YUM!! This place is so good! We've been for breakfast but we came for lunch this time and the food was A1. The menu is huge but I don't think you can go wrong here. They have all day breakfast so even though it was lunch I got an iced cafe de olla which was fantastic. My bf got a strawberry lemonade which was also good. I got care asada nachos (big nacho lover) and they were super tasty!! But my bf got an al pastor burrito and that al pastor was some of the best we've had. I would 100% get al pastor next time! Overall the service is great, good food reasonably priced, and they have everything you'd want! read more

Wonderful Fresh-cooked Mexican Street Cafe appropriately named, with its small size and attractive atmosphere, fresh aromas and friendly and efficient staff making you feel as though you're right at home in Mama's kitchen. I especially love how accommodating they are and will attempt to prepare the food just the way you want it. The tempting selections on the dessert menu make it impossible to choose, so that sometimes when I go for lunch, I end up ordering a fruity dessert to devour right away, and taking my main dish home for later. Oh!! And Not To Forget my Favorite. A steaming cup of Cafe de Olla I don't know if I spelled it right ?? But it sure tastes right when I swallow it down Due to the size, the inside has few tables but there are few sheltered tables on the outside right. Some new tables seem to be added on the street front which can be quite nice when weather and street noise accommodate. read more

This is by far my favorite breakfast spot in the valley. My husband loves their cafe de olla and the breakfast skillets. I always order their chilaquiles, I've tried all the sauces and have not been disappointed. I've also been here for dinner and the food was just as good as the breakfast options. There's indoor/outdoor seating and when it's cold outside, the tables near the parking lot have heaters overhead. The service is usually quick and efficient and they're always polite. Lastly, if you're not a hot coffee drinker, I highly recommend the strawberry horchata and the iced horchata cafe both are amazing! read more

This spot was recommended to me by a friend a couple years back. I've been here a handful of times and it has always been a great experience. The food is always great and they accommodate to almost any changes you'd like. Also the drinks are so well thought out and taste amazing. I always bring people here who are visiting. read more

Service was bad and the host was so rude. Waited over an hour because they forgot about us on the list, they claimed they "called us" didn't apologize or accommodate us and they took forever to take our order. Didn't check up on us either. I get it's busy but you should atleast show that you care. read more

Fast service and great staff. We came here because another spot was way too busy but we are so happy we chose to leave. Food was made to order and fast. I had chilaquiles rojos and my bf had the omelette and he loved his food and mine. Also the price was excellent. Cafe de olla iced and hot. We sat outside but the vibes were still there. I will say there were a lot of customers who sat at tables for about an hour after paying and chatting while there was still lots of people waiting for a table. So be considerate of the people and the staff they can't make tips or seat people to eat if ur taking up space way after you finish paying. read more

The food here was actually BOOOMMMBBB!!! I cant believe i haven't seen or heard of this place before. Got the red sauce chilaquiles with carne Asada and the breakfast fajita with chicken. Both the chicken and steak were cooked perfectly! The flavors were all there! Everything was delish! The service was also super nice! We don't speak Spanish and the waiters did not get frustrated with us, they were super helpful! It does get crowded but the line moves fast!! It was worth the wait! read more

Okay! So I had no idea this restaurant even existed regardless of how frequently I am in this area of Burbank so when I met up with some old co-workers of mine for a catch-up lunch, I was excited to check out my favorite Mexican dish - quesadillas! Is that actually Mexican or just gringo? Don't know, don't care! Cheese and tortillas are just so awesome. It was POURING rain and we had to wait outside which seems like it would be a problem, but not really, actually. They were pretty quick to seat us in their tiny interior which I was SO thankful for. We sat across from the kitchen so I kept seeing all these amazing dishes being carried out of the kitchen. Everything looked so good and the portions were huge! After we all figured out our choices (though I already knew what I wanted long before arriving) we eagerly awaited our food while talking and having a great time. Our food came and my quesadilla was exactly what I wanted it to be! It was huge! The tortilla was just slightly crispy with cheese oozing out of it from every angle and it was Mexican cheese not any cheddar or mozzarella here. It was salty and delicious and everything you want a quesadilla to be. I added the guacamole and sour cream to this as well and dipped it in the homemade salsa which did nothing but make it an even better experience! So good! I can't wait to come back here. Maybe for breakfast. They had these pancakes coming out of the kitchen that looked so fluffy and golden brown, I just have to try them! read more

It was my first time coming here. My husband had been here once before. The service was wonderful. Everyone seems very sweet that works there. Food service was quick. We didn't have to wait long which was nice since my husband had to get back home for meetings. I got the chorizo and eggs. The plate comes with rice, beans, and corn tortillas. My husband got the huevos rancheros which also come with rice, beans, and he got flour tortillas. Beans were good. They were retried beans. Rice was white rice with vegetables. Also good. I personally prefer red rice. I started eating my food. It's not the first time I have had chorizo and eggs. I actually make it at home from time to time. I did taste them off. I did keep eating but didn't finish. My husband thought his dish was good. He does recall the previous time he went, that it was better. I typically eat a small breakfast and one meal with snacks. This was my one meal and I had a stomach ache later that day. My husband was feeling weird the next day. We aren't sure if it was the food but it was the only thing we ate. Being that husband recalls it being better the first time and workers being nice, I would give this place another shot and see how it goes. read more

