Arrived at 5:15pm and restaurant was not crowded at all. Waitress was great but food took too long to come out. Three of us and two meals were a simple waffle and fruit, the other meal was fish and french fries. My waffle came out first. Five minutes later the fish dinner was brought to the table and fifteen minutes after that the other waffle and fruit meal was brought out for my daughter inlaw. My son and I were half way through our meal and my daughter in law was just getting her meal. The restaurant was not crowded yet a waffle and fruit meal took that long to prepare?? My daughter in law boxed up her meal since it arrived so late. My son realized too that a side dish he ordered along with his fish meal was never brought out to our table. I wanted to complain to manager but my son just wanted to leave. Very poor service regarding getting all three meals served to our table at same time and took too long as well. read more

Busy as always, but service with our server Flo was lovely. She kept up with service the best she could considering all the tables she had. Lunch was delicious. Ordered pot pie; which the small size portion looks like it could be the large. It was very unique considering it had lima beans, green beans, and corn in it. Can only imagine what the actual large one looks like. The club sandwich was also ordered and it is enough to feed two people. Ordered with a side of mashed potatoes, very large bowl. Restaurant was nice clean and cozy. It has a very relaxed laid-back feel. I had looked at the yelp reviews before going and had already decided what to eat before I got there. After seeing a picture of the croissant French toast and the shrimp grits that's what I decided to order. I was not disappointed, the croissant French toast was soft fluffy yet slightly crunchy even on the sweetness and the shrimp grits were feeling and covered in bacon. You can't go wrong with anything covered in bacon! Overall I loved my experience at this restaurant and recommend it to all my family and friends as a must stop by! read more

Wonderful food and atmosphere. Came in for a late breakfast while on vacation and we were not disappointed! We were greeted and seated promptly. Ordered the Breakfast pie and the Western Omelet with grits. Food was served piping hot and pretty quickly. I have eaten here 3 times. Each time the service was pretty slow and food was.. meh! They claim to be a "typical northern style " diner. I don't get that when there. The last time I went , my whole group had to leave after 1.5 hours with NO food. It took over 40 min to get everyone drink and order and we literally ran out of time. ........ We finally got a chance to try out Metro Diner for brunch. It was Sunday around noon, but even with the church crowd, we only had to wait 25 mins. We didn't mind the wait because of the coffee and lemon water provided while we waited. Once we were seated the service was prompt and the waiter was friendly. I ordered a Bloody Mary and the Special of the Day, Fried Chicken & Waffles Eggs Benedict and my husband ordered the Crab Cakes Benedict. My Bloody Mary was pretty standard- delicious but nothing to write home about. My fried chicken and waffles was very good. The chicken was well marinated and fried, not undercooked or burned. The eggs were poached well, which is something that seems to wrong at a lot of brunch places. My husband said his crab cakes were yummy, but again, nothing to get super excited about. The one thing we both found between both of our dishes is the Hollandaise sauce comes from a can and had broken (meaning the oil and the other parts had separated, becoming lumpy and congealed). At the end of the day, we will be back, but won't be ordering any kind of Eggs Benedict. read more

I love this place! Each time I've been here the food has been outstanding. Service is awesome and my order has always come out pretty quickly. Their veggie omelet is delicious and overflowing with tons of yummy vegetables, and there is the perfect amount of cheese mixed in. The eggs benedict is wonderful. The eggs are perfectly cooked and there is a perfect amount of everything. The hollandaise sauce is fabulous. When ordering the fruity waffle, they give you a lot of fruit. Their hash browns are great too. Crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked in the middle. It's awesome watching the cooks in the kitchen/grill area as well. They work hard, constantly encourage each other, and everything seems to run like a well oiled machine. I was very impressed. Almost everyone working there walks around with a smile on their faces. It's very family friendly and a great casual dining experience, and the prices are amazing for the huge portions of food that you get. I definitely recommend this place! read more

Metro Diner on Washington in Augusta wasn't the same excellent experience I had in Aiken. Service was a little lacking except for Mike who was very friendly and helpful during the meal. The meatloaf was not very tasty. One waiter was coming in to begin work and was combing through his curly hair at the front area near the menus where you are greeted. Not appealing. I won't visit that Metro Diner again. read more

Delicious food. In typical diner fashion, breakfast is served all day. We showed up at about 7pm on a Thursday. There was a lot of people there but we were sat immediately. I had the croissant French toast - delicious - they served them with warm syrup but it wasn't needed, they were perfect as is. My 17 year old son got the regular chicken pot pie and he loved it but was only able to eat half. My husband got the meat lovers omelette and devoured it. Definitely recommend eating here. read more

We witnessed the manager scold the wait staff a couple of times for clustering around the service station... so they went and clustered around the expeditors window. We were witness to a number of red tickets flashing in the window meaning a number of tables were experiencing the same wait that we were. There looked to be about a dozen staff on floor but nobody seemed to be able to help the situation. We got there shortly after 7am and were seated promptly, but we did not receive our food until 9:15 and were not able to leave until 9:45. The only reason we went to this restaurant was because of the 4.5 star review on yelp. This was not a 4.5 star experience. read more

So we ate here again on Friday night. Packed full of folks but a short ten minute wait. After we are seated, we had a nice,friendly server. A man. Can't remember his name. We ordered the chicken dinner plate, Charleston shrimp and grits, and western omelet with loaded has browns! The chicken plate was huge! Hot and juicy when it came to table. The omelet and hasbrowns looked delicious. I didn't try it. The Charleston shrimp and grits tasted like you were eating gravy till I realized the grits were fried on top. Got to work, made my coffee, sat down to enjoy breakfast and WHAT IS THIS!! By mouth watering BLT and cheese girts was a huge Bacon, Egg & Cheese Croissant and hash browns! Okkaay, I'm big girl, I can handle disappointment in my life, right! So, I eat.......the sandwich was really good! I gave the hash browns away.....and I debated whether I should call the diner or not. I wanted to let them know, someone got my WONDERFUL BLT, working in downtown Augusta, it wasn't like I was going back :-( Anyway, I called just to say "hey maybe next time we could double check" or even I could've check before I left... This is where things turned! When I started to explained that unfortunately, I got someone else's order, the lady that answered the phone says, "Is this Ms. Sharon" We are sooooo sorry and I've been waiting on your call!" WHAT!!!!!! All my anxiety about rude customer service disappeared! I wished I would have gotten the young lady's name that delivered such excellent customer service so I could shout her out here, but I didn't. That beautiful burger you see in the picture is two bacon grilled cheese sandwiches with a huge patty in between which combines to make one amazing mess. Do yourself a favor and sit in the seats in front of the kitchen and watch the amazing show the cooks put on here.
