Decided to try our luck on Father's day. 15 minute wait...no big deal. The crew here is a well oiled machine! Friendly, Fast and really solid "diner food". Our server was super (feel so bad that we cannot remember her name!) I went with the "Meat lover's Scramble bowl". Bacon,sausage,ham,scrambled eggs over hashbrowns topped with hollandaise sauce and cheddar cheese. Perfect portion, not over done...just right. My wife opted for the two egg breakfast with bacon, hash browns and toast. Her eggs were cooked "eggzactly" how she likes them. The portion of bacon was outstanding (because I got a couple rashers!). The hash browns were crispy and "fluffy?". Diner breakfast at its best. I had the mexican scramble bowl (might have the name wrong) it was AWESOME!!! Fresh ingredients, good flavor, enough for 2 people if you are sharing pancakes, or bread pudding for example. I wanted to try something different and so I thought the Metro Diner was going to be a good option for an early dinner in West Ashley. Unfortunately, I never had a single bite. After being seated I was ignored by five wait staff who spent more time hanging out around the chef's counter. After 7-10 minutes of being ignored in a restaurant, not overly busy, I got up and left. I do not recommend this place or the service. Save your money and do like I did go across the street and spend it at MOD Pizza. read more

Our party of 3 was able to snatch a table as soon as we walked in. We were greeted by our waiter (I wish I remembered her name) and placed our orders. I had a reservation ordering grits because many people do not produce good grits. I decided to take a risk & I should've listened to my inner thoughts. Those grits were not stirred with soul! Lol I substituted with well done hash browns. Other than that, my meal three meat omelette was delicious! My brother order the chicken and waffle with strawberry butter & my mother order the 3 egg breakfast. Presentation was exceptional. The food was hot and appetizing. To be honest, I was somewhat apprehensive when my friend suggested Metro Dinner for breakfast after my experiences at 'breakfast' spots in Mt. Pleasant ... the noise, the crowds, poor lighting, meh coffee. So, it was a pleasant surprise to be warmly greeted and immediately seated at Metro. The booth was comfortable and spacious. The interior was bright. Though the place was packed, the noise level was contained ... we actually could converse which, too often, is a rarity these days. In traditional diner fashion, the large menu has 'all day' choices which is always appreciated; however, for me, I zoned in quickly to egg/omelette choices which comfortably fit into my weight watching lifestyle. I found my fav ... a Western Omelette. No problem to make it with egg whites ... all scrambled up? Sure! Substitute a fresh fruit cup for grits or home fries? No problem and no up charge. The portion was generous and well prepared. The coffee was hot which is always a good thing. Service was leisurely and efficient. Sure wish we had a Metro Diner in Mount Pleasant. read more

This time around I went with breakfast and hit the vegetarian omelet. I wasn't necessarily trying to be healthy, I honestly love a good omelet stuffed with veggies and the asparagus sold me. This one I would give two stars, it was just really dry and blah. The hubs and one of our friends got the Holy Davoli Burger and it lived up to the hype. It's huge and juicy and they both said all positive things. Our other friend got the avocado wrap and really liked it as well! Also noteworthy, they have bloody Mary's for 2.99. The hubs got one and said it was good. They also have 2.99 mimosas which I plan to try at some point! I would still definitely hit this place up, but i wouldn't order the veggie omelet again. We visited after church this morning, and the place was packed. We ended up waiting 10 minutes longer than we should have, because we never received a text due to an incorrect number being entered. When I asked the hostess about it, she immediately said, "oh my goodness. I'm so sorry. Here, come on." And had a seated immediately. She was so kind. My husband enjoyed fried chicken sandwich and I had the southwestern bowl. Both were great! I will say, $30 for a sandwich and a bowl was a bit steep, but that is OK. What a fantastic place for both food and atmosphere. I had the privilege to sit at the bar since I was a lone diner. I had just flown in on an early flight and was ravenous. I was looking at a long week of work and just wanted some comfort food. Diners are good for that. Facing the kitchen once my order was placed I witnessed the drama that goes on in a place like this. The whole staff were wearing masks BTW and working in a hot kitchen. Needless to say they were dedicated to serving their customers and keeping everyone safe. The kitchen had their characters; nice cook, surly cook, sous chefs, waitresses and the manager that kept things going. Judging by the steady stream of customers, it was a popular place. A little delayed in writing my review, but I unfortunately had to come to Charleston on an emergency family trip. After a long day of travel and being at the hospital, my mom and I decided to come here for a late meal. They were actually busy at this time on a weekday night, but we were able to get seated quickly. Service was a little slow. Both of us ordered breakfast items - mom got an omelet and I got the cinnamon roll pancakes. I did not try my mom's omelet, but she enjoyed it, although she realized she likes a cheesier omelet. I really enjoyed my pancakes. I love cinnamon rolls and I love pancakes, so this was a fantastic combination - loved the candied pecans on top as well. Our waitress mentioned that these were sweet and to try it without syrup. I did, and she was right in that it was not needed. Very good and would have again, especially since I have a sweet tooth! Yum, my kind of pancakes! Metro was what we needed after a long day - would have preferred a little quicker service, but overall, no big complaints. My only suggestion to others - park in the main parking lot with the grocery store as their restaurant front parking is tight and not easy to navigate if the lot is full. Lyn is a little crazy and Tammie is outrageous. They are one of two of the line cooks here that are hilarious AF!! It was so entertaining as Lyn cracked 10 eggs to make my perfect 2 Eggs Over easy breakfast meal. I wanted to say it was a waste but Lyn would not let anything out of the kitchen that was less than perfect. Danny had the pot roast meal and as Lyn realized it had braised too long and she started over to ensure that we got the perfect pot roast platter that we ordered. This kitchen could use some perfecting, don't get me wrong. They do hold themselves and each other to higher standers which I appreciate. We LOVE coming here everyone is extremely friendly, if you are lucky enough to get Tina as your server, you will not be in need of anything. She was amazing, a true to this business. Make sure to read the board when you come, the country fried steak is the best in the area. And the bathrooms are always clean. The Metro Diner is a favorite stop for us whenever we find ourselves in West Ashley. It is usually quick service, the prices are reasonable and the servers are TOP NOTCH! Tonight we had Dawn, a personable lady who never left us hanging for a drink refill or other necessities. We usually visit in the mornings, but, a drop off at the airport meant a late evening stop for some of their fabulous fried chicken and a teriyaki steak bowl. Both were great and then there was room for the Pumpkin Bread Pudding. **chef's kiss** My seasonal favorite. I also need to add that they serve one of my favorite plates year-round....the turkey and dressing plate. Sometimes you just want a taste of Thanksgiving, even if it's Summer, y'all. There was a waitress there called Andali or Anali or close who not only provided superb service but was one of the most pleasant and charming waitresses I have ever had in South Carolina.
