I called Metro Mutts in desperation last month. My little Maltese's hair was matted to his skin and he was suffering from a skin allergy. I normally take him to IVS University Park for grooming because he went suddenly blind a year ago and I was concerned about his safety and well being. They don't have grooming services at present (due to COVID) but told me a client had recommended Metro Mutts. I called and spoke to Luis. This man is truly a "Dog Whisperer!" I could tell he was compassionate when I spoke to him on the phone. He doesn't usually travel to Orange but made an exception for me. I've never used a mobile grooming service and was worried... but not for long! This man was knowledgeable, kind, and gentle! My little blind dog actually started to fall asleep as this man shaved him from head to toe! I recommend him most highly and am so very grateful to him! Luis has been grooming my dog for a couple of years now, the only thing I can say is that he's the best groomer in Orange County

Our dog Nala was just groomed by Luis and he is fantastic! I usually take her to a groomer (she is a 85 pound dog) and she does not want to go in so I have to drag her. When Luis showed up today she was happy to see him and hopped right into his van like she had known him forever. He took his time with her and she looks so beautiful. Luis was very gentle with our 10 years old miniature poodle with severe arthritis on all the joints. He arrived a little bit earlier in order for us to fill out the forms. He then proceeded to groom our dog in the 90 degrees weather accompanied by rare SoCal humidity. Our dog is known to be easily scared but Luis patiently worked with him for over an hour. We already made next month's appointment immediately after this appointment. I highly recommend Luis! read more

Luis is absolutely incredible! Lets just say my dog Rocko is not the friendliest towards groomers but Luis has a way with animals that is like nothing I have seen before. He always shows up early with a smile on his face and a positive attitude! I can't say enough good things about his services! There is no one I trust more to give Rocko a nice fresh cut. After he is done clipping Rocko, he puts a bandana on him and sprays him up so he looks good and smells great. I was even asked by someone when he was on a walk "how old is your puppy?" I laughed and told her my pup is 11! Rocko looks looks so good because of the food I give him and his groomer Luis! It made me a bit sad to write this review because Luis is a very nice guy and we have been using him for the past couple of months. We were very happy to find him on Yelp and love the cut and the services for the first couple of times, but we also started to notice the quality started to go down. But unfortunately after what happened today I don't think we will be using his service ever again... We scheduled to have a much needed bath (ONLY) for our Poodle mix. We were surprised too see a very shaved dog after an hour. He explained to my husband because our dog was too matted so he needed to shave it all off. OK, fine, if it's better for the dog then we would have the haircut too, but I really would appreciate it if we were being asked first! My husband and I were in the house THE WHOLE TIME and not once were we being informed about the matted hair until AFTER it was done. I was not happy but I believe maybe my dog would feel better without all these matted hair, so I let it go and still tipped him. What really was the last straw was when I gave treats to my dog later that day, I notice there was blood stain at the tip of his ear. When I took a closer look, the tip of the ear was clipped and there was some dry blood!! I was so angry because I knew it must have been from shaving too much! My dog was a very good temper rescued dog and I could not imagine how scared he was, or if he was in pain when his ear got clipped. Of course, we were not informed about the accident, it was just not professional. We will taking our dog somewhere else now.. read more

I had called Luis but was having a hard time finding when I was available to get my 2 dogs groomed. Luis was very understanding and ended up. Coming to my house on the 4th of July. This was great for me. One of my dogs a Yorkie is not friendly when being groomed and petsmart will no longer allow him there because he tries to bite them. I think it is because they hire people that really don't want to be there and don't love animals. Luis made friends with my dogs before starting and was talking to them through the process. He kept the 2 dogs together, which was nice. The Yorkie was fine with Luis and didn't seem stressed out. These are the best haircuts my dogs have ever had. I will never go back to a commercial place like petsmart again. I fully recommend Metro Muts. We will be using them from now on. read more

