We were here for brunch and ordered mimosas, and the frequency of service matters for mimosas! My husband and I ate here on Tuesday March 29th. I was very excited that they brought back huevos rancheros on the menu. We ordered and waited. Metro diner has an open kitchen so we were able to see our food waiting and waiting. Finally it was brought to us but not by our waitress. I asked my husband if he ordered sausage gravy. It was actually his grits. They had been in the window so long they congealed and no longer looked like grits. My rancheros was not what I had in the past. The points were not put in the platter facing upward but rather just thrown in. We have eaten at many metro diners and this was not up to standard. We noticed that cleaning supplies were near food. Our waitress finally checked on us as she finished her conversation with gentleman at the counter. Overall our meals were very disappointing and I have taken this restaurant off our list! read more

Next, we sat down. Our order was placed pretty quickly however our waiter did not check on us after our food was given to us. EGGS WERE COLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to get another waiter to change out our eggs because our waiter was no where to be found!!! Our waiter then gave us our changed eggs and walked off. 10 mins later I had to get another waiter because again.. OUR WAITER WAS NO WHERE TO BE FOUND AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!! Breakfast; Well, had the the San Francisco Eggs Benedict, not what I was hoping for. It comes with Avocado and that's great but when it's crunchy and Almost ripe that's not so great. The hollandaise sauce was bland at best. Tomatoes could have been more ripe as well. The Canadian bacon was hard and didn't really seem like genuine Canadian bacon. Hash browns were ok though On the other hand I was seated quickly and served by Shakema with a bright smile and prompt service. Ok so my first time here. Cute decent size diner in the heart of West Ashley. If you are in a hurry this place may not be for you. I walked in wanted a table but had to change it to the bar setting. The place is clean, faces are friendly and they have 2.99 mimosas and Bloody Mary's everyday. So if you're ever in the Charleston area and need a nice diner to stop into. I recommend this place. I had been trying to come here a couple times before, but the timing has always been wrong and the wait was usually longer than my stomach would allow. On this visit though, we were seated immediately and our server came over very quickly to take our orders. The offer sweet peach tea, which was a nice surprise. My daughter ordered the chicken and waffles, which came with an amazing strawberry butter. My son ordered the pulled pork mac stack off of the adult menu, and the portion size was huge. It came with a side of cornbread waffles. I had those for lunch the next day. My entrée was a burger grilled cheese sandwich thing that I had heard rumors about and wanted to try. Instead of buns, the burger has a grilled cheese with bacon and tomato on the top and bottom. There was no way that I could wrap my mouth around it in one bite, but I did finish the entire thing and left no crumb behind. It was amazing, but definitely not something that I could eat on the regular. I can't wait to go back with the family again and try some other items on the menu. I'll start off my saying the food is great as it's delicious, comes out quickly and is in large portions for the price you're paying. I ordered the chicken parm sandwich and it was so big I was only able to eat half of that! I ordered the onion rings as well and they were delicious. This rating would get a five, but we did not receive the greatest service. We went about ten minutes without seeing our server Lori as both our drinks were empty and several other employees walked past us and saw them and didn't do or saying anything. She continued to use an iPad for ordering which was apparent she didn't fully understand how to use as we sat there awkwardly for extended times as she punched in things standing over us. When it came time to pay she pulled out the tablet again and the system kept telling me it was a POS error every time I attempted to type in the tip. She then left it with us at one point and we told another server it wasn't working and even she said ' I don't know why she uses it as they rarely ever work' she had me run it through there about six times where we then asked if she could run it at the actual register. She then went and grabbed another tablet instead and it had the same issue. She finally listened and took it to the register and ran it and brought us back the receipt. While she had been watching me type in the tip every time, even with the paper receipt she stood there hovering over me as I was writing the tip and because of this uncomfortable hovering and overall situation I did take a dollar off of what she had seen my enter as it was pretty shocking for her to be doing that. I will probably get food from here again, but will most likely order it to go to avoid this type of service. read more

We went for brunch. All of the staff chefs included were on their phones. Food was sitting under the lamps for over 10 minutes. We had to flag our waitress down for refills. Parts of our meals were missing food. One drink we never got. Our eggs were literally swimming in a pool of oil. We all got sick that night and we only ate there that day. There were 2 other couples waiting before us we were told about a 15 minute wait which was accurate. They did offer complimentary coffee and water while waiting. The place was very clean and our service was great. We had 2 cups of coffee, the crab cakes benedict with hashbrowns $13.99 and also the special Oscars omelet with crab and asparagus topped off with hollandaise sauce served with hash browns and rye bread $13.99. A couple bites in to the omelet I decided I wanted some sauteed onions, which were quickly prepared $.75 The manager even came around to enquire about how our meal was :) It is a large place that can host large groups, they even have an enclosed outdoor dining area. We found it to be not only very efficient but price worthy, great size portions & friendly staff too. The bath room probably requires a little more attention than it was getting though. The restaurant was packed, our wait was about 40 minutes (standard wait time). I ordered the chicken and waffles, and my husband had the meatloaf. I was very pleasantly surprised at how delicious everything was! And the portions are very generous. The strawberry butter is not too sweet or heavy on the butter taste. The waffle was perfectly cooked- slightly crispy on the outside, light and fluffy in the inside. The fried chicken was moist and flavorful and no greasy taste. I appreciated the friendly and fast service, very affordable prices, and clear commitment to building a good reputation. That said, it doesn't stand out in a town like Charleston in terms of flavors. It's pretty good food but becomes less enjoyable if you try to finish the too-big portions, and even though their line can put out a lot of food really consistently and quickly, the ingredients and fast-fry methods aren't top-notch enough to get a fifth star from me. They've got a very admirably managed kitchen in terms of efficiency and consistency but I would like to see the food cooked with a little more love. Burgers are decent for a diner, pancakes are above average, fish and chips is very good, but the gravy needs work, the hash feels like it's out of a bag, and the grilled cheese needs a lot of work. read more
