Although, I did wish I would have chose 4 scoops of Japchae rather than half and half of the Mac salad. I didn't care too much for their Mac salad, which was disappointing because I usually love Hawaiian style Mac salad, but this one was a little different. I'm often nearby at the Hyatt Regency doing events or having meetings. So when my colleague asked if I wanted to get korean takeout from nearby, I was a little shocked. Little did I know, I would drive past this tiny place every single time I'm there. It's located on Uluniu Ave (street you go down to get to Hyatt) and just one block up! Took us a min or two to walk there. It's an extremely tiny joint, so don't expect to get a table to eat there. Although, there are cement tables and stools right outside that you could. Greeted by a young man who was very friendly and willing to help make our decisions easier. My friend recommended getting the spicy stir fry. Ok, I'll get the same since it's a little different than your normal bbq chicken or beef. Each place, you have the option to choose your sides. In the back, I could see a korean lady whipping up our goods. I'm assuming this was the young mans mom... taped up against the wall of the display case and such were some specials. They have bbq ribs! That's interesting! Maybe I'll try that next time. Hahha. Ok, back to the food. The spicy stir fry was delicious. Because it was a special, we only got to choose 2 sides, which was fine by me since it was a nice size plate. Decided to go with the japchae (noodles) and kimchee. The stir fry came with chunks of chicken mixed with bell peppers, cabbage and onions simmered in a red chili and miso sauce. It was soooooo goooood! The japchae tasted like how my family makes it and the kimchee had lots of flavor going on. My tummy was very happy! There isn't much parking nearby, unless you get lucky and score street parking. I would suggest calling your order ahead so you can run in and grab your food and not have to wait. Definitely will be back to this korean joint to try more dishes. They were open for walk ins and took approximately 5-10 min to make per order. There is currently no seating. I've been coming to Waikiki for 11 years and Me's was a regular stop because it was delicious, cheap and huge portions. Three years ago, this was 5 stars for the above reasons. Just tried it yesterday and I'm disappointed. I don't know if ownership changed, but the place definitely has. You still get huge portions. The price is higher - which I always thought it should be. My issue is the quality. The main dishes were still delicious, but my go to Mac salad was overcooked and tasted "off." In addition to the increased price, I have to pay an additional .25 for hot sauce...which I didn't realize was no longer included in the meal and it was too busy to pay when picking up. Then the cabbage kimchi was simply not good and was very sour and bitter. I've eaten a lot of kimchi and this was easily among the worst. The rice was even off. Could have been a left over from the kimchi, but it was not edible to me. You'll get a huge portion of decent food for a good price in Waikiki, but Me's has lost the magic that brought me back. I had to come back and update my review from 2 years ago because it didn't give this place enough justice! When visiting Oahu, you must visit this local restaurant for the best Korean food on the whole island. The long lines are there for a reason, and are so worth the wait. Our party of 4 got the Chicken Katsu, Meat Jun, Kalbi, and Bi Bim Bap and there were so many leftovers (enough for another meal!) Generous portions, delicious flavor, sides were customizable and you could choose between kimchi, mac salad, and various dishes. For its low price we were surprised by the good quality of the meal. Don't forget to bring cash though! The atmosphere might be a little dingy - there are 4 outdoor tables which you can sit at. No indoor seating space, but given Hawaii's beautiful weather you can catch a nice breeze while enjoying a good meal. I still think about Me's BBQ all the way in Texas. If I had a plane ticket to Hawaii to specifically eat here I'd do it. Don't miss out on this place when you're on your vacation! read more

It is kind of like fast food style with the food ready in the steam table in front of you, you let them know your choices, and the employees serve you. It is a small location, but there is some patio seating outside. I feel like the food was decently priced and the portions were okay. If you wanted to eat there, there are a few tables outside that you can dine on. It's fast food Korean, order what you want, and then pick some sides. I had the meat jun. I am a fan of their meat jun because it's not thick or fatty and it feels like the meat and egg is pressed, which is what I like, it's on the thinner side. But thinner doesn't mean you don't get a lot of food. You definitely get a lot and I can't even finish the entire plate that comes with rice and 4 sides. I hear the BBQ chicken is also good. OK, back again. Was going to Ala Moana for lunch, but the group i'm with didn't want to go until dinner time. So around the hotel, saw Me's and recalled it wasn't that good. But hungry and didn't feel like walking around much, so back again. To be fair about it, the food is OK. Compared to Pearl, it fall short on quantity. Each of the 4 sides are very small. The meat as expected of kalbi and beef were good. Main reason is the lack of service, or more like the attitude. The dragon lady taking the order gives you this evil eyes, and simply the worst attitude. If she's that upset in working, but I guess the cash (no cc) must be really good for her to stay. I usually like to go back to the same business more than once, just to make sure it's consistent of what i thought it was. Today is the 3rd now, and i will not return. It's a shame that the service or lack of service and attitude is FREE....the owner can easily make this a 5 star small business. read more
