The cook tried to kick my child in retaliation to me being upset about my eggs being cooked incorrectly... I should have just went to Walmart and grabbed eggos. They let our food sit for 45 min right in front of us..... and ROACHES.... Roaches everywhere. The waffles stank. read more

So as a born and raised Georgian, I've had my fair share of visits to a good ol Waffle House. Some good, some weird, some funny, and some just down right bad but this location most certainly falls into the good category. During my last visit to SSI, we got in a little late and while we were hoping to make it to this pizza spot we enjoy, they were closed and of course nothing else was open but Waffle House. We walked in and were welcomed as though we were long lost family they hadn't seen in years. We were the only ones in the restaurant so of course we were able to order food super quick and shoot the breeze for a bit while our food was being prepared. The staff were friendly and chatted with us about their life on the island and a few places we should check out. Meanwhile the cook made some of the best food I've from Waffle House in a long time. Not too greasy, served hot, anddd of course it was budget friendly. Especially when the waitress mentioned the secret dollar menu (well there's various meals for under $5). If you're lookin for a place on the island after everything else has closed, stop by Waffle House. They'll treat ya right! read more

Usually this is a fantastic place to eat but tonight was not one of those nights and the behavior of the staff was horrible and not only did we have to eat at the Bar with dirty plates stacked beside us.. One of the waitresses was upset bc of another employee not showing up for her shift and she not only complained loudly to everyone who would listen but she began to use profanity and ignored the customized she had. It was completely obnoxious and after two women left and left their money on the table instead of being chased out we finally asked for our bill as we had been finished and still hadn't gotten all our food. I finally voiced our complaints and asked for the bill explained we had enough of the situation and would like to get out check and leave - and the young lady exploded. Yet five min before we were watching her let a young man dance on the table to music they brought in. We got a couple of minutes of that. It was an awful scene and I am hoping management gets a copy of the video and audio and takes actions on it so we can have our waffle house back. This was just way way over the top and occurred shortly after midnight. And I have to say - without further assurance that this problem has been solved - I think I will limit my visits to the day time and encourage others to do the same. read more

We love Waffle Houses and seek them out over any other breakfast fast food. We were here in Feb too and noticed how dirty this one was. This will be last time here for a while. read more

Yes its waffle house, I know. The people that work here are really cool, my friend and I showed up after having a few and the staff was more than tolerant. They even joked around with us. The food came out quickly since we were the only 2 in there. Food quality of waffle is never that great but we were hungry and food is food so why complain. I'm intelligent enough to know that racism unfortunately still exists in our country. However, it really hits home when I view it personally. The treatment that one of the waitstaff showed towards myself and another person of color was vastly different than the way she treated everyone else. Princess, a white waitstaff member, greeted everyone else with a smile and a Happy Thanksgiving. When she acknowledged myself and a young black man, she was strictly business and didn't have a warm greeting for either one of us. In fact, when I first sat down at the counter, she looked at me 2-3 times with barely an acknowledgement. After a few minutes passed she finally did approach me and just simply asked what did I want to drink. I've been to several Waffle Houses throughout the south and this was the first sign of racism I've encountered in any of their establishments. Thankfully my server, Donna, was much nicer and didn't show any signs of racism. Other than this unfortunate incident, my breakfast was exceptional as usual! read more

The St Simons Island Waffle House is located on Demere Road just west of the Roundabout. This is by far one of the cleanest if not the cleanest Waffle Houses I have ever eaten in. I love the Hash Brown from this Island restaurant. I always like mine crispy and when requested that way here they always come of that way. The Island Waffle House offers a number of entrees for under $5.00 and for the money you cannot beat it. The staff here is always very friendly and attentive. read more

I am hovering this place only two stars because it is good for a Waffle House. But everything else was pretty bad. First of all the last time I went (which was within the last month or two) they had some kind of bug infestation since there were a random assortment of bug crawling around on and around the booths. Bert's crew at the Waffle House consistently provide great food quickly. They make you feel like family. If you come in more than twice, they'll probably greet you by name. Came here twice (02/11/12 very late at night and 02/13/12 for a late breakfast) had different servers each time, but ironically ended up in the same seat. Our waitress' each time were wonderful. I went in one morning about 10am and is was very busy. I sat up at the counter since it was the only seat available. Not one person said "Hello, welcome to waffle house" or "I will be right with you." Employees continued to serve food and walk by me multiple times without even acknowledging me. Went to this location on 7-16-19 at about 1 am. It was bad enough to make mention of it here. The waitresses were overwhelmed and did their best. My food was terrible even by the Waffle House standard, as the cook was a complete failure. I've been to this location before. I didn't mind the dirty tables, floors and cockroaches, but this was the final straw. Don't go to this location now matter how drunk or depressed you might be. Just go home hungry and take comfort in your drunken sadness that you did not eat at the St Simons Island Waffle House. read more

Perfect greasy spoon/comfort food place. This is a chain, they're all over the place, whether you're coming in because you just don't feel like making breakfast or you're hung over beyond belief and need to wreck your body some more with a huge greasy breakfast (this is me mostly) you will be happy when you leave. The ladies in here provide some great service (at least at this one) and will make sure your breakfast is exactly how you want it. Would definitely recommend! read more

If you want to lose weight via way of salmonella poisoning this would be a great place for you to eat. Not only was I served *raw* chicken (so undercooked that it couldn't be cut), but this establishment violated so many standard practices to avoid food contamination that the FDA would have shut them down *immediately*. I can overlook a lot of things, but this blatant disregard for someone's health I cannot. Problem #2: *The Gloves*. The cook used the same gloves to grab raw chicken, bacon and eggs that he used to grab clean plates, cooked sausage and cooked bacon to serve. In addition the same contaminated gloves were also used to plate cooked toast. To put the cherry on top, when a knife couldn't be found to scoop the butter out of the container to spread on the toast...you guessed it: the contaminated gloves were used to scoop the butter out of the container and smear the butter on the toast. Raw chicken and raw pork essentially contaminated their entire food counter, cooked food items and clean dishes that they were serving to their customers. Great way to get a beach body at St. Simons, but no thanks...I will brunch elsewhere. read more

On my last visit, the food wasn't even edible. I've been here many times over the years and it's so inconsistent that I would never eat here again. I've had a few good meals here, but have had too many bad ones to count. On almost every visit, most of the staff is just smoking cigarettes right at the front door and can't be bothered with having to interrupt their smoke to make your food.
