/10 amazing. Might just be the best I've ever had! The coconut dessert is also very delicious. Took over 40 mins to get sat with a reservation, they lost our reservation after checking in and sat multiple people that came in after us. After getting sat it took 10 minutes for a server to come by and another 20 minutes on top of that to get a drink. 2 courses of our 6 course meal came out before they even asked what we wanted to drink. Clearly understaffed. We were sat directly next to the violinist which had extremely bright lights shining on our table, so much so l could not look at my wife. He opened the door next to him because he was hot and a cold breeze was constantly pouring over our table. I didn't have a napkin until our second course, multiple courses were brought out before silverware, and no one seemed to know what was going on including the GM. During a set menu, at one point the GM asked how our "pasta or ravioli or duck" was because he had no clue what we had just eaten. All around terrible experience and will not be back. $400+ down the drain for the worst experience i've had in dallas. read more

Best waiter I have experienced in AGES! Forgive me that I can't remember his name but, "Super jovial bearded man who has an 8 week old baby with an amazingly descriptive way of describing food," was AMAZING! We put our food choices in our waiters, ahem, hands, and let him steer us in the right direction seeing as we were from out of town. He did not lead us astray, and all of the dishes paired beautifully with our very delicious and boozy beverages. The only thing to note, is that this area of town seems to be difficult for Uber and Lyft to gain access to after a certain hour. But that's certainly not the restaurants fault. It was great! Saw Meridian featured on Instagram @dallasites101 and wanted to check it out since I love Brazilian food. My best friend is Brazilian, so I brought her along to test it out. Service was incredible all around. From the valet to the hostesses to our server, everyone was incredibly friendly. Our server Micah really made the night for us. He was incredibly funny and made some great recommendations. I ended up getting the Wagyu Picanha, and honestly it was good but did not taste like Wagyu to me. It was cooked a perfect medium rare and paired nicely with the fried eggplant, but it just left a little something to be desired in terms of quality. I definitely dont think it was worth $58. Could have just been my piece of meat but if im paying that much for wagyu, I expect it to be up to standard. My Brazilian friend did approve of the moqueca and caipirinhas, so Meridian definitely passed the ultimate test. I will be back! read more

Terrible customer service. The food is good but the waiter spilled a full glass of red wine all over one of our party. On the final bill they charged for the glass of wine that he spilled. Would've been nice if they at least comped an appetizer or something else on the bill but they didn't do that either. I reached out to them after about this by email and there was no response which further highlights how bad their customer service is. read more

