We sat in the patio because they told me it was enclosed, which it was but with gaps throughout the windows that you feel the cold air come in even with heaters on. The service was good, our waitress really took care of us! We had a little bit of everything and wasn't too impressed. The pasta and ceviche tower had no flavor! The ceviche was not "ceviche" it was nothing but tuna and avocado! For their outrages pricing, they can definitely do better with their quality! But the main reason I decided to post this negative review is to make you all aware - if you're celebrating a birthday there they charge a "fee" of $25 to just bring in the cake into the restaurant!!!! When I asked why and also why they failed to let me know upon my reservation, when they knew this was for a birthday celebration... all they could say is I'm sorry but you're bringing food from the outside! My colleagues loved the lamb and steak they had. One person had the grapefruit and avocado salad and said it was incredible. We enjoyed the ahi tuna tower and chips and shared three desserts between 7 people. The cheesecake was my favorite. I had vegan tacos and they left a lot to be desired. They had barely any flavor and the tortillas were cold and bland. The sauce was left off and I had to ask for them to bring it. The green Chile casserole was more of a soufflé but I enjoyed it. We tried this place for the first time today and we mainly enjoyed our experience. Our waiter was nice and attentive, and I enjoyed my skinny colada cocktail as well as my wedge salad. However, I asked for no bacon but they still put it on. They also gave me the wrong dressing. I asked for ranch instead of blue cheese. My partner's order was also wrong. This was such a great dinner on a Friday evening. I made a reservation via OpenTable and was sat right away. Michelle made every effort to sit us in the patio as we wanted to sit out where the live music was playing. I definitely recommend the patio for the great music on weekends. A few tables were celebrating birthdays and the musician sang happy birthday. Our server was busy throughout the night and despite was on top of things and super attentive. Everything we ordered was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. We had the ceviche tower as an appetizer and for dinner the filet and crab cakes with a side of mushrooms. For dessert we shared the crème brûlée cheese cake. The food was delicious. My salad had plenty of crispy prosciutto, blueberries, and bleu cheese. The candied walnuts were a nice touch. The ambiance is one of a nicer sit-down restaurant. Watermelon Diablo: Very sweet margarita. Definitely can taste the watermelon. Little too sweet for me but it definitely covered up the tequila taste. Jala-Mari: calamari was sooooo good. I have high standards for calamari and it definitely met those standards! The aioli that comes with it is to die for. Ceviche Tower: Love the presentation of this dish. I am a huge fan of tuna towers. The avocado was very fresh and the seafood was great. I wouldn't say it was the best ceviche I've ever had but a solid traditional Mexican ceviche. The chips that came with it were a little stale. We got the appetizer and the salad....the Entree never arrived. After waiting enough we spoke with Management. They apparently "overcommitted and underperformed" and people were lining up to be seated. Celebrated our Anniversary here. Really enjoyed it. They have a large dining room that was set for 100 people for later dinner, so they put us in the Wine Room. A small glass fishbowl of a room with 1 table. I had Rack of Lamb with a CabSav, wife had Sea Bass with a Chardonnay. And Bananas Foster for desert. Food was super good. Service was excellent. My two kids ordered avocado toast and they were the size of a crouton. My wife ordered the Greek salad...it literally had only 4 half cherry tomatoes, a couple of olives, and the dressing was terrible. I ordered the chilaquiles, they were okay but the beef was really dry and it was too spicy and had a citrus taste from tomatillos. Service was slow, food was small and bland. The Greek salad was a ripoff, the avocado toast is a ripoff! This place is just open as an excuse to take your hard earned money! It took about 5 minutes to get a glass of water. To actually order took about 20 minutes for our waitress to come back. The lamb that was ordered, medium, to be safe hoping it would come out medium rare. It came out rare. Blue in some parts. Duck that was ordered was very well done. My family and I have been coming to this place for years and have really enjoyed the ambiance and the service. Unfortunately, our family came here for New Years dinner and have been waiting for over 2 hours just to get our appetizers. Our reservation was at 7:00pm and they told us that we would need to be out by 9:00 pm. It's 10:00pm and we still have not gotten our soup and salad. We were just notified that they ran out of soup. Our parents are old and I know now that I will never come back here for New Years or ever again! At $100.00 per person for a pre fixe meal this is inexcusable! Don't bother coming to this place! Very first impression hit in the face with what smells like glade air freshener. And when I say hit in the face I mean closed fist bare knuckle when you weren't expecting it hit. Music: the music was good. It fit the theme. Safe remakes of 80's and 90's hits. Something easily ignored during conversation but also recognizable Food: slightly more upscale than most surrounding places but not pretentious. The portions aren't small but they also weren't giant. I had fish n chips. Probably not something I'd get again. Not because of the taste but because I'm interested in other things in the menu. The fish was well prepared and had a nice crust. The fries were very tasty. Price: slightly more expensive than it probably should be but nothing out of question. Pros: plenty of room and a good bar selection. Decent food just slightly high priced with good music. Cons: The overwhelming smell of air freshener. And people smoking in the covered patio. This is a beautiful place. It is decorated for Christmas in a festive and classy way. The perfect setting for a special night out. For me to finish this after the fact let's you know what a great time I was having. We started with tuna tacos that were filled with nice pieces of tunas, the smoked salmon crostini (they were amazingly delicious) and the cerviche tower (so good). We washed down our appetizers with some nice Chandon. We went in to steak done to perfection, a melt in your mouth stuffed steak with a raspberry sauce and pasta Alfredo with salmon. My friend who had the pasta cannot eat meat due to medical reasons so she has become a pasta guru. She was amazed at the Alfredo because you could tell it was made with real butter and