I brought in this BORROWED $2k dress for water stains on the bottom after wearing it to a wedding. I made sure to inspect the whole dress before giving it to them and with the guy at the front upon arrival. When I went to pick it had an obvious stain front and center of the dress. When I brought it up to them they not only said there's NOTHING they can do about the stain ... they also did not offer a refund THEN proceeded to BLAME ME for the stain. I obviously won't be returning but do not risk your clothing coming here especially when they are so unhelpful when something happens. read more

I brought in two vintage skirts to be tailored. I've used them many times before and have always had excellent service. When I picked up the skirts, the alterations weren't exactly what I expected--elastic waistbands on vintage pieces can be tricky, and the result didn't quite match the original look. When I spoke with the owner, he handled the situation with genuine care and professionalism. He listened, was proactive about trying to fix the issue, and clearly wanted to make things right. While the final result still wasn't exactly what I had envisioned, he provided a full refund for the tailoring and was very thoughtful and apologetic. I'm a fan of family owned business and have been using Metropolitan Cleaners for years. Even during the pandemic I made sure to keep bringing my business to them. Recently I brought a leather jacket to be cleaned. When I got it back, it was ruined. They offered to try to fix it and when I returned again, they confirmed it was ruined. They showed me some fuzzy pictures to show me it was ruined when I dropped it off (not the case, it was not ruined). Best part of the story, they told me that they took pictures in advance because they knew it would get ruined in the cleaning process and wanted me to see. So I asked if they knew the cleaning would ruin it, why didn't they tell me and not clean it. They said that was a good idea and should have done it. So they offered to refund the cost of what I paid to clean it (via store credits). Anyway, they are good overall but beware of leather cleaning and false promises. read more

I was in the market for a new dry cleaner and after a lot of research I decided to try metropolitan cleaner. The staff I spoke with were incredibly kind. I brought in a duvet cover to be washed for the first time, and this was back in July. Fast forward to last night (October 25) I finally remove my duvet from the wrapping/hanger and I notice this giant, unsightly stain on my white comforter. It almost looks like someone set a coffee pot on my duvet cover. I was extremely disappointed and upset. Unfortunately they destroyed my favorite hat. I brought it here to be cleaned and it came back disfigured. The brim which was flat became completely ridged with large lines in it. I brought it back, they tried again- it looks a little better but still ruined. It was an expensive hat that I loved so I was bummed about this. I also took a shirt here to be cleaned and to have a button repaired. I finally went to wear it and they never bothered to repair the button, but charged for it. I wouldn't return here and don't recommend bringing hats here. I wish they would have been honest upfront that it wasn't their forte instead of ruining the hat. Oh well. It is only a material possession but I still wanted to communicate this. read more

The turn-around time for the cleaning is reasonable, and my clothes always smell fresh and are wrinkle free when I receive them. The parking is great. They usually have some spots metered spots near the side but also have parking in front. I was pretty unimpressed at first. I dropped off a dress here that had makeup on it. They gave it back to me with makeup still on it. I pointed it out, the guy took it to the back for a minute and brought it out perfect. I came here for a couple more things. They were honest about how long it would take to clean a certain item, which I appreciated. (I was hoping to get it back by the next day. But due to the severity of the problem it would take longer...) Also, I had them clean some spots on a top and when I picked it up I was told they couldn't take out the spots (they were burned or something. The material had faded away and the backing that was showing were the spots I was seeing.) I was still charged for the cleaning even though i wasn't asked if I still wanted to clean it if they couldn't fix the spots. Needless to say the shirt is trash. They did a great job on my other things. So, very hit or miss. read more

When I began to pay attention, I found overcharges for things not part of my order-pillow shams which are more expensive than pillow cases, charges for credit cards instead of cash which they do not disclose before hand, charges for dry cleaning which was clearly not done, but the person there insisted it was when the item was still dirty, shoddy repairs and alterations, and iron scorch marks on sheets- I really want to support neighborhood businesses but I would never go there again. read more

Got home and began folding my shirts for travel to find that all 3 had stains still very clearly visible...armpits, food.. If I needed my shirts ironed I would've dropped them off at my mom's house.. I love this place! It's the best place on the Westside to have your clothing dry cleaned or tailored. First of all, the service is top notch. I was helped by Benny both times and he is so friendly and helpful in every way possible. I honestly think he's the nicest person I've ever met at a dry cleaners or tailor shop. I came here to have an evening gown I bought for a wedding tailored and I was floored by the final product. It was perfectly even all the way around. I came in on my lunch break and tried on the dress with the heels I was wearing for the wedding. Benny helped me figure out how long I wanted it to be and took the time to measure it perfectly. Even when I wanted to have too much of the dress taken off he gave me his honest advice and I trusted him. I dropped my dress off on a Monday that I needed ready by Saturday. I was shocked when the dress was already done by Wednesday in time for the wedding. They even told me that if I didn't like the length when I came in on Wednesday that they would fix it and have it ready by Friday. Little did I know there was no need for that. I came in on Wednesday to see the final product and I was floored. I couldn't stop staring at the dress in the mirror. It was hemmed exactly how I imagined it. It was long enough to have a classy ball gown look and left enough room for me to dance and walk around in it. I was so happy. The best thing about this place is how reasonable the pricing is. I was able to have an amazing dress to wear for a wedding without having it cost an arm and a leg. I am honestly recommending this place to all of my friends in the area. We are going through a house remodel with a 9 month old baby and had an anticipated week that we would be living without a washer/dryer so we rationed our clothing as such. One week turned into 10 days and then we were told at 3pm on day 10 that in fact it would be another week until they'd be installed. I briefly considered hand washing a weeks's worth of clothes for 3 people or trying to entertain the baby at a laundromat for a couple of hours but landed on seeking out a wash and fold place with FAST turnaround. Metropolitan was the 3rd company I called and the only one that could offer faster than 24 hour turnaround time. Sold! I was desperate - my son was down to his last onesie and my husband needed work clothes for the next day. I dropped 2 loads of laundry off around 4pm and they said it could be picked up 7am next day. Everyone working there was very nice, the clothes got cleaned and I could stop panicking. I didn't ask what the rush charge was when dropping off so I almost choked when at pick up when I found out 2 loads cost $60. In hind sight I probably could have purchased a pack of onesies for the kid, undies for the adults, and a brand new bath towel at target for less to get us through the week. But like I said, I was desperate, they were there for me in my time of need and did exactly what I asked of them. Great service. read more

This is by far the worst experience I have ever had taking in a duvet for a stain and press. First of all, I took in a brand new duvet to get cleaned b/c of a fresh stain trusting it will be in good hands. Leave for about 4 days and come back to a huge hole and several other small holes surrounding it. After several attempts to get my money back I was told to come back and speak to the Manager/owner. Not only was he misogynistic and extremely rude, he then became increasingly incomprehensible every time he tried to defend himself whenever I would bring up an explanation about the holes. The more I brought up compensation for the holes, the louder and angrier he became. As a woman I am deeply disturbed by this mans unprofessional and neurotic behavior. As he knows, his company is responsible for any damages to personal property that wasn't currently damaged. I think that's what upset him the most. That or the mere fact that I would not stand down to full grown man yelling at me. After 15 min of talking down to me and defending himself, he then agreed to pay not even half of what the duvet was worth. Not worth the headache coming back. Would still not own up to the holes ! If there is any response to this review ( which I doubt bc this is an unprofessional company) just know it's to cover up or lie about what actually went down. DO NOT COME HERE.