For an anniversary, birthday, or other special event, we love Meridian. Start off with a cocktail, I love the Caipirinha, and dive into the appetizers. This is my favorite part of the menu. Got a reservation for my birthday in the dining room. We parked in the garage and it was an easy walk to the restaurant. It was 8:30 on a Tues evening, so the restaurant wasn't very full and was emptying out over time, we were pretty much the last people out. The restaurant is very, very, very cold. It was 73 degrees out when we arrived so I came with thin pants and short sleeves under a thin 3/4 sleeve cardigan and was immediately freezing. Come with a thick sweater, scarf or blanket! I did feel better after having some hot food. One thing to note is that if you are seated in the dining room you must do the prix fixe menu. You can order a la carte if you are at the bar. Since it wasn't very full, when I asked about a la carte, they offered to let us move to the bar, but we decided to stay in the dining room and do the fixed menu. We also added on the beach cheese and oysters. The food mostly came out at a good pace, with a really long break before the main dish, but we were on a fun date and not really hungry by that point, so we didn't mind. This review is for the menu in Feb 2023. The daily bread was a rosemary focaccia. It was very oily but really tasty, crispy on top, soft inside. They brought a delicious lardo, an equally tasty butter, and an oil dip. Got half full on bread but it was so worth it. The oysters were out of this world -- I usually am a purist, don't like oysters with much seasoning, but the thai chile, gooseberry, and rosé mignonette were perfection, so smooth. Beach cheese was fun and tasty, but I probably wouldn't get it again, it was a lot. One generous stick was sufficient for my partner and me to share. First course: ora king salmon and empada both were wonderful. Second course: yuca gnocchi was okay, but I didn't feel like it was really worth the $30 upgrade. It WAS covered generously in truffles, but I've had a lot of truffle pasta in my life, and I didn't really feel like this dish played to the truffle's strengths. It was kind of carelessly scattered dry on top of the gnocchi, which was perfectly cooked, fluffy and crisp on the outside. My partner's mezzaluna pasta was really tasty. My partner got the moqueca. I saw in another review that someone thought it was really spicy, but the server said that it was "very flavorful and spiced" but not really spicy at all. I agree with the server, it was not spicy (I'm sensitive to spice) except maybe to people who can't take any spice. It was delicious and unique. The prawns were very tasty -- don't be too precious to suck out the juice of the head, that was the best part! I got the quail and it was just okay. The linguica overpowered the quail. The yucca puree was amazing though. My partner got the brigadiero dessert (did they spell it wrong on purpose? I speak Portuguese, it's brigadeiro) and swore it was amazing. I couldn't have it due to a hazelnut allergy, but I was really pleased with the acai sorbet which was light and refreshing and tart and exactly what I wanted after a heavy dinner. By the way, they handled my allergies really well and were able to tell me exactly what to avoid and what was safe, and let the chefs in the kitchen know about them. I felt very safe, unlike at other high-end restaurants that have unnecessarily caused me a trip to a medical facility with their lack of information and carelessness. I was a little uncertain about this restaurant after reading a spate of bad reviews, but I didn't agree with them. The food was creative and delicious, beautiful presentation, and I chalk up my "okay" reviews of some of it to personal taste (though I did dock a star for that, but also because the restaurant is so cold). All the food was really interesting, and the lovely thing about this restaurant is that they rotate menus and basically force you to taste a lot of it with their prix fixe menu -- something that seemed inconvenient to me at first, but I was happy about at the end. What a fantastic meal we had tonight!! From the best slightly dirty vodka martini I have had in Dallas to the amazing food, presentation and service in a very cool atmosphere!! (wished we have taken pictures) We started with the Grilled Beach Cheese, Kohlrabi Caesar, Blue Prawn Moqueca, ending the meal with yucca coconut cake for dessert and coffee. Everything we had was a master piece that included fresh herbs and wonderful sauces that elicited a melody of our taste buds...including the coffee!! Made our reservation on Resy, for same day 8:30pm. We were pleased to get in same day on Friday evening. After being seated by the very sweet hostess our waiter came to the table and got us started on drinks. She didn't have much to say only asked quick direct questions. Which was fine I don't a waiter to be super chatty, actually prefer when they are not. Our drinks arrived and we were ready to order. After we put in our requests, suddenly were her entired attitude changed. I guess when you order the $95 octopus your treatment is drastically different. We got her name, told if we needed anything,, you know the normal nicities. Order took over an hour to arrive at our table. Sadly the asparagus and octopus where burnt. I can appreciate a good char but half the tentacles were not eatable. The mushroom was bomb however and dessert was wonderful. Def recommend seating on the patio. Wish I didn't feel like we were treated differently when assumed Tip was increased. :/ read more

Today I was surprised: the creative menu, the presentation, the combination of flavors and the intensity and freshness of the ingredients. Delicious food completely overshadowed by a painfully slow service experience. From the time we were sat at our corner table, it took about ten minutes before our server came to our table to greet us, an indication of how our experience would be paced. As our dinner crawled along, I saw the table next to us turn over twice. By the time we were finished up, we had been at our table for just shy of two and a half hours! The food was really great, but the incredibly slow pacing of our server and the long waits in between courses are a deal breaker. Anyone who gives this place less than five stars should not be trusted. Amazing. Good location and great ambiance. From the moment you enter, until you leave, you are greeted by very nice staff. You walk in and can immediately see some wonderful looking aged meet and a friendly bartender with great cocktails at hand. The cocktails range from light to stiff. I had 4 and all I would get again. The bread was wonderful. Usually the bread is a filler but totally worth it. That was followed by the "Caesar" salad which was actually a radish... I think ... either way, blew my mind. Each part was amazing and the whole thing really came together. This was followed by octopus and summer beans. It was a wonderful combination. The octopus had a little spice and a wonderful broth. The beans were crisp with a cool yogurt sauce. A match made in heaven. It was too bad it was 11pm because the coconut cake would have been great with coffee, but I would have been up all night. The appetizers were great with a unique and complex taste (the beach cheese is served with honey and herbs; the fritters with prosciutto, pickled veggies, and a red spicy-ish sauce). The scarpinocc pasta was rich and truly delightful - it is both buttery and fresh (pesto, lemony). The pasta portion is not similar to what you get at an Italian restaurant. For starters, we ordered the sesame garlic pancakes, beach cheese (aromatic herbs were amazing), red crab toast (really tasty) and brioche (daily bread for today). All were delicious - with the standout being the red crab toast and brioche. For mains, we got potato gnocchi, occhi, blue prawn moqueca and fried potatoes. They were all delicious, inventive, fresh and impressive. Service was excellent! Our waiter was so knowledgeable, helpful and attentive.
