Metro and Owner Jack have a fantastic restaurant in town that is always reliable for taste and ambiance. If you're in the mood for a great burger then this is your place, by far the best and juiciest in town. If you're looking for something a little lighter, the salads paired with an appetizer like the poke is a great choice. The entrees change every so often but there is no bad food here and something for most everyone. It does get a little loud when it's busy but there is a tented and non tented outside which is nice (temperature permitting). You can't go wrong here and if Jack is in he will make sure you're taken care of. read more

But the wait time was something VERY disappointing (40-45 minutes for food and another 30 for desserts!) Onto the food, the beef hash was pretty good, however the beef itself lacked flavor 5/10. The Lemon Cake was very sweet (the cake part of it) It was very delicious! 9/10. Went with my family and friends (around 10-12 of us) Most of them weren't very pleased with what they ordered. Also they got our sorbet order wrong. Overall the place is a 4/10. Metro is a tough one. We've dined here a few times and there are dishes I like and others that miss the mark a little. Prices are generally up there either way. Granted, it's a large and attractive restaurant with generous outdoor patio space that makes it a great option in good weather. I just wish I looked forward to the food more. On this latest visit, I had their Early Girl tomato soup and a Gulf Shrimp salad. The tomato soup claimed to be basil-infused, but I couldn't taste any. Instead, the roasted tomato actually tasted slightly acrid. The salad was better, but not exceptional. I did enjoy a very good and reasonably priced glass of Syrah. My partner meanwhile had the rib appetizer which fell off the bones, but his fried chicken sandwich needed more acid. It was dressed with some apple which didn't enhance the sandwich well. All in all, we'll probably be back again, but there are other restaurants I prefer in Lafayette. read more

We went to Metro for their Easter brunch. Reviews are mixed. The staff is very friendly and the service was very good. The patio is lovely and a pleasant atmosphere for brunch or lunch. My mother had the eggs benedict which looked good. She also enjoyed the butterscotch pot de creme with salted caramel for dessert. I was not so lucky. First of all the mango nectar which was offered on the menu, was diluted with sparkling water and served in a small glass. I had the avocado toast which was disappointing. There was no egg (menu didn't say there would be but usually it comes with a poached egg). The avocado seemed to be a commercially prepared guacamole, kind of like Wholly Guacamole, not homemade at all. There were 2 very thin pieces of smoked salmon on the toast. I did not care for the lemon custard cake dessert; nothing special to me. Overall disappointing for $50 per person. read more

Metro is great because it offers different things for different people - there is an all stocked bar with lots is whiskey options; there is indoor dining for big groups, party dining, and outside dining with heat lamps. I have tried almost all their dishes and none have disappointed in the least bit - my favorite is the gnocchi, highly recommend. Jack, the owner, is a pillar in the community and has a long history of supporting businesses in Lafayette. We sat outdoors on their lovely patio. It is quite Bug, but still feels intimate. Everything we ordered, including cocktails was great. We share a device appetizer swelling as a seared scallop appetizer served over truffle buttered pasta. Then we shared the Croque Madame entrée which was served with fries and a lightly dressed salad. We stopped by here impromptu, on our way to Lafayette Reservoir a few days ago. I would say that the service was excellent. Our server was efficient and very attentive, but not overbearing. The food was good, but seemed a little bit pricey given the size of the portions. I had the scallop pasta, which was very tasty. We also had the mushroom flatbread, which was delicious but a little bit small for the price as well. It was raining outside and they could not get the patio heaters to turn on, so they were very accommodating and allowed us to sit inside with our dog in a carrier. Cocktail list seems right out of the 90s, would love something a little more updated. We sampled a few and they just were not good. Too sweet, unpleasant to drink, and not well crafted for the price. I had the fried chicken sandwich and it was good quality, well cooked, but quite bland. The french fries were amazing and they come in a generous portion with the sandwich. We also sampled the short ribs (or maybe pot roast) and one of the salads, both good. Happy Hour Power! Stopped here for happy hour and dinner last year, and I must say that overall I was pretty impressed. The happy hour was fun, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was comfortable and inviting. Many would probably say that there isn't too much going on in Lafayette. I can't say that I disagree, but I've also learned that there are some really nice little gems in this town. Metro Lafayette is definitely one of them. While on the way home from work one evening, I decided to stop by for happy hour to let the traffic die down. First of all, this place is so inviting! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the staff. The bar and patio area are really attractive. And of course; the happy hour! From 3:00 - 6:00 and 9:00-close you can take advantage of some yummy discounted apps, drinks, wine, and beer. They've got a nice selection of wines here, and being the wino that I am, I had to take advantage. My bartender Drew was absolutely amazing though! Just watching him whip up those cocktails was enough to keep me entertained for the entire night. The crowd seems to be mostly local, but damn are people friendly here. Can you believe I shut this place down?! Stayed until damn near closing time, and that's not very common for me. But the atmosphere was so damn fun here! Dinner was pretty good, but not the best that I've had. I went with their pork loin schnitzel with fingerling potatoes and braised red cabbage. The pork loin was actually very tender and I love the crispiness of the skin, but I wasn't a huge fan of the whole grain mustard sauce that they put on top. The mustard just felt a bit too potent to be on the pork loin. The fingerling potatoes were decent but the braised red cabbage was rather bland. I did enjoy their happy hour oysters and shrimp cocktail, but those are pretty hard to mess up. I feel like maybe I just chose the wrong dish. Despite the mediocre dinner, I really did enjoy myself here. The service and the atmosphere are what really stood out to me the most. I would definitely be down to come back for dinner again to try a different entrée in the future, but for sure will be coming back for happy hour once this Coronavirus has subsided. read more

