This is my go-to brunch spot for whenever friends and/or family visit. Huge portions, reasonable prices, and friendly service. I've never had a bad experience here with either the food or the waitstaff and always leave with a full belly! I've had breakfast/brunch/lunch options and everything has been delectable. Their yo challa dish is good but extremely rich. You only need a few bites to satisfy your sweetness craving. We split one between six people and it was plenty! The only reason why I knocked down a star is that their mimosas are more orange juice than sparkling wine (a splash, really). Mimosa ratio should be: 75% sparkling wine/champagne to 25% OJ. Or else why order a mimosa in the first place and just get plain ol' orange juice instead, for a cheaper price. read more

Sorry, I had high hopes for this place. I came at 7:35pm last night, taking a risk because they close at 8PM. The gentleman at the door seated me immediately and then it went down hill from there. Service: Over 15 minutes had pass and finally the waitress (who didn't introduce herself) saw me looking around told me that she will be there. Food: I had ordered the chicken and waffle, the loaded chips, hot chocolate and Coke Zero. The food came out less than 5 minutes of the waitress placing the order. Everything was COLD, including the chicken and the waffle. NOTHING WAS COOKED FRESH!! I had tasted the loaded potato and the meat was cold. The waitress had took it back to the kitchen and they had made another one. I wondered why did the second one take long to make than the first one. Normally the food is out of the park. Not so much today. I went basic and 9rdered the chicken tenders and fries. The chicken was dry and Luke warm at best, the fries were cold and stale, ranch dressing was closer to milk than a dressing. The stuffed french toast that my husband got was amazing as always . Would of complained or sent the food back, but did not want to talk to waitress. Will order a specially item next time instead of playing it safe. read more

My first time here after flying in from Texas. The options were plentiful and the food was good. The waiter was nice but a little slow. The table behind me asked another waitress was our waiter on a break because it was taking so long. I was thinking the same thing. There were tables on both sides of me complaining about something. On a trip, we luckily discovered the Metro Diner. Not only were our meals (meatloaf, mashed potatoes, fresh green beans) wonderful, our server, Makayla, was the absolute best! She is so friendly, joyful, and so knowledgeable about the diner and it's story and answered all our questions about menu items, all the time with a fantastic smile on her face. I watched her with some of her other customers and she treated each like they were the most important people in the diner. truly one of the best diners i've been too. me and my boyfriend just moved to pooler and have already eaten here 3 times. the food is so good and even some of the menu items that are questionable always end up tasting amazing. the service is okay.. i think it's hit or miss. breakfast/lunch i've always gotten good staff but i've come on slower evenings and the staff seemed checked out for the night and not very helpful. either way it's definitely one of my favorite spots to grab a quick bite that's filling and affordable. we recommend to everybody! read more

We have been here many times over the years, however, this was the worst experience we have ever had. We arrived when they opened. 8am on a Thursday. Maybe that was our mistake. When our server came to the table we were informed that they didn't have any biscuits ready. You're a breakfast place with no biscuits? Not give us a few minutes... you had none ready! So my husband opted for toast and gravy. When his came out without my meal, it was cold. I mean the bottom of the plate wasn't even warm. I ordered the steak bowl but I was not offered a steak knife to cut it. After my meal I went to wash my hands. Yep you guessed it...no soap. I stopped in there this morning for breakfast. Not the first time there but what I noticed while sitting at the bar area was a bit disturbing. Although the food was good and hot and the service was good, there was one gentleman I'm guessing training some staff. Although he was very descriptive explaining things, he failed in one aspect of food handling. He was wearing gloves but while doing so, he was touching peoples food while the training part was going on but he was also handling other items of receipts, touching the counters and handling other items while at the same time touching the food. This is food handling 101, you don't touch it. If you touch something else and go to touch the food, you need to change gloves. With todays epidemic going on, the last thing you want is handling food incorrectly. This will not discourage any return trips, however I hope things get better in food preparation and handling read more

