IT IS A SHAME THAT I AM WRITING THIS. I AM QUITE DISAPPOINTED. BUT, MORE SO I THINK THAT METRO HAS MADE A VERY POOR BUSINESS DECISION! Let me 1st say that we eat here 2, sometimes 3 times a week...since they opened. We are regulars....you know ...where the locals eat. We are there bread and butter when the tourists and snowbirds aren't here. Yesterday, the Monday after Thanksgiving, we went to Metro for a late lunch. We arrived at 2:40pm. The patio was mobbed as we tried to open the front door. It was locked. We tried it again as 2 more people walked up to try to enter. It was locked. We read the hours on the door. THEY ARE NOW CLOSED FRO 2:30‐5PM! WHAT? I can't believe, with their location in front of the mall, that they are going to be closed, now that people know they are there, during Christmas shopping time!! And...now is when the snowbirds start showing up!! Personally, I think this is a huge bad business decision! And, lest I forget...those peopleoon the patio? It was some sort of staff gathering (30 or so people). Not. One person offered an explanation or apology. I am certain that we weren't the only ones to pull on the door handle yesterday. I ate there twice last week. Everyone knows me. Not once did anyone say there would be new hours. No notices on the tables. Nothing to warn the regulars. I guess Metro Diner is NOT Where the Locals Eat. We have been to quite a few Metro Diners and this one had good reviews so we ventured in. I agree with the review. Food was delicious and the customer service was excellent. My 10 year old son had their sausage egg and cheese on croissant and ate the entire sandwich. I would go back to this Metro Diner again whenever we are in the area. read more

Went here for breakfast yesterday, had the crab cake Benedict, Mike my server suggested to put some avocado on it and it was quite delicious. My wife got the chicken and waffles and that was some of the best chicken we have had in a very long time. We will definitely be back again soon. read more

Food was average, not very special and was not worth the price. Three people had a bill of $42.50 when drinking water and one cup of coffee. One person asked to get a singular pancake added to a breakfast combo with pancakes. The waitress proceeded to add it as a separate item and it was $4.50 and had us under the impression it would just be an add on and insisted on adding it. We should have been informed of it being an additional item on bill. The waitress seemed to be just running up the bill. read more

If you have ever been to a Metro Diner you know what to expect. What is that you ask? Quantity over quality. In some aspects this is a plus, however many items lack that southern diner taste due to the vast amount of food. On the bright side of it all you are getting what you paid for. There was a group of 20 of us for my church Trinity Lutheran Church we call ourselves Ladies Night Live. They accommodated all 20 of us and the service was wonderful and the people were very friendly and the food was excellent with very reasonable prices. read more

Really loved the grilled cheese! And love the fact that the calorie counts are on the menu. Very helpful. Although it did deter my husband from the chicken and waffles. However, the traditional turkey and dressing he did have he thoroughly enjoyed. Service was good. read more

This was a fabulous restaurant. We went for lunch. Our waitress Miranda provided excellent service. She was very attentive as it was our first time to this establishment. There is a wide variety of choices and they had daily specials. Very neat and clean. The food was delicious. Will definitely be back with friends. Enjoy this restaurant for breakfast but was real upset when I learned they changed the menu & removed my favorite dish........bagels & lox! Being that this restaurant caters to a lot of snowbirds & tourists from the north, I think this was a huge mistake. The wait staff were excellent & the manager came by & agreed with me. Went here with a coworker. Food was fantastic. She got the fried chicken sandwich and loved it. I got the fried chicken and it was fantastic. I asked the waitress about a sauce to go with it and she suggested their syrup with Louisiana hot sauce. Oh my God, I'm dying! Who would have ever thought it would be so amazingly delicious! There was way too much food so not only did I bring it home, but stopped at the grocery store to pick up maple syrup and Elysian a hot sauce. :-) Manager stopped by to check on our food and our waitress, Chrissy/Chrissie, was fantastic. Only reason I'm giving it four stars is because we got there at 12:30 and didn't get our food until close to 130. I think it was around 120. Great experience, though. We were in Daytona Beach for a few days and were looking for a "diner" type place for breakfast on our way out of town. Someone suggested Metro Diner. What a great recommendation! This diner is excellent. Everything about it was 5 star. The food was exactly what we wanted, fresh and prepared just right. The servers were so pleasant and helpful, the ambiance was light and airy, and the cleanliness was perfect. Wish we had a Metro Diner in Vero Beach. read more

Was there on a Sunday morning expecting to wait! Walked in and got a seat at the counter -right next to where all the food was coming out. Everything looked so good-could not decide which one to order. There was so much food. Everything came out quick and hot- the kitchen staff was right on the ball. My wife and I were with another couple from out of town and looking for a place to have breakfast up near the Auto Mall in north Daytona. I looked up a couple places and Metro Diner was closest so we went there. I'm always a little nervous taking people to someplace I haven't been before, but, luckily it was a great choice. Went for breakfast around 930 am and got in right away. Good attentive service and the restaurant is cute, clean and comfortable. Oh and the food was really good! We thought the portions (esp the hash browns) were huge. I had a veggie omelet and honestly have never had a bigger, stuffed omelet! Wish I would have taken a picture! Very good! Everyone else was equally impressed and we ended up taking a few doggie bags home - when does that happen at breakfast?!? Highly recommend! read more

