Went for breakfast and was disappointed. Waiting at least 5 minutes before a server asks if anyone had taken my drink order. The person who was supposed to be my server comes by and says she didn't see me come in. What about seeing me sitting there at a very visible table?? Ordered eggs, ham, home fries and English muffin. Waiting about 15 minutes and I hear the server ask the cook about my order. They didn't cook up the ham so they are remaking everything. Why not give me the rest of the order that is ready while the ham is cooking?? Home fries are huge chunks of potatoes that have ZERO seasoning. No onions, peppers, salt, pepper, seasonings... absolutely plain. Never seen that anywhere and the server couldn't explain why. If you look on the back of the menu they do list onions and peppers can be added for 75 cents each! That's not how it's done. One side of the English muffing was very hard. No butter brought out. OJ was not cold. The ham was very good. I don't like being solicited for donations, I do more than my share to help peoI'm just there to eat. Sitting and eating when a bus boy approached us and just stood there until I asked what he needed and he asked us to hand him our condiment tray and he just took it away and never came back. I was like WTH! I looked at my husband and said what was that about? He had to have it right now while we are still eating? I needed the ketchup and the salt and pepper so my husband went to an empty table and grabbed another condiment bin. Since Metro Diner opened, I have dined here. Originally I came because it was new. Consistently great food and awesome service keeps me coming back. First thing that came to mind after visiting Metro Diner for the first time is WOW...and I feel like that after I leave each time since. Overall a really great experience. The top notch service begins when you are greeted walking in. Food is served in large portions. Hands down the best thing on the menu is the Fried Chicken and Waffle with Strawberry Butter. Some of the best fried chicken I have had (sorry Grandma). The pancakes and burgers are great too. Sit up at the counter for a unique experience to watch the magic in the kitchen. Back to the service and experience. If anything at all is not right you can just tell the staff and they will make it right. Most these issues get caught at the food window where the product is looked over like a hawk for quality before a runner sends it out. If you wear your metro gear you get a discount! For a chain, this place is pretty bomb. Don't let the clientele of mostly elderly people fool you my friends. I came here with two of my friends and we started out with the cheesy tots which were delicious, crispy, and full of cheese! Glass of wine was only $4 as well!! Super affordable. I got the avocado veggie wrap with extra fried jalapeñoes (sooo tasty if you like a kick in your food, I'd throw them on a burger or eggs!) And extra sauces, our server NICOLE was fantastic!!! She was training someone and she seemed to know exactly the whole menu and even offered me the cheaper price of my drink because of a discrepancy between the advertisement on the table and the price on the menu. First experience was when it was new, service was extremely slow (they admittedly overlooked is). For selection, food is a lot of high fat, high calorie fare (fried, more fried...). I really wanted to like this place because of the good reviews. But my boyfriend had been there right after it opened and told me it was meh. He took me anyway. It was less than meh. The server told me they had cinnamon coffee so I ordered that. Nope. It was hazelnut. Thankfully I like hazelnut coffee too. I also ordered stuffed French toast. It was great around the edges. However about a 1 inch by 1 inch square was completely frozen in the middle. It was obviously not fresh. My boyfriend's breakfast sandwich was good. He said that both of his other meals he had were obviously also frozen and reheated (but only slightly reheated). This is a diner! Everything should be fresh! Times Square Diner is a locally owned (I think), GREAT, scratch kitchen restaurant. I'll keep going there. I won't be going back to Metro again. read more

Tried it for the first time today. We were seated quickly, even though it was busy. Restaurant was clean and although it was busy, it wasn't too loud. We had avocado toast, fish and chips and the French drip. All were very good. Coffee was great too. They have 2.99 mimosas and bloody Mary's. Although we didn't have one, they looked good! Went for breakfast this past Sunday. Due to the crowd we sat at the counter. We greeted immediately and was offered menus and beverages. We placed our orders and then waited and waited and waited. Finally after 40 minutes I asked the server when to expect our meals. Since we were right there on the line we could hear and see the chaos, but still 40 minutes seemed a bit too long. This place is great for lunch! I went here twice during my work visit to Melbourne. I had the shrimp and grits on my first visit and I was not really a fan of the rice cakes and all of the cream sauce. I had a shrimp po-boy on my second visit and it was perfect. The hash browns were nothing special and mostly cold too. Service was good until after we received our food. The waitress never came back to check how everything was. Do not go here for a meal if you want to relax and speak with friends. Arrived today (Saturday 12/15) and had Michelle as our waitress .