My granddaughter and I took my son for Father's Day. And I cannot rave enough about this place. We check in online, so when we got there, there was only a 20 minute wait (even though there must have been 25-30 people waiting. I got the chicken and waffles with strawberry butter. It was advertised with spicy syrup but only came with regular syrup. But that's ok. I got a pineapple mimosa. They are not stingy with whatever cider they use. (not sure if it was wine or champagne as I don't drink much) . It was good. My son got the breakfast burger. And I swear that was the biggest burger I have ever seen. He said it was delicious. He also got the flavored coffee of the day. It was hazelnut. The coffee was really really weak. I would not recommend it. But the regular coffee I got with my mimosa was great. My granddaughter got the silver dollar pancakes. It comes with alot of pancakes and she loved them. I wish I had asked my waitress's name. She was awesome. It was a Oriental girl with a tan sweater on. She gave us just the right amount of attention without hovering even though the place was slammed. Will definitely be back. Great little diner located on the outside of the Pooler outlet stores. While their menu is much smaller than most diners, it offers a good variety of breakfast, sandwiches and comfort foods. Not as awesome as before, but still pretty good food. Their menu has been cut significantly, and signature favorites like stuffed French Toast and the Bold City Burger are gone. Although the Bold City Burger, which I was craving, was the day's special. Unfortunately, our server never mentioned the specials and I only saw the board (which was NOT posted at the entrance) until after our food arrived and I saw it on a trip to the restroom. Although hot and sunny there was enough of a breeze that we thought the patio would be okay (it's a very busy location and the wait was an hour, so we opted for first-available). Despite it be a toasty 82 degrees, they had the ceiling HEATER kick on several times during our meal and it was absolutely miserable. Although they still serve the food on real plates, they only offer flimsy plastic utensils. Luckily what we did order was tasty. Their famous Shrimp & Grits are still on the menu and was a generous portion with plenty of plump shrimp and andouille sausage slices. My wife had the chicken salad on a croissant with a fruit cup on the side. After eating we tried to expedite our check, but the server was not attentive and we couldn't take the ceiling heater any more and just paid at the to-go register to get away from the heater. read more

Absolutely a great eating experience! Food is prepared perfectly and there is no way you're leaving hungry!! Breakfast, lunch and dinner, it's all there! It's not a "diner" like the ones up north, it's more like an open concept farmhouse kitchen. (Even better)! We're not sure what they're paying or feeding their staff, but everyone we encountered was suspiciously pleasant!! Even the manager, Brittany came by our table twice! Atmosphere - Modern take on their original location in Jacksonville. Mostly table service in this location. The dinner counter top face the kitchen so the wait staff needs to take care of you from behind. Food Drinks - none. Lunch - none. Service - I hate reading "I would give them 0 stars but Yelp will not allow me too". Well in this case they earned 0. Sorry but this the section which you will hear me complain and make my point for 0 stars. We walked in a little after noon and the place was already full. Two other couples were in front of us. Both groups wanted tables, they could have selected the bar, what I call the counter, 10 to 15 minute wait for a table. So we decided to sit at the bar. No one was sitting there, space for 7 altogether. Two people sat on the far end, and another two between us. I noticed the first two had their drinks when the next two joined us. Then the drink orders were taken after the first group's food order was taken. As that was occurring I noticed the first couple with their drinks having their order taken. During this time not a single person talked to us. After 15 minutes I decided that was enough and walked out, not a single word by anyone on staff. While I was at the Jacksonville location the cooks would chat us up, the manager said hello and made sure everything was good. After driving away I wanted to let the manager know how poorly the staff did. But reflecting on my experience I do not even remember seeing a manager. Future - Maybe but not anytime soon. read more

