This is not the first time we have been here. This is the most horrible experience we have had here. We had reservations for 1:30 pm and did not get seated until 2:00 pm. Once seated it took 30 more minutes to get water. Yes, it's Mother's Day - and they have a prix fixe menu, so there should be no excuses about taking orders or bringing stuff out. The table next to us told us it took them 30 minutes to get their biscuits for the table. We are still waiting. Our server took our drink orders and we still haven't received it yet. Oh and they have already ran out of food. Obviously they are not prepared for today. Now we only got two biscuits for a table of 4 - make that make sense. I will update later about the rest of the experience. There is nothing to update because we left the restaurant. I spoke with one manager who just came on shift and she had no idea what was going on. Another manager came to our table and ended up being rude and obnoxious and essentially told us to leave. All I can do is SMH and hope Metro figures it out. But from the look of things they had a lot of issues on sunday.

We came in for dinner on NYE and had checked out the menu on line ahead of time. The weekly menu showed a steak available, which wasn't when we arrived. Not to worry, as they had short ribs with polenta. I was sold. We started the evening with a martini for my husband and iced tea for me. I should have asked if the tea was flavored. It was, which I don't care for. I had a simple salad with goat cheese. Nothing fancy and very good. My husband had oysters, which he enjoyed. He really liked the paella. The short ribs were good, if a bit too rich for me and had quite lot of fat. We had the lemon pudding cake for dessert, which was just ok. We'd been wanting to come here for quite a while. It was a good meal, though quite expensive. Service was good and not rushed.

Plus, they sat at a horrible seat

Worst Mother's Day experience EVER. They were 30 minutes late seating us for our reservation. Sat at the table for an hour and a half with no food. I have a daughter with special needs and they just left us stranded. We ended up leaving without being fed. It was awful. Beyond awful. I would give zero stars if possible.

Love metro!! They made a birthday very special! Great service. I love the seasonal cocktails. The green beans were good as always. The burger here is one of the best but today a bit overcooked. Despite that great flavor! And those fries so crisp!

Too good! Top notch delish

My husband and I had came to this place back in 2016. It took me forever to try to find this restaurant. My experience the last couple times was very pleasant as well as this last time. Our server, Jim was very attentive, considerate, approachable, And came to check up on us every now and then. The food has always been really delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I like the vibe here, I love the table right next to the fireplace.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's very compatible for my taste. The heirloom tomatoes with mozzarella was top notch. Delicious definitely coming back here in the future.

Gosh, I think it's been over 10 years maybe more since we've been to Metro. It is such a wonderful restaurant with consistently great flavors. We ordered pretty much everything on the menu, including the gnocchi, burger, lobster, BLT, chop salad, brussels sprouts, corn soup, truffle, Parmesan fries, And enjoyed it all. I was very disappointed that they don't carry the metro Sundae anymore. That has always been my favorite dessert. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The service is impeccable and I highly recommend sitting in the fireplace room for great ambience[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] but [[HIGHLIGHT]]if you want a hip or vibe, then sit near the bar I love sitting outside, but it was a little chilly today.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommend Metro Lafayette.

Croque Monsieur with the addition of an egg. Yum!

Lovely lunch today at Metro. I had never been here before but wanted to give it a try. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat out on the patio which was very lovely. It wasn't crowded but the tables were spaced apart nicely so that even if it was, you wouldn't feel jammed in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server greeted us promptly and was very attentive the entire meal. Hats off to Vita! We started off with the mushroom flatbread with gruyere cheese. Both of us added salt and pepper and I hardly ever do that when I'm out, but honestly I felt the mushrooms were the issue as they were highly under seasoned. I ordered the Croque Monsieur and my table mate ordered the burger. My Croque Monsieur was absolutely delicious! A home run for sure and substantial enough that I could only eat half. It came with fries which were very delicious. I'm glad they weren't overly salty as I prefer fries not so salty. My tablemate asked for his burger medium rare and it came out well. He did enjoy the burger but I will never understand why restaurants ask you how you want it cooked and then don't cook it the way you ask or at least close to what you ask for. We really did enjoy our lunch though. I would definitely come back. The menu had a nice variety, I enjoyed my lunch and everyone who works there was very nice and attentive.

Popped in for lunch and decided to eat light. I've always seen Metro Lafayette which is located within the shopping center of Whole Foods and other businesses. We chose to sit in their patio area which was amazing -weather of 73 degrees made it delightful. Excellent service as our waiter always had a smile and our food came out within minutes. Food was mediocre as the crab salad was a little bland. Maybe with added lemon the taste would have been better. As for the ahi poke was A-ok. I would definitely come back to try other items in the near future.

On the regular rotation, this place never fails. The beet salad was so refreshing on a hot day, with a gorgeous citrus cocktail.

We opted to not sit outside, rather inside right by the exterior seating to still get the vibes but also some AC. I love places like Lafayette where all the businesses support each other and help each other grow. Their brews on tap are mostly all local, and we grabbed some Pilsners sourced from Lafayette's new brewery, Western Flyer. So fresh and crisp. Can't wait to also check that spot out. Food-wise, we came in mid-afternoon and grabbed a Kale Pancetta salad (they pre-split the salad for us on two plates which was so nice), and for the mains, we both grabbed the Tuna Melt with fries. The salad was delicious. I'm def a tuna melt girly, and I loved the addition of the ciabatta (?) as the bread option, so fresh as well. This tuna melt comes with grapes fyi, and a few other elements mixed in. I absolutely loved it, just sharing though as I know how some tuna stans like their tuna :) This spot is clean, spacious, and perfectly situated in walking distance downtown. Would love to come back for brunch with a group of friends, or even again during the upcoming Lafayette Art & Wine Fest. Food is good, service is quick and friendly, and vibes are right. Metered parking located across the street.