Visited for the first time and will return. I had hard shell tacos, one carnita and one chicken. They were enormous and delicious. The rice was so different with peas, corn and even lima beans. My mate went for the shrimp fajitas which he thoroughly enjoyed. Again, a generous portion. Service was friendly and good and breakfast is available all day. No wonder this small and unassuming restaurant has a huge and fervent fan base. read more

For some reason, I was looking for something to criticize. Maybe I was just in a bad mood. But this place did just fine. I went here for lunch, but the breakfast menu looked better. This is one of the few places I've been that they don't bring chips and salsa for free to the table. Maybe that's what put me in a bad mood. The fajitas were just ok. Under seasoned and not much flavor. The rice was good, but the beans were flat. But oh my God, that strawberry horchata! I was hesitant to get it because I don't care for cinnamon. Here, it was subtle and just look at that fresh fruit. Service was terrific. I dropped my knife and a guy literally passed by in that moment and picked it up. Good place. I'll try something different next time. read more

Believe all of the five star reviews as they are spot on. We went early on a Sunday am and wait line was not to bad. Ample street parking and they have seating in a makeshift wait area, one of the perks of the other businesses closed on Sundays. There is a real comforting family vibe (Jorge the host wore multiple hats with a smile, was welcoming and def one of the stars of this show along with the rest of the staff). Started of with the Cafe de Olla it was perfect with nothing needed to be added. They serve some of the standard breakfast staples (French toast was the biz!) but you come here for some authentic Mexican plates and they do not disappoint. Put Mex Cocina Cafe on your gotta try list, you won't regret it. read more

My girlfriend who lives in Burbank suggested MexCocina Cafe for our breakfast. I hadn't been before so was eager to try. We arrived at 10:00 and it was busy. The service was friendly and quick. I ordered the Eggs Benedict which were prepared differently with the addition of tomato and grilled red onion. The key to a good Eggs Benedict is the Hollandaise and how well the egg is cooked. Here you have a choice of egg preparation. I chose poached, which was cooked perfectly and the Hollandaise sauce was excellent. My friends ordered the chilaquiles with red sauce which came with your choice of egg, rice and beans and the chile relleno burrito and was able to sub beans for potatoes. My friend who recommended this place ordered Cafe de Olla, which was delicious! I'd order that the next time I come. The menu is so vast as they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner all day!! read more

Great coffee, cozy interior, and amazing customer service. We came on a Sunday morning and even though it was busy, every single server you saw here was taking their time with each guest. The food was tasty and I loved that our mugs of coffee were never empty. Their horchata is a must have! The only downside might be the parking situation, it's either street parking or a tiny parking lot to the side of the restaurant. read more

As a Mexican I never go eat at Mexican restaurants because I can cook it at home. I'll make an exception if it's very high quality Mexican food. My boyfriend and I walked inside on a whim as we were feeling peckish. The place was busy with very loud music. I asked the server to turn it down and we started off with chips, salsa and guacamole as well as a Jamaica juice. Chips were crunchy, salsa was very very picante and the guacamole had no flavor. It needed lime juice and salt and waaay more tomatoes. Despite this we ate it all, next we got sweet potatoe fries, a huge Swiss style burrito with shrimp, chicken and steak. It was delicious! It had a very creamy sauce, gooey cheese and delicious rice. All the meats were juicy and flavorful. The fries were cooked perfectly, a bit salty but very sweet and that ranch sauce was decadent. We shared as it was a huuuuge portion. So glad because we got full and had to take the last chunk home. I left satisfied and happy because my boyfriend is very picky and he enjoyed it as well. This place was amazing! I'm very picky about my chilaquiles but these are probably some of the best chilaquiles I have ever had, and I tried my husband caldo de res which was good and had great flavor and the meat was very tender. The only thing that would have made his caldo even better was if the tortillas were handmade. The cafe de la olla is delicious, I got the iced hazel cafe de la olla and my husband got the regular hot cafe, 10/10 would recommend both. The service was great and the staff were very nice! And the cafe is a little cozy on the inside but has a good amount of outdoor seating. Whenever we are in town we will be definitely making a stop here! read more

As for ALL of the items at Lou's "Oh, aimé-je" it does NOT get any better. The croissants are hands down the best in America. The sandwiches (all of them): finger-licking good. The éclairs are the most delectable in town, as are the other pastries. And with ALL of that, somehow the best thing is still the customer service. I have yet to walk in there without seeing Lou personally chatting it up with customers, the man is everywhere. On sunny and rainy days he's passing out umbrellas, and on Mother's Day he's handing out wonderful gifts for all the ladies. The staff take their lead from him and are every bit as splendid. If you haven't tried it yet, it's not too late -- run, don't walk, this weekend. Your taste buds will file a formal complaint if you don't.

I've been to Handel's a handful of times, and there is usually a fairly busy line, but it moves pretty fast. They don't skimp on portions, nor is the presentation ever sloppy, no matter how busy they are. Considering the generous portions, I was pleasantly surprised by the price. Definitely less expensive than Cold Stone or Ben & Jerry's, and the quality is - dare I say - on par or even better?! Also, if you ever have to go to the urgent care off Pass Avenue, one silver lining is that Handel's is *literally* right next-door to the urgent care! If there's a long wait, take advantage of it, and pop next door for a scoop of ice cream or a banana split! Or if you have a child who needs some bribing or a post-appointment reward, Handel's can handle that for you! Parking is plentiful, but keep in mind that there is a Starbucks and a 24-hour Vons in the same parking lot, so certain times of day will be busier than others, and some people are bad at heeding the one-way arrows down most of the rows.