We were in last Sunday afternoon around 3pm. We were very excited for our first visit after reading the reviews. The person that sat us just sat our menus down and walked away, she didn't even respond to us thanking her for the menus. The table was a little greasy also. Solid 4* Ok, so how excited was I when I saw that SAVANNAH now had a Metro Diner!?!?!?! Yo HOLLLLLAAAAAAA!!!!! Yes, Chicken and Waffles, Yo Holla on the Square, and Shrimp and Grits all Metro style, and now, only a little over an hour away. Walking into Metro, the setup and look is almost EXACTLY like what you would find in Jacksonville, including the counter and "Where Locals Eat" sign. This evening, I had the Stuffing Waffle. That's right, a waffle made out of stuffing, with mashed potatoes and gravy on top, capped by some grilled turkey and smothered in gravy. YES YES YES! The specials are so good, it's always a decision process on whether or not to get the Menu favorites or the specials. You can't go wrong. I have been meaning to get around to reviewing this restaurant. I lived in Savannah for four years and I almost missed coming to this place. Every time I frequented The Metro, and let me say, I came here for breakfast, lunch AND dinner, this place was ALWAYS busy! If you look at the menu you will know why, there are so many delicious choices. The dish you should not miss is the Meatloaf! I had a hard time ordering anything else! If you are in the mood for a burger I would highly recommend the Bold City Burger! It is a disrupter to the burger industry, deliciously different! For breakfast, if you want something rich and sweet, the Pound Cake French Toast is a fantastic way to break your diet! I have never had a bad experience here! The customer service is outstanding and modernized, i.e your check is taken at the table and your credit card never leaves your sight, paid on an I-pad. The atmosphere is cute and quaint. The specials on a blackboard and mimosas in the morning are a nice touch. This place is casual, delicious & you will not be disappointed!! If you come here it is sure to be a regular hangout! Very upset with my visit to this establishment. I asked myself, why haven't I been here yet when I've been in Savannah for almost a year. Today I got my answer to that question. Let's start by walking in. The place looks cool, which is the only reason I'm okay with giving 1 star. Hostess: Didn't greet me, just stared at me until I said seating for 1. I mean, is it hard to believe that people dine alone? It seemed as if I wasn't going to get seated since I was alone. Terrible! Waitress: friendly to start, mentioned getting a sweet tea or another drink to start which is great up selling when the customers come in. That part I enjoyed. After that it went south! Food: the menu had breakfast items and the rest is something fried. I don't understand how a Diner doesn't have a standard grilled chicken sandwich. Not everyone wants to eat something greasy or fried at a restaurant. I will say she did offer to make me a tender sandwich and have them grill them instead of fry them. I didn't want to take the chance of them being raw. I opted for the avocado toast. Very boring, no seasoning or anything on this. Just wheat bread with a ton of avocado. When sending avocado to a table, make sure it's all green and it doesn't have and black in it. It's not appealing. People eat with their eyes first. I had the sweet tea and this was decent. 5 minutes into eating, the waitress drops off my ticket and doesn't return until I pushed my plate to the middle of the table when I was done. No visit to see how my meal was, no refill of my tea, no ask if I wanted desert or anything else since I ordered something I didn't really come in for. There was no care for the customer here. This is where it gets better. I stared at the servers all huddled up in the corner just laughing and having a great time. It's sad to see that energy was not brought back to their tables. The servers weren't smiling and laughing with their tables, and these are the people who are going to tip them, not the other servers! Upon getting my receipt for my charge, I overheard the server asking the other table she had if they wanted some tea or water to go. I was excited to be able to take some tea to go. Guess who didn't get asked that? Yes, it was me! I kindly signed my tab and still left a tip. The sad part is, someone like me understands how working for tips can be tough. I understand that serving one person won't warrant the same tip as a table of two or more. My rule is to tip 50% of my bill anytime I dine alone just so the server doesn't miss out when serving just myself. She missed this mark. I'm a local, I would have been back weekly had the service been stellar. I frequent many restaurants in Savannah/Pooler area looking for the best food and ultimately the best service so I can spend my money and give to people in the service industry. This place missed that mark and I'd be embarrassed to say I was a server here. Sadly this is pretty common with most of the restaurants in the south. I thought southern hospitality was a thing, I'm just not too sure that actually exists here in the Savannah/Pooler area. I blame the leadership in the building for not having the staff properly trained. My store would never treat anyone like this! Ever! Im sure a response like mine is just one of few in the bunch. Ok, we were here a year ago and left a 5 star review, which is why we're here on our next trip through the Savannah area. Today different. It's 6:25 and about 4-5 tables occupied. Not super busy for dinner time. No hostess or anybody to seat us, had to grab a server. She explained they are short staffed and ask I be understanding. The floors are filthy. Several tables not cleaned. I ask for a booth all dirty and she doesn't have time to clean one. There are apparently off duty employees and families here that are getting more attention than customers. My wife says she will not be eating here here. I went to the rest rooms......yea as expected filthy. We ordered coffee, none ready, they'll make some. I order corn beef and egg special. It's ok. The overall experience is taking away from of the food is really as expected. We've now been here forty minutes. No one available to get a coffee refill or a check, very frustrating. Oh, 2 groups of four have been waiting for a hostess, one group just stormed out. This place is on a roll tonight, no one here cares. Guys, if management reads this, you can do a lot better.
