I have been here many times for breakfast and love their breakfast croissant. We got takeout this evening and it was a huge disappointment. They gave us Shepherds pie instead of chicken pot pie, and left out a salad, toast, and an extra half waffle. While they were very apologetic when I called, that doesn't help when you have four people who didn't get what they ordered (and paid for). I would have given zero stars if allowed. Oh my goodness. I was so happy to find this place on Yelp while visiting Charleston. One of the best breakfast spots in the West Ashley area of Charleston. I ordered the scramble bowl and enjoyed it so much that me and bae came back again the next morning before leaving to head back home to Atlanta. Bae had chicken and waffles and gave it a thumbs up too. The waitress during our first visit was phenomenal. The waitress when we returned the next morning was a little sour and she flat out told me they were out of avocados when I wanted to order the scramble bowl again. But after spotting our waitress that served us the day before and inquiring further about the avocados she saved the day and told me that I could have my scramble bowl again because they did have avocados onsite. We were a little intimidated by the line on our first visit but the tables were turned over pretty quick and we didn't wait long at all. I love that this breakfast spot has a nice local vibe. This will be my go-to breakfast spot whenever I visit Charleston. read more

So everybody has been talking about this spot being sooo good, I had to go see what it was all about . So after a beautiful workout at the gym I decided I could have a hearty meal, so my friend and I went there. I got the fried chicken they had some dip that they specially made with syrup and hot sauce I was not a fan. I did not walk away enjoying my meal the chicken was very flaky so if you like a lot of breading on your chicken this is the place I do not. Glad this place opened up in West Ashley because they have soo many options to choose from!! We went today when it was super busy so it took a while for our food to come out! Everyone was very friendly that worked there! I had the eggs Benedict with Canadian bacon and avocado on it! It was very fresh and yummy! The grits also came out warm and creamy! Im glad I traded the hash browns for grits because nick had the hash browns and they were alright, much better after we mixed some egg and ketchup in with it! He had a pancake and some bacon and eggs! That was all really yummy! I don't recommend getting the biscuits and gravy because the gravy was not appetizing at all! So we got the pancake instead! Are used to live in Aiken and they had a metro diner out there and always loved going to it but since moving here I've been to this one three times now and both times service was all right but the servers were both had attitudes because of me simply asking a question about the menu I asked if I could get extra eggs for my omelette when they brought it out because it was super small portion charging $12 for three eggs is a little bit ridiculous to me I could make that at home for half the price also was just there the other day and I had the southwest bowl before and it was super good I had asked for no scallions they put the scallions on it I tried to pick them off because I didn't want to be a bother but it still tasted like onions and I can't stand the taste of onion so I had to ask them to take back and just remake it. She did kindly but she also brought me my bill and they didn't even discount me any which I kind of was upset about because I had to sit there and wait even longer for my food because I was starving then my daughter started to get fussy so I just told them to forget about it and take it off the bill because I was already aggravated at the fact that I didn't get to Eat they were still trying to charge me full price for my meal... I am a server/bartender of 10 years I've worked in the service industry my whole life the manager there needs to be fired because he does not know how to do his job he's very rude not friendly at all never smiles we will not be back again Super disappointing because I love the place in Aiken but the place here just ruined the vibe of the restaurant I will take myself to another breakfast place to spend my money. read more