cream. We had a pink noir that our waiter, Richard, recommended- it was great. We finished with cream brûlée, a slice of birthday cake and orange crepes prepared table side- oh the wonderful aroma while they were being prepared had the surrounding tables asking for it. This place ruined my NYE/Wedding Anniversary dinner on 31 Dec 2022. First of all they overbooked the restaurant and made my wife and wait for an additional 45 minutes to be seated even after making me place my credit card information on file (so they could charge me if we did not show up) and confirm my reservation online. Next they seated parties that came for 10pm reservations before my wife and I who had a 9:30pm reservation. After I complained about being skipped for seating by parties with reservations after mine the hostess took us to a dirty table and had us stand there while she went to the back and got clean napkins and a clean table cloth for the table she was going to seat us at. After she did change the table cloth she left the dirty napkins on the floor at out table (we had to ask the waiter to pick them up and take them away later). Next we were given menus for what was to be a four course meal for $140/person and to our surprise and unlike what they (Mesa Street Grill) has posted on their website and social media pages only a few select items were included as part of the dinner selections, everything else listed was an upcharge (sounds like a classic bait-and switch, but I will let you all decide). All this after being seated almost 1hr our reservation time, I am guessing the thinking was once they are seated they won't get and leave and they were right. I ere I am going to find a place to have a nice anniversary and NYE dinner at 10:30pm on NYE. The food itself was mediocre (maybe it was the disappointment from everything leading up getting served). When it check came it was another disappointment. Instead of being charged $140/person or$280 plus my upcharges for the items that we ordered my check said two 4 course meals was $291+ and my upcharges for $19, $14 and $4 were almost $20, $15 and $5? And then the kicker they automatically added a 20% gratuity fee to our check for a party of 2? After all these things that went wrong prior to and during the seating and service 20%? I'm from out of town. This was my first visit to Mesa Street Grill. The food was ok. The service was excellent. However, I left my glasses and sunglasses on the table. I called to let them know, and the woman I spoke to said she put them in a drawer at the hostess desk. I had a flight to catch the next day, but I told her I would be back to pick them up as soon as possible. When I returned to El Paso, I called and was told they had given my glasses to another person. Their security policy is horrible; they asked for no ID, just let the person pick out whatever glasses they wanted. In return, they offered me a free appetizer. A reasonably expensive restaurant should have a good security policy for items left behind. I lost over $900.00. The owner never called me back. No one I spoke to ever returned my calls. read more

For those of you saying, "what you talkin' bout Willis?" right about now, don't worry, they are reopening right down the street! As usual, our reservation for a table in the fire place room was quickly granted to us upon entering the restaurant. This room was extra special being that it was where I proposed to my wife. The The waiter was prompt and courteous and brought over out celebratory bottle of moscato promptly, ice bucket and all. My wife absolutely loves the bread rolls and they are a fluffy, sweet blend of dough that makes you think your biting into a cloud smeared with butter! Our meal came perfectly timed. I ordered the 14 oz Delmonico Prime Rib-eye with a side baked potato and it was absolutely delicious. I ordered it medium and it was a little over cooked but the juicy flavors I long for in a medium were still there. A pleasant surprise came in the form of a bacon wrapped jalapeño and it really complimented the steak. The baked potato was great and comes with bacon, cheese, sour cream, and butter on the side. My wife ordered the Spicy Shirmp Pasta and it was a lovely, creamy texture that really blended well with the most crisp, freshest shrimp I have ever tasted! I'm not usually a shrimp kind of person because they often don't taste fresh, but once I took a bite of my wife's dish I couldn't help but pause for a moment to really appreciate the freshness. So, this was my first time to Mesa; a very close friend hyped it to be the best thing since sliced bread. Since he had a personal relationship with the original owner who is now deceased, he kept his review off social media, but for me , the service and food was so far below what could be considered "high end" or "fine dining" that it has to be said. I will condense my comments... Reservations were made 5 days prior with a specific request to be on the patio and then the day of the restaurant called to push our reservation 45 min so we could still be on the patio; re-highlight, a specific request when the reservation was made 5 days earlier. Upon arrival, we discovered that a Herbalife party had the patio all evening. No exceptions...no manger, just a young server trying to explain it. I felt so bad for her but she tried to stay positive. Next, we ordered a bottle of wine...one of the glasses came out with lipstick and grime. I selected the wine and it was okay...all me. Next. The poppers...they were good. Next, order dinner...5 Delmonico steaks, 1 pasta and 1 rack of lamb. All steaks over cooked, moderate portions and the lamb was cold to the touch at center. I cut one piece off...when sent back, I received the same rack that appeared to be microwaved. I will say that the sauce was good but the lamb was exceptionally bad. To catapult the experience, I never received my own steak knife. I borrowed my friends. Speaking of my friend, he ordered his drink 3 times before he received it almost half an hour later. After all of this, we ordered banana foster...the clown show that ensues after that was actually funny. I received exactly 3 slices of banana on my ice cream. It was not a show folks, I was embarrassed for them. Next, I had asked about Port Wine. The server had no idea, the other server had no idea and then they asked the main bartender or some dude to come over and I received the "we are changing our menu" explanation. I declined the opportunity...I mean, really? Finally, for all of this, a $600 dollar bill received a complimentary reimbursement for the banana foster...giddy-up Mesa, you dropped what could've been a glowing review into the toilet. I have to re-emphasize that this is extremely condensed but just know, I'm in El Paso often and won't be back, nor will any recommendations be given. Why would I?