This was our first time at metro diner. From the time we walked in till we left it was amazing. So many options to choose from! Everything was delicious. But most of all our amazing waitress Jamie G was the best I have ever experienced. She greeted us with such a upbeat personality, a big smile and some nice conversation. This is by far, one of the best eateries in town. Quick service, great food and wonderful employees. Normally sit at the counter because I love watching them cook. TREY will always say hello and doesn't mind when we ask what they are making, that way we k now what to try next time!! If they had a tip jat by the counter, I would totally give them a tip! I had read about Metro Diner opening in Daytona Beach, in front of the Volusia Mall and since I sometimes work at the mall, I watched it being built. I would not usually do something as crazy as to attempt to dine at a place on opening day, but I did. I was amazed at the level of service & training they were giving the new employees. I seriously believe there was a one-on-one ratio of trainers to employees including behind the line, which should have caused chaos in a long narrow kitchen but food was coming out hot and fast. I have now become a regular although I seldom dine in the restaurant favoring take out since I have no one to dine with. Metro has some regular diner fare that you would expect but they also feature some unique dishes as well. Try one of the daily, rotating specials up on the chalkboard! My favorite go-to comfort food is their meatloaf with mashed red potatoes. Mmm-mmm almost like mama used to make. They also have great breakfasts and very good coffee to get your eyes open in the morning. Give them a try; I don't think you'll be disappointed. read more

This is a great place but it is so cold in here I don't think we can stay until the food comes. One lady is hugging her husband to stay warm. A man went to his car for a coat. I hope the kitchen help is comfortable because they are staying cool at the expense of their customers. We all are wearing sweatshirts and are shivering. read more

Just out and about shopping and ran to metro Diner, had been there for breakfast before but our first time for dinner. They were out of my husbands choice of pot roast, so he ordered what I ordered (meatloaf). After a few minutes the manager comes over and says he was sorry he only had 1 order of meatloaf left and because of all the inconvenience he would comp our entire dinner!!!! What, we weren't looking for anything like that but he insisted. His name is Michael Van Sweringen and his thoughtfulness was greatly appreciated and we definitely will go back. My daughters came to town for Mother's Day and they treated me and my mother to Metro Diner for dinner. My daughters went inside to pick up our food and all they heard was loud personal conversations that a customer should not over hear coming from the kitchen. They waited not long for the food. We tipped heavy as a thank you to essential workers. We got the food home and everything went downhill. This is the list of what we experienced once we get the food home. The first meal was missing their side dish completely. So they only had half their food which left them still hungry once they finish their meal. All 4 meals had bread that was so old we couldn't even bite into it. The crust we could not even bite into. So we had to remove the bread from our sandwiches which left us unsatisfied and still a little hungry. The fries were so gross we couldn't even eat them. One meal had only one and half bites which also left them still hungry. I called the store to just notify them of what our experience was. I spoke with the manager, but told him I wasn't expecting anything in return I just wanted to notify him that this sucked because this was our Mother's Day dinner. We chose Metro diner as our restaurant to get takeout from. I let him know about the conversations my daughters overheard. He apologized. He kept saying I'm sorry. He said he wanted to make it up and was going to mail me a gift certificate to make up for our dinner being terrible. He took my name and my address and we never received the certificate. I was there on Monday I was waiting to get there so much . I have traveled from Daytona many times to palm coast since they opened and was so looking forward to the store closer to me . I was hopeful it would be as good . So I was sat I wanted a booth they had plenty but the hostess wanted to sit us at a table . I asked again to sit at a booth so she did maybe it was another servers turn I get it I've been a manager for many yrs in the restaurant business. Now I am a server again by choice lol . So I ordered the steak tips special and my husband ordered the Salisbury steak we ordered 2 waters with lemon I was surprised they had no lemon so not a deal I know new restaurants ironing out the kinks , it's ok so she asked us how we wanted Salisbury steak cooked not sure why she asked . she wasn't sure but if they asked she was gonna be safe to know . She was young very thoughtful girl . Very attentive . She did a great job give her a raise not sure of her name she knows who she is . I got my food and I had a short curly hair a beard hair I noticed the cook had kept touching his face he had a shout well groomed beard but he kept touching it I'm sure it belonged to him. If you r going to have a beard wear a hat on it ok.so I told her I was very hungry no a deal breaker I understand it happens the manager took it off my bill so all in all it was ok . We were excited to see a Metro Diner here in Daytona, as we've eaten at the Jax and Palm Coast locations many times. We tried the Daytona one on 4.13.19. Restaurant was not busy upon arrival, and we were seated immediately. Staff very friendly, and the restuarant was clean. More than adequate staff was on duty to handle the light business flow. We ordered, and our food arrived after somewhat of a long wait. That wouldn't have been an issue, but the only item that was hot was our fried fish. Both orders of fries were barely above room temp, my French Dip was the same, and the 'cornbread' waffle app tasted a lot like a regular waffle. It had set under the heat lamp long enough to melt the butter, and make part of the waffle soggy. They tried to hide this fact by moving the soggy waffle part to the bottom of the stack, and put on fresh butter. Did we complain? No, we were too hungry to wait again. Will we be back? Way too many restuarants in Daytona that provide a 'wow' experience consistently to waste another $35 on a 'meh' experience. read more
