My family and I made a reservation to eat here after my graduation ceremony from UK. They didn't have a table for us in the main dining room right away so we went ahead and sat in the bar. We had a great time. The food was good (even though mine took awhile longer than everyone else's) and it was a great atmosphere. The restaurant and food is very good, but I would never, ever recommend using this restaurant for an event or dinner program. Unlike every other nice restaurant in Lexington and the surrounding areas, the event manager Alex is not flexible in working with you. They will require a minimum number of people PLUS a food minimum, unlike every other nice restaurant around. Even if you guaranteed to spend over the food minimum, they will still charge you for the people that did not show. I would highly recommend using Jeff Ruby's, Malone's, Tony's, or ANY other fine restaurant in Lexington over the Merrick Inn. We go here on special occasions for dinner. There are several different dining rooms & they each one are small & cozy. It feels like you're eating dinner at grandmas. I love coming here because I know the staff will treat us like rock stars & take very good care of us! The staff & valets are top notch ppl. I order the fried chicken, with mashed potatoes & whatever vegetable available. The portions are huge & I always have leftovers. For some reason the leftovers are even better the next day! Weve come here a couple times after going to Keeneland and had two completely different experiences but both were good! We had an intimate room inside the first time and then sat outside the second time. They had live music playing which was a big hit at out table! Food was great had both the salmon and the hot brown. Friendly staff, relaxing upscale atmosphere without feeling stuffy, and very tasty food all around. Our table tried a variety of things on the menu - from the scallops (big, flavorful, cooked just right), grouper, seafood nachos, prime rib, and seared tuna appetizer - all were quite satisfying. We were seated easily without a reservation in the bar area - the only complaint was the dim lighting. But some may find this ambiance somewhat romantic - or perhaps you don't really want to see who's sitting across from you. This Lexington haute is a little hidden gem. My husband and I just moved to Lexington and had our five year anniversary dinner here. The waitstaff was very accommodating and the food was excellent. We enjoy the patio in the summer. Great atmosphere for relaxing. Also, they serve Lobster nachos which are a delicious appetizer consisting of lobster and crab meat, corn, black beans, tomato, cilantro, onion and cheesy deliciousness over corn chips. June 11, 2014 - Dinner Excellent service and food. Truly enjoyed my dinner. I ate at the bar overlooking the pool. Bar tenders were extremely friendly and engaging. They made a perfect Beefeaters martini and Makers Mark Mint Julep. For dinner it was the 8 oz Filet Mignon, medium rare with string beans. The filet was served medium rare as ordered. Tender and very tasty. I also had their wedge salad with their home made blue cheese. Again very well done! I would go back in a heart beat. I was in Lexignton 3 nights, this was my 3rd night in town. My only regret is I didn't discover this restaruant sooner. You won't be disappointed. Fred read more

Excellent service. Nice Heirloom Tomato Salad. Nice wine. And then downhill. House salad had surprise hard boiled eggs in it. Smelled awful. Hubby & I were accusing one another and then the waiter of passing gas until we bit into the salads & realized there was egg. Then I got the pasta which was over cooked, drenched in sauce such that it was almost resembling a cream soup and also had canned artichoke hearts. Really? Canned artichoke hearts? Come on, "fine dining". Hubby had the fried chicken. It was ok. Nothing special. For the price & the unhealthy calories, it had better be good. It wasn't. read more

First let me say the food was good, the drink was mediocre but the management is very shady. I went on April 30 and I parked in the valet parking but it was before the valet was working so they didn't actually park my car but my car was in that area. As you can see from the pictures my car got hit and there were cameras right behind my car and all I did was ask management if I could view the camera. They first said the owner was the only one who could pull it up and they would call me the next day. I never heard from them so I called them that night. Then their story changed to they couldn't pull up that particular time frame so we have the camera people coming in the next day and they would give me a call. The next day I did not hear from them so I called them that evening again and then their story changed to well it'll be a week before our IT people can look at it and will give you a call. As of today May 13 I still have not heard from them. I never once accused them or said it was their fault. All I asked was to see the camera footage since there were 2 cameras right behind my car. Very shady!! Why wouldn't they want to help a customer? read more

Returned in September and met friends at the bar. The ambiance is excellent, with the bar open to the outside and pool area. Service was very good. The Grouper Fingers cannot be beat! The Filet with Grits also amazing. The bar menu has great appetizer options at good pricing. I recommend the bar if you are looking for something more relaxed or if you are on a tighter budget. I absolutely love the valet parking. Save the fuss of looking for a parking spot and just pull up to the front door! read more

Stopped in on a Friday night to catch up with friends and I was so surprised to see the new enclosed bar by the pool! It is carpeted, quiet, cozy and filled with awesome wait staff! The food was very good and our server was very nice and efficient. We sat inside where it was a little too dark for us. There are two other outdoor areas, one of which is newer and looked to be the one to choose if ambience is important to you. The clientele were generally 50+ years old. This place is awesome! My wife and I went here for her birthday and it was great. I ordered the 16 ounce steak my wife got the KY hotbrown, both were delicious. The steak could be cut with a fork. The atmosphere was very laid back. Dress business casual and you will feel right at home. Our waitress was very professional and nice.
