I took the wife and kids here for a nice family dinner and going to Messina was a great choice! We were greeted by great staff and while we were waiting the owner came by and talked to us and kept us updated on the wait which wasn't long at all. The atmosphere is low key and warm like gathering around for a nice cozy family dinner. The food was great! We got the Bruschetta as a starter which was delicious! For entrees I got the Gnocchi which was stuffed with spinach and served with choice of pesto cream sauce or red cream sauce. I got the crème sauce. My wife got the Cheese Ravioli which was ravioli pockets stuffed with ricotta, romano and parmesan cheese, served in our homemade pasta sauce, topped with shredded parmesan cheese. My wife loved it and she let me try some and it was great! The kids loved their food! My son got chicken tenders and my daughter got a cheese pizza. We then took dessert home we got one Cannoli and one Spumoni Bomb which is a scoop of Spumoni ice creme with a chocolate shell. It was also very delicious! Wed is lobster night cooked rubbery no flavor, we had a crab cake absolutely horrible they were deep fried mush, lots of filler I'm sure they are bought frozen they were $17.00 not worth one percent of that. also had the steak sandwich asked for mid rare got mid well flavorless but not chewy. Stopped in for our 1st time with our Grandbaby after a Costco shopping trip. Everything impressed us about the place EXCEPT our server! My husband ordered a steak and most clearly certainly said NO MUSHROOMS. My granddaughter even jokingly said " no mushrooms Papa" because it's a staple saying, in and around her. He has a mushroom sensitivity. Well guess what? His steak came smothered in them! Then when he immediately stated to our server the mistake she made, she said nope you didn't and started walking away! Really. He clearly stated no mushrooms and asked for a new steak. She said well you'll have to wait as long as you did for this one then. So as this was already 7:30pm and we were accompanied by a toddler.....he said he'll just deal with your mistake and try and scrape them off. She at least gave him another plate. But the mushroom juice had seeped into the meat and was not enjoyable at all not to mention his stomach will disagree later for the mistake. She stopped 1 additional time but took forever to package my leftovers and bring the bill. No discount, no apology, nothing. I understand it was busy but lady you have 1 job.... to listen. If you make a mistake, alot can be forgiven with a simple acknowledgement which she did not do. Do know if we'll be back. So we went here for my daughter's birthday, the waitress was really good, the owner has a terrible adittute. A couple years ago on new years eve after coming there several new years eve in a row we where telling him that and how mich we liked it, he proceeded to tell us if we liked it so much then why didn't we come more often and then urged and walked away. This time we were celebrating my daughter's birthday, we ordered an appetizers, dinner and desert. While my wife and daughter were eating desert I used the restroom. While I was away the owner stopped by and asked us if we could finish up and leave. We hadn't even finished dessert. Despite the rudeness of the owner I did leave the waitress a 30% tip. I felt bad for her having to deal with suck a jerk of an owner and we will not be back. 2 times he treated us disrespectfully. And to spend 180, 140 for dinner and a 40 dollar tip at a restaurant and then to be asked to finish up because they need the table when there was 4 other empty ones is beyound unacceptable. In summary the food is ok, little blan, the waitress was really good, the owner i don't have the words to express how unappreciated as customer we felt and absolutely ruined my daughter's birthday dinner. My wife and I went to this restaurant this evening for the first time. Our experience was fabulous! The Wedding Soup was divine. The lasagna was absolutely scrumptious. The Tiramisu was the best ever. Carrie, our waitress, was friendly, polite and very professional. Carmelo, the owner, asked us about our experience, and we told him that everything was just wonderful. Carmelo informed us that his wife made the Tiramisu and that his son made the lasagna. I was craving some Italian food one day. Looked around and seen this little gem. I usually relate Italian to pizza. Man I was missing out. Never have I had food that tasted so authentic. Hands down the worst Italian food I've ever had. Also, one of the worst dining experiences in a long time. We ordered the rice ball to start. It came out cold in the middle. The waitress took it and put in in the microwave and brought it back. The greens on the plate were wilted. I really think they should've offered to make us a new rice ball. Once it was warmed up it was soggy and unappetizing. We did not finish it and the waitress did not even comment or care. I ordered the chicken Marsala and my husband had the spaghetti and meat sauce. The "Marsala" sauce was more like brown, thick gravy. Chicken breast was rubbery and awful. My husband's meat sauce was bland and luke warm. We barley ate any of our meals. I am so dissapointed with the quality and quantity of the food for this restaurant! We used to live in Port and not a week went by without