On our way to NC always stay in the Savannah area as our first rest stop. We like somewhere close by to the hotel and decided on Sam Snead's. This venue was great. Tables, booths, a nice bar area with high tops . Plenty of cozy seating with an old school golf vibe to relax and have a bite. The service was excellent. The food was very good, served hot and fresh and in a timely manner. The prices were very reasonable. A good variety of wine , beer and drink choices. There were families, couples and groups enjoying dinner. We had stuffed mushrooms, Chicken Marsala, center cut pork chops along with great sides that were very good. Everything was prepared as ordered and came out hot and delicious. Plenty of free parking . It does get busy and a reservation is a good idea. The menu has alot of variety and from.what I hear you can't go wrong. I ordered a side Cesar Salad and the Flatbread. I can be very indecisive so being able to do 1/2 Chicken & 1/2 Steak! The crowd is typically a tad older. They have a decent sized menu. I love their French onion soup. The flatbreads are massive! You can't go wrong-- they're all delicious. The sandwich's and burgers are also a good choice. The steaks and juicy and typically served with smashed potatoes. My wife and I love this place. We started off with drinks from the bar. My wife got a smoky Manhattan, and it was served with a lid on. When she removed the lid, the smoke rose from the drink. Really cool! (That made my Rum and Coke look boring. But it was as good, though!). For dinner, I had the Chicken Tenders dinner, which was really tasty. It came with my choice of two sides, so I selected mashed redskin potatoes, and some cole slaw. My wife opted for the Tavern Flatbread. She couldn't decide if she wanted Steak or Spicy Shrimp, so our server suggested that she order it half and half. Steak on one side, and spicy shrimp on the other! Disappointed with our dinner - on a Thursday night. You should be satisfied with a $129 (before tip) dinner (for 2). Pleased that they weren't busy when we arrived; service was good but the food was such a disappointment - especially for the price. The shrimp (spicy) appetizer was mediocre - very little sauce - so mostly plain fried shrimp. The crab cakes (entree) were ok but glad they came with a flavorful sauce. The green beans (side) were mediocre. The red skin potatoes were flavorful but dry. The featured seafood was blackened snapper - mediocre and NOT blackened. A customer seated behind us was upset about his steak - ordered medium but received it medium RARE. He didn't order a replacement. We won't be back. read more

The only thing I have to say is the fries aren't to die for but that's doesn't mean they deserve a lesser star for it. They weren't too hot or crispy. Just okay. Lots of dark wood and quiet conversations. Our waitress was amazing. Friendly but not annoying and she had answers to all of our questions. Most importantly, she got all of our orders right. I ordered the ribeye steak (medium). Mashed potatoes and garlic green beans came with the steak and a house salad came out before. The homemade balsamic dressing was really good. We came here as we were coming back from South Carolina. We walked in and it immediately showed it was a golf restaurant. We sat down and met our waitress. We ordered a bruschetta app and the wife got an onion soup. We then got a Reuben sandwich and a Cobb salad. With the Reuben came with fries and then they brought sweet potato fries. The Reuben was good, not the best I've had but solid. Wish there was more meat to the sandwich. The fries were warm to Cold. You could tell they were previously frozen. The sweet potato fries were brought out fresh, but again, the inside was mushy as you can tell the fries were also previously frozen. The Cobb salad was good. Solid, nothing great. The chicken was sliced and not chunks or stripped. I thought it was a bit odd. French onion soup was good but nothing great. Overall I'd give it a 4. read more
