Shrimp & grits for my birthday did not disappoint! Service was excellent, as glasses stayed filled and everything was prompt. Friends had chicken and waffles, which was more than one person to eat. Stopped by after a shopping trip in Tanger. Fast and delicious! One of the biggest pancakes I've ever ate.

We always stop here on our trips to Savannah. They didn't disappoint us. Food was excellent and our server was personable and engaging. We felt like old friends. Had the avocado toast and it was a delicious alternative from the typical breakfast. Metro had happy customers and we will see you again next time we are in Savannah. read more

Stopped on a Sunday morning before the long drive home. Were told a 40 min wait but 20 mins later we were seated. He ordered the corned beef hash and really enjoyed it. I ordered the Bissell breakfast. Eggs cooked perfect, fluffy pancakes, glad I added grilled onion to my hash browns and turkey links were almost as good as mine. Would have liked my toast to come buttered but that's a personal preference. Staff was terrific - got everything just right. read more

We love Metro Diner and eat there often. I am truly sensitive to the COVID restrictions, and have taken that into consideration when writing this review. We didn't get sat. We were told the kitchen was closed at 753. The posted close time on Yelp was 8pm. That was upsetting. read more

I have been here twice, its a nice restaurant with an outside eating area when weather permits. Once I had the chicken and waffles, which was good but a lot of food and I had to take half home, the second time I had the grilled or blackened fish which was a smaller portion but perfect for me and very tasty, I would order it again. Very GOOD!!! I had the chicken and waffles with the spicy syrup. The give you HALF of a fried chicken, a whole waffle, and strawberry butter. The strawberry butter should be sold in grocery stores. My wife and I have been several times and have always enjoyed the food and service from the wait staff. That said, we were treated rudely by the same hostess the last two visits. Everything from the looks given to us, not speaking, and ignoring our very kind (initial) ask to clean the table we were seated at the last visit (I wished i had taken a pic of the table that was clearly never cleaned). When the hostess came to wipe it down after a second ask, she had a paper hand napkin and cleaned the half of the table we weren't using. Thankfully we had wipes to clean it ourselves. I want to assume that this has nothing to do with anything more than the hostess being in a bad mood the last couple of times, but it makes you wonder. I believe we'll give it one more attempt, but this time we'll include photos. Thanks! read more

There was absolutely nothing special or particularly good about Metro Diner. The service was good, but the food was just so-so. The chicken and waffles were profoundly subpar. The chicken didn't taste like it's freshly breaded, the waffle was your standard Belgian waffle you can get anywhere, the strawberry butter was basic, and their "secret sauce" of hot sauce and syrup was just wrong. This is was my first visit. The restaurant was pretty full but we were seated quickly. The service was good . The reason I am only giving it 3 stars is because one of the plates was a disaster. My husband ordered chicken and waffles, he loved it. I tasted the chicken and it was pretty good. However, the beef hash with poached eggs and a biscuit wasn't that good. The biscuit was dry, the poached eggs weren't cooked properly (the white was still running clear) and the corn beef hash, well there was so many peppercorns still in it that it was almost impossible to eat. I've heard good things about the restaurant so I am not giving on it just yet. I will give it another try. Note** our waitress noticed something was wrong so she asked me, when I explained she called the manager. She removed my order from the bill and gave me something else on the house.