There's plentiful inside seating and a comfortable shaded outdoor patio. There is a full bar that some folks were sitting at. We opted for the outside patio since we had our kids with us and they can be loud. Our server was kind and accommodating. She checked in often, but not in an invasive way. Everything here is farm to table, and tasted fresh. The oysters were delicious and so were the mussels which came with a delightful coconut broth and grilled bread. The kids enjoyed a fried chicken slider with fries. My favorite was the beet salad with goat cheese. It was so flavorful and perfectly cooked. This is definitely a spot to try with or without your kiddos. I would come back for dinner with the hubby.

It was near closing time when we got there, but we didn't feel rushed to order or eat our dinner so that they could clean up and close the restaurant and head on home. We started with an appetizer and garlic bread (see picture). We had about six pieces of bread and as you can see in the picture, it was on the burnt side. I cannot believe that for the price you pay for a bread, they would serve this. I also ordered a black coffee, but it tasted like it had been sitting there since the morning and tasted really nasty. I asked to have a hot tea instead. Food was good. We ordered spaghetti, carbonara, some chicken dish, and a grilled salmon. All the food tasted delicious and we cleaned out the carbonara and spaghetti. After we ate our dinner, they gave my son-in-law a slice of tiramisu with a lighted candle. Overall, it was a pleasant evening and we enjoyed our food (except for the garlic bread). I'd like to see them do me good and give me a nice garlic bread the next time I eat here.

Since we were there so early we were able to get seated right away without reservations. Walking in my first impression is this restaurant is beautiful! It's professionally decorated/designed. We ordered the ube latte, matcha latte, marnier French toast, coconut moffle, and millionaires bacon. Service was great! Everything came out very quickly! The ube latte actually had a very strong ube taste and not just the brilliant purple color. And you could tell it was freshly prepared since it was still a tiny bit warm despite being an iced drink. The matcha came with cute latte art and was filled to the brim. The matcha was a good strength without crossing into overly earthy. The French toast had a very smoky flavor that reminded me of the smoke when a birthday candle is blown out. I don't know how they did that. It was a very unique flavor. The moffle was a very balanced and tasty dish. The Brie went well with the raspberries. The waffle had a nice chewy texture from the mochi. I didn't get a lot of coconut flavor but I still enjoyed it a lot! The millionaires bacon hit all the right notes for me. You have the saltiness, a kick of spiciness, some sweetness, etc. The only negative for me was the front door/entrance should stay closed more. There were some flies that distracted from the lovely experience. But that may not be completely possible given how popular they are there are probably a lot of people coming in and out at any given time. We left stuffed but without leftovers. It is a little pricier for breakfast. I think after tip it was around $100. So it was $50 per person. This is one of the best brunches I've had in a long time! I can't wait to come back and try their other items.

Wood Tavern met the criteria for a relatively nice American restaurant in North Oakland. We visited for lunch and wanted to make this special for our mom, so we were perhaps a bit overdressed in business casual, but this is Oakland after all. On an ordinary Thursday, there were multiple groups waiting outside for the restaurant to open at 11:30 AM. That in itself should tell you how popular this place is. My wife and I dined at sister restaurant Southie next door a few years ago and really enjoyed it (I also rated it five stars on Yelp), so I was confident Wood Tavern would not disappoint. I initially booked our reservation using OpenTable to link it to my account and get 100 points. Since the max party size for Wood Tavern on OpenTable is four, I had to call to get it changed to eight. Due to the large party size, the restaurant also required me to give them my credit card info and be subject to a $25 per person no-show fee. Upon arrival, our tables were ready for us in the back corner near the open kitchen. The restaurant is true to its name with a shared bar and dining room space that evoke the feel of a wood tavern. Here's what we had: Wine of the Day * Rosé (100% Zweigelt), Stefan Pratsch, Niederösterreich, Austria, 2024 ($16) "N/A Libations" and other drinks * Cherry Bomb! non-alcoholic cocktail ($13) - Tilden Lacewing, Amarena cherry, lime, ginger beer, tall glass * Shirley Temple ($5) * Diet Coke ($5) * Iced Tea ($4) Soup & Salad * Red & Golden Beet Salad x2 ($16 each, one with fish added for $8) - frisee, castelfranco, pistachios, orange segments, Laura Chenel goat cheese, Cara Cara orange vinaigrette Sandwiches * The Hot Pastrami x2 ($25 each) - Emmentaler cheese, Dijon-horseradish dressing, La Farine baguette Old Reliables * Seafood Stew ($32) - rock cod, Manila clams, PEI mussels, calamari, butter beans, fennel, leeks, chili flakes, garlic toast * Pork Ragu Casarecce ($30) - Castelvetrano olives, Pecorino Romano, Grana Padano, chili flakes, parsley * Tavern Burger with French Fries on Acme Soft Bun with All the Fixins x3 ($25 each, two with cheddar added for $2 each) Everything was excellent. As for what to order, I recommend all of the dishes we got. It really just depends on what you like and/or what you're in the mood for. Everyone loved the food. The beet salad was fresh and flavorful, the pastrami was one of the best I've had anywhere, my mom raved about the seafood stew, my brother-in-law gobbled up all of the casarecce, and the burger was outstanding. Service was polite and speedy. Our server Sophia C was awesome. We split one of the salads and the stew, so they came out plated and served in half portions which was nice of the kitchen staff to do.