Service was great. Phillip was our waiter. He was very attentive. I am a huge fan of the $2.99 mimosas and I'd come back for those alone. My kids wish there were more on the kids menu but not a complaint really. The kids quesadilla was really good. The chicken was seasoned and tasted marinated. I got the pot roast. Some of the best carrots I've had in a pot roast! Tasted like they were simmered in the beef drippings. I can't wait to try some of the desserts when we come back. I would rate this place with no stars if it was available. The WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!! The staff at the front door had me waiting for about 10 minutes before I could place a to ho order. I wasn't greeted when I walked in to this place. The host that was taking the to go orders Named MATTY was very disrespectful when I asked her to hand me my card back in my hand after she threw it on the counter. Update: 5/26/19 Returned to bring my mom here today. Staff was still frazzled. Our server made it a point to let us know we were her last table and prompted us to pay prior to receiving our food. Shocked my mom asked if we needed to pay the bill before the food came out. She responded yes, she was off and needed to do her side work as soon as possible so she could leave. A food runner was more attentive to us than our server was and even made sure to come back and deliver some ketchup which our server had taken from our table to refill for her side work. Some how I keep drawing the bad luck stick with servers and not getting a good one but very unprofessional of an establishment. There are many good waiters/waitresses here I can see them running and doing what they're supposed to but a few bad eggs are ruining the bunch. Also, again the food was phenomenal! We did a brunch sort of spin and really enjoyed our food. My mom agreed that the only thing bringing people back is the food, it is obviously not the customer service. I saw the manager briefly today trying to keep everyone in line, but you can only do so much. I recommend eating here just be aware that your service will suck but the food is worth it. 2 stars - 5/20/19 Gave this place a great shot after seeing great reviews. The service and servers are absolutely god awful. We sat at our booth with no acknowledgement from anyone. We were told to sit ourselves followed by 3 other couples. The couple that sat behind us after we were sat made a scene and were comped their meal and their next visit. We aren't regulars by any means but the food was phenomenal. The server we had barely did her job, my food was wrong but I just had to pull off some things to eat it when is no biggie but the fact she never even refilled our drinks or anything. I was catered this at a team meeting and it doesn't taste any better than something from the freezer aisle. I would never go here. It was nothing special. The chicken pot pie could use herbs or some other spices to make it stand out. I was in the mood for a burger and so I came in a little after 12. I was directed to the counter where I waited and waited, but no one came to take my order. The manager answered questions and told a customer and her daughter, seated to my left, a heartwarming story about Metro Diner's humble roots in Jacksonville providing service and taste from Florida and now across the country. A waitress brought food to the two friends seated to my right and then returned to make sure everything tasted great. I continued to wait. I opened my book to read and then I jotted down some notes. I turned to try to get someone's attention, but they were all too busy with other customers. I will return to Metro and I want the manager to tell me that heartwarming story about "The Little Diner That Could"....pay attention to new customers, serve them tasty food, and provide a great experience while I eat a hamburger. read more

Our waitress Shaw was attentive , sweet and had a pretty smile . I went for the chicken and waffles as anybody and everybody that knows me knows my love for chicken and waffles. Their strawberry butter on top is and I like their sweet and spicy sauce (syrup and hot sauce) for the fried chicken . Now I'm not a fan that the standard chicken & waffle plate won't allow you to change the chicken breast to a wing or leg. I'm not a fan of breasts so that was a little disappointing especially as I know more ppl opt for wing, leg or thigh and NEVER the breast but nonetheless the food was good. My complaint is not with the food or service but with the food and spills left on the floor and never cleaned up. As we were led to our table, I took care not to walk into the water-like puddles and as we waited for our food, I watched as the waitress brought our dinner and spilled a half dozen fries off the plate. She made no attempt to clean up after herself and other staff members just walked by and stepped in the fries. It certainly doesn't make for a pleasant dining experience. This was our first visit to Metro Diner. They had a little wait but that wasn't a problem for us. When we got in, we were surprised at how much like a diner it really was which was a nice touch. Our server was very friendly and she moved quickly to make sure all of her tables were good. My husband had the fried chicken and waffle which was amazing (omg that strawberry butter!) and I had the corn beef hash and poached eggs which was just okay (not anything I would get again or recommend). So many things WRONG during my visit. Went there shortly after they opened for breakfast. At least 2 of the waitress STUNK of CIGARETTES so every time they passed us we got a smell and made us lose our appetite even more. Our friend's (male) glass of water was DIRTY with a lipstick mark on it! Our food took forever! And when it was delivered to us, the waitress carrying our plates had her thumb in one of our plates, touching our food!!! So gross! The FOOD itself was NOT GOOD. I had eggs benedict that was DISGUSTING. My husband food and our friends food was also "just ok". Only upside was how awesome the manager was about our whole experience and took care of the bill (esp since we barely even touched our food) and offered us something else but we decided just to leave. Ate here and thought the food was great! The hamburger was HUGE! My kids enjoyed the huge selection of food on the menu. We really liked the variety and price. There was definitely something for everyone. The only downside is the parking is terrible in the shopping center, but that's not something that is easily fixed here in Charleston. read more