Let's get the facts straight, I didn't order a burger, I ordered pork schnitzel. I was hoping for an apology from you. But, instead you decided to castigate me in the public forum. Finally, your assertions could not be further from the truth. If this is how you decide to defuse a unsatisfied customer by becoming argumentative, I feel at peace with my accurate description of your management. For the record, there were patrons who arrived after my wife and I ordered our entrees and completed their meals before we ever received any real service. Apparently there must a shortage of salt and pepper shakers at Metro because we had to ask twice for them as well as for a table lamp. I could go on and on. But I hope you get the picture. We have been here multiple times. They totally ruined my birthday dinner. We had a reservation for 630 and didn't get our food until after 830. We had our appetizers and drinks and waited and waited. The waiter stayed away and the manager never came by. I finally searched him out and complained and was told we would have our food in about 3 minutes. Well 30 minutes later, nothing! Not, explain what was going on, not see if we needed anything, nothing. One person ordered a second beer and waited and waited, only to be told they are changing the barrel!!!!!! The food used to be excellent, but even that has gone to hell. The menu changed and it was hard to get good appetizers. The food selection was not as good as it used to be and two people ordered chicken with red cabbage and got poorly prepared white cabbage and tough chicken. Located in the same shopping center as whole foods. It's on its own closer to the street. Parking was easy. The building is older on the outside but inside is updated. The outdoor patio dining area in the back was good sized and socially distanced. Plenty of room. I had the burger and fries. Asked for medium well and it came out more medium rare. Our 1st server was a little abrupt but we also had a 2nd person help us with taking some pictures of our group and he was very friendly and helpful so it really depends on who you get. While I believe it is extremely expensive it was an anniversary celebration and it was in Lafayette which always equals expensive! They also have a variety of vegetarian dishes which is awesome! I wore an anti-Trump shirt to Metro and the owner instructed the poor waitstaff not to serve me. I talked to the owner and he insisted that he was anti-Trump too (which I didn't believe). I noted that my friend and I were sitting outside not bothering anyone and there was no one offended by my shirt except for him. I have been coming here for over a decade, and I have been arguably one of his best customers. I gave the owner ample time to reconsider his decision, but all he could do is offer me a staff shirt, "or I would not be served." We left. Never to return. I suggest that any American who cares about the freedom, democracy, or decency should never come to Metro again. Update: We went to Social Bird down the street. Thanks to the owner's Trumpiness, we discovered a place that is better and they didn't comment on my shirt. read more

I met friends for lunch at Metro in Lafayette. They had been there many times, and it was my first visit. It won't be my last!! They had reservations, and the host had saved a special corner booth for us, which was comfortable and the right size for the three of us. The menu was great, and it was difficult to decide which of the numerous items to get. I ended up getting the fried chicken sandwich, and it was perfectly prepared and totally delicious! My friends recommended the white Burgundy wine, and it was one of the best whites I've had. Gotta buy some of it! The ambiance is lovely, and I look forward to my next visit!! read more

We really enjoyed our dinner experience here. Service was exceptional. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. We arrived and we're promptly seated at our reservation time. I hosted a fantastic baby shower at Metro Lafayette. I worked with Erika to plan the event. She was communicative, professional and knowledgeable. I was able customize a prix fixe brunch menu and even order table linens directly through the restaurant. The staff was so accommodating on the day of for setup to help bring my vision to life. Jack needs to figure out if his racist name calling situation is going to define him and his business. It's already been a few days and the silence is deafening. I would not recommend you go here. Not because their food isn't good. It actually is good (what of it I tried). The problem lies with service. Eating here was one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had, and that says a lot, as we eat out very frequently and at a variety of types of places. The moment we arrived, we could tell that the waiter wasn't just unhappy to wait on us, it seemed like he downright disliked us. Which really made me uncomfortable. But what can you say? I didn't want to make trouble, so I just tried to remain cordial. He was snappy, rude, angry and unhappy the entire time and it seemed to get just worse and worse. Like I almost felt guilty ordering food? It was weird. Things were forgotten (which I mean, this happens when you don't write anything down, why doesn't he have a notepad?). Anyway things are forgotten, and it's blamed on the customer, and things just get even more unpleasant. Like of course we ordered it, we wanted a full dinner, why would we lie about that? I did see another table complain their dessert was forgotten as well, and I am not sure how that was remedied, but they had a different wait person anyway. There was not enough help at the bar area either, and it seems like maybe they need to hire more people, and more competent and pleasant people.