Luis is really the BEST!! I have really high expectations when it comes to my pets, and he went over and beyond and exceeded every one of them. We just had our first visit with metro mutts and are so happy with the results. Our wheaten terrier can be very hyper and really dislikes being groomed but for the first time ever, she actually seems like she enjoyed it! Luis is very sweet and gentle and my pup loved him. Not only did he make the experience positive for her but he did an awesome job grooming her and had the same exact price as I've paid at Petsmart! Luis is very kind to dogs, but he is terrible value. I had my dog groomed by him last week. I told him twice that the day he proposed wouldn't work because I had several appointments, but he kept pressing and said he would work with my schedule. He came one hour late, with apologies. The night before, I had spent the entire Superbowl brushing out my Standard Poodle, but the first thing Luis did was take his comb and very demonstratively show me how it didn't pull easily through her coat, claiming she was full of mats and needed to be cut back to 1/16" all over. A fine comb will never go through the coat of a Standard! He said he could work on her but it would take a super long time, maybe even two separate days, and cost a ton. I asked how much and he was cagey. I said maybe he wasn't a good fit for us, and he immediately said he would take her in the van for 5 minutes and let me know. A few minutes later he texted that he would wash her, give her a full deep brushout, and cut her hair for $150, which is more than twice what I normally pay. (Shoutout to Ruff Haus Costa Mesa there.) I said yes, because I felt bad that he had already come to my house and spent time. Just 55 minutes later, while I was still finishing up my appointment, he texted he was done. I hurried home in 5 minutes, and he said "Good News, I only have to charge you $10 more than what I quoted." I Venmo'd him $160 and, being a sucker, a $10 tip. He said being so nice to me meant he was having to make his next customer wait. When he left, I looked at my dog. She was still damp. The haircut was easily the worst she has ever had--even my undiscriminating husband said, "She looks awful." There were tufts sticking out all over, and her head was pointed like those hats the old band Devo used to wear. The kicker: I got out my grooming comb and tried to put it through her coat. Luis has been grooming my dogs for 6 years since my elderly mother went into an assisted living home (in Texas) and i took her dogs home with me. Bailey, a medium sized poodle mix , had a terrible reputation with groomers and vets. I dreaded the experience of having him groomed. I was referred to Metro Mutts by a veterinarian friend of mine. The 1st time Luis groomed Bailey, Bailey was still not adjusted to his new life, and was fearful and bit when approached. Luis arrived and I explained the risk of being bitten. Luis talked to Bailey quietly, carried him, took his time to groom him, and when he carried Bailey back to the house, that naughty dog had his head on Luis´s shoulder! Luis is the dog whisperer to my dogs! Luis bathes them, shaves them, trims nails and does their anal glands. And all in a timely manner. I´ve overheard him talking to my dogs, singing to them while he grooms them. He accommodates my work schedule. He is friendly, kind, and humble. He has a love for dogs rarely seen. Luis is fantastic! He's got a very gentle manner with the dogs which makes our schnauzers a bit less savage during the grooming process. We have one dog with an eye issue and Luis is very careful to work around the eye. He's also a dab hand at a schnauzer cut. We've tried other local groomers but hated leaving the dogs in cages at grooming salons for lengthy periods which always seemed to happen. Much better having them out front with Luis. read more

Luis has been grooming my older Shih-Tzu Yoda for almost two years. He's always been reliable, trustworthy and excellent at grooming Yoda. I came across Luis van in Irvine and have never considered changing to another groomer, until we planned our families move from North Irvine to Corona del Mar "Flower Streets". I was certain Luis may not come to an inconvenient location to groom my sweet Yoda. He has to deal with beach traffic in the summer, park in back alley to connect via outlet in garage and walk up steps to pickup & drop off yoda. But guess what? He said, for Yoda I will drive to Corona del Mar! I love Yoda! I told him thank you thank you! and I'll be sure to refer you to my neighbors.
