I waited 25-30 minutes before being seated. After I was called to be seated, we waited another 15 minutes waiting for a server to greet us and take our drink order. We watched multiple families get seated and waited on before even having a chance to place any order. I will never revisit this establishment due to terrible customer service. Metro Diner review We arrived on a Saturday at 12:45 and had a 40 minute wait before we were seated. That gave us a chance to look at the menu. We had a very friendly server. They use iPads to take orders and also to take your payment. My husband ordered the Holy Davoli burger which was a burger patty sandwiched between two grilled cheese sandwiches. He loved it but we took half of it home because it was so huge! My son ordered the meatloaf and loved everything on the plate (meatloaf, grilled veggies, mashed potatoes and bread). I ordered the croissant french toast. It was very good! It was two croissants split and more than I could eat, but my menfolk helped out with that:). We really enjoyed the Metro Diner. We were seated quickly and our order came out perfect, even with all of our additions and substitutions. We had the veggie omelet and corned beef hash ( seriously recommend!) along with the home fries (eh...okay) and hash browns (delish!!). The pancakes were HUGE topped with strawberries and served with warm syrup, drool worthy for sure. Also had the $3 mimosas, worth it! Our server was really nice as well and attentive, always appreciated. Wish the location wasn't so far out on 280 but I would definitely come back again. The service and wait staff was great. My meatloaf potatoes and green beans were wonderful. My husband ordered the chicken pot pie. The filling was good but biscuit topping was not good at all. I previously wrote a review on 9/19/17 for this restaurant and my experience was less than pleasant in so many ways. However, Todd reached out to me after reading my review and assured me that this is not the usual experience at Metro Diner and invited me back out. I can honestly say that this visit was nothing short or perfect. We were promptly greeted upon arrival and waited less than five minutes before being seated. The food looked and tasted great! Our server was amazing! I will definitely be returning. I highly recommend the chicken and waffles. Prior to this visit, I just could not wrap my head around why someone would pair these two things. The chicken was bribed and just right, the waffles were sweet, and the strawberry cream butter was a nice touch. My oldest ordered the croissant french toast. She said they were really good, the texture was really smooth. My youngest ordered the apple yo holla. Two pieces of challah bread French toast with a sweet cream cheese, syrup, and fruit mix in between. She loved it. My Dad and niece both got eggs Benedict, dad got the classic and my niece got the San Francisco style (piece of avocado with tomato and Canadian bacon under the poached egg and hollandaise sauce). The wait wasn't terrible even though due to Covid they could only fill half their tables, we only waited about 12 minutes for a table which is less than I've waited here at full capacity. Server was a little slow to greet us, take our order etc but after that initial delay all was great. I had the breakfast burger, it's not on the regular menu but was listed on the specials board and may be the BEST burger I've ever eaten. So I never been to Metro Diner in Alabama. I have previously visited the location in Augusta, Georgia. So I drove here to see what I was missing. They had great parking and a clean lot. When I entered the location I was immediately greeted by the staff. They asked me how many in my party and told me I could sit any where I was comfortable. I always like choosing my own seat lol. I was undecided on what I wanted to eat. Did I want breakfast or lunch. Soooooo, I decided to try the Bold City burger with fries and a sprite. Yes. I am eating lunch for breakfast. I like the fact that they give you choices. So if you have a family who is wants breakfast and lunch this is the place to go. The burger was great and had good flavor. My food was was neatly presented to me on the plate. I also had a pickle on the side that I didn't eat. The ketchup was already on the table, which was low. I had just enough for ME, I told my server. My server Brian was very nice and attentive. He checked on me after giving me my food. He continued to bring me sprites, and allowed me time to work on my homework while enjoying my meal. My only complaint is that there is no paper towels in the ladies bathroom. On May 21, 2021, My husband and I went to have lunch at Metro Diner, located at 180 Inverness Plaza, Birmingham, Alabama 35242. We were seated in the back towards the drink station which wasn't an issue, but by being seated here we could see the drinks and food being prepared. Once seated we placed our orders for drinks, drinks arrived and we placed our order for food. Ordered the Club with fries and my husband ordered the Mushroom Swiss and fries, about 25 - 30 minutes later we still had no food but noticed everyone who had come in after us had been served. Eventually the waitress came over and stated that the system had errored out our order and apologized (okay, no problem). Now the problem, while sitting there I saw my food come up in the pick-up window and several orders placed behind it, the waitress reached over my food to get the other order and touched my whole plate from her armpit to her elbow, needless to say I wasn't eating that. My husband convinced me it would be okay and we would just order me something else, he still has no food, finally he was brought a Burger with no fries on a dirty plate, he informed the waitress that the plate was dirty she immediately slammed down the plate of fries she was holding (which went all over him) and screamed he don't want this because they say the plate is dirty (which it was) now I'm super pissed, by then the manager came over(I'm assuming she was the manager) She apologized and offered to try and fix the situation but my husband just told her to bring him the check so we could go (mind you, we've still not had any food and the watered down tea is still on the table untouched). She apologized again and said there was no charge, at this point I got up and walked out because this was absolutely ridiculous. We frequent Metro Diner often and have never had an experience such as this, the service is usually excellent and the food is terrific, I don't know what was going on this day but it was truly horrendous!!!! read more

We have gotten takeout from this location occasionally during the pandemic. Went in to pick up an online order at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday. There were a few tables occupied and no one waiting to pick up to-go orders. Most of the staff was standing around, doing other things. At least three staff members looked at me waiting and went about doing other things. Two were on their phones in the dining area, including one actually having a conversation on the phone. After a few minutes, finally a gentleman sitting at the counter eating asked if I had been helped. I said no. He motioned for one of the servers to assist me. Topped it all off with the managing partner calling to follow up on my e-mail to their company on Sunday afternoon. From her voicemail, she couldn't have cared less about what occurred and was definitely in a rush to get off the phone.