us ordering delivery. Their Friday night cod was my favorite around. However, since we moved about 6 years ago, we now live about 20 minutes away so this is definitely a treat for us, even though we can only settle for take out every once in awhile. The last time we ordered food about two months ago the bread was missing, the soup was missing and there was no tarter sauce. I was really pretty dissapointed because the food is not cheap. But I didn't call, I just chalked it up to a bad night. So I decided to give it another try tonight since I was craving their Cod dinner and my sister had ordered it last week and was pretty pleased. I was so very dissapointed at the portion! Keep in mind that the fish fry is around $14 and we have always gotten 3 really nice cod loins that come with a baked potato or ff and bread. My sister picked up cod last week and like always she had 3 nice sized cod loins in each container. My husband got home tonight and I have to say 3 chunks of cod which barely makes up one of their normal sized cod loins and about 15 fries is definitely not worth the $14 dollar price tag. I mean really?? Of course we aren't taking it back, we live 20 minutes away, but I'm pretty sure I deserve a $7.00 refund because this is DEFINITELY not a $14.00 cod dinner. I guess I will give up on this restaurant since they have obviously given up on quality, quantity and especially consistency. Had dinner here with a few friends. The owner was very friendly and accommodating, making sure there was an adequate, safe spot for my friend's sleeping baby in a baby seat. The food was fantastic, with large portions, and very well priced. Started out with a tomato soup (with basil I think) that was really good, and normally I do not like tomato soup. We got a plate of bruschetta, the topping tasted incredibly fresh. I had the chicken parmesan. Came with wonderful buttered vegetables with dill. The coating on the chicken was perfectly done. The tomato sauce tasted fresh and flavorful. The bill was, in my opinion, incredibly low for the number of people and what we had. Not real close to my house, but I wouldn't hesitate to go back at the right opportunity! read more

We love Messina's and are regular customers. Their Italian dishes are always great, but we've also enjoyed their nightly specials. On our last visit it was a grilled ribeye. So good! This was VERY underwhelming so I'll just give a play-by-play of our meal with menu descriptions: Appetizer- Bruschetta Toasted bread topped with a tomato, basil, olive relish sprinkled with parmesan cheese. $7.95 Should have been called toast with diced tomatoes. Tomatoes stacked over an inch tall on the bread so most of it falls off. I was really bummed when I was expecting fresh basil and instead got a few sprinkles of what seemed to be dried, so we couldn't even taste it. There MAY have been 1 or 2 diced pieces of olive on each piece of toast. There were some grated pieces of parmesan, but it was so little we couldn't taste it. Absolutely no balance of flavors. Dinner Salad- house salad with Parmesan Peppercorn dressing Veggies all seemed fresh and no complaints there. Dressing did have a nice strong parmesan flavor, however there was no discernible peppercorn. We did get the obligatory pepper grinder to taste but if that's the "peppercorn" don't include it in the description. Entree #1-Grilled Shrimp Capellini Grilled shrimp served over angel hair pasta with chef-style tomatoes, pesto and olive oil, topped with shredded parmesan. $21.95 This was the biggest disappointment of the night. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, so that is the bright spot of the evening. But, that's where the good ended. The "chef-style" tomatoes tasted liked canned, stewed tomatoes. Worst of all, though, was the "pesto and olive oil". There was literally NO pesto in the dish. My wife actually asked the server where the pesto was because she/we assumed it had been mistakenly omitted. Turns out "pesto" is just the seasoning that makes pesto and there was no actual pesto in the dish. Then they added a few sprinkles of parm on top. Entree #2- Veal Marsala (copied and adjusted from Chicken Marsala because it was not included in online menu). Pan-fried veal sauteed with mushrooms and scallions in a Marsala wine sauce, served over penne pasta. $24.95(If memory serves) The veal was tough(however that happens) so that I had to use my butter knife to cut it. Must have been a pre-processed patty that was either overcooked or heated in the micro. The mushrooms and marsala suace tasted and appeared to be canned. Maybe they threw in some wine at the end but it was bland and did not taste like it was "sauteed" with the veal. Noodles were OK and the side veg was good with its strong taste of dill. Wrap-up: Our first sign of distress was a shaker of dry parm sitting on the table, you know, the same cheap crap you get a Walmart for $1.50 a container. I assumed that is a no-no if you want more than 3 stars. The fact is, the menu looks fancy and they use lots of buzzwords so you think you're eating high-end. This is an Italian restaurant charging over $20 per entree and they don't even know how to make pesto! WTF?!?! In the end its mostly processed and canned food made to look and sound fancy. I've had better at Olive Garden for less money. read more
