We love going to Mexican and Café in Keller but on this day while we were out, we were closer to the one on Camp Bowie and we were not impressed. There's not a lot of parking in the parking lot, but the ambience is good and as for the service our server spoke mainly to Hispanic customers she took her order and disappeared, and then when we got our order, she disappeared and came back one time to check. The gentleman behind us ordered a margarita, but then they brought his food along with the drink, and he made the comment that it took her to long to get his drink. The food is great. We always love the chips and hot sauce. Beans were excellent. I ordered the fajitas but the fajitas for One was $20. Usually a restaurants have fajitas for two but this one did not and I thought $20 was a bit much for the amount of meat they gave but there was a lot of onions. My husband got an enchilada plate and it was good next time we will stick to the one in Keller. They have better service. read more

I got a coupon for one bogo entree on the mail so we went for dinner, it was about 6 o'clock on a Monday and the restaurant was nearly empty. We were seated immediately, the chips and salsa were good and fresh although the chips are corn chips like fritos instead of tortilla chips. They give you two types of salsa and one was too tomatoy lol the other was nice and a little spicy. We both ordered beef fajitas and they were tasty and tender, the beans were good but the rice was dry didn't care for that, I also had a house margarita which was good too. My wife and I used to work in the area and ate lunch at this location at least once a week. I've been eating at Mexican Inn Cafes for many decades and love their food especially those "Frito type" chips they're famous for. They can't be beat and they're addictive. My wife and I had just finished a late afternoon appointment and it was nearing dinner time. Mexican Inn Cafe was right around the corner, so it fit the bill. My wife and I decided to order a couple of Happy Hour Frozen Margaritas and an order of chicken fajitas to share. We asked them to bring on the chips and salsa and the Margaritas, it was time to get the party started. The chips were warm and perfectly crispy, and the Frozen Margaritas were creating the right amount of "brain freeze" as we were sipping them. Shortly our chicken fajitas arrived. Mexican Inn Cafe's house made tortillas, especially the corn ones, were SO good. The fajitas and all the accompaniments were very delicious. Needless to say, our tummies didn't leave the restaurant hungry. We can't wait until our next visit. read more

On an early Sun. eve, we were greeted warmly & escorted to a comfortable booth. Our yummy dinner began immediately with bowls of their fresh, warm homemade corn chips, tortillas & mild & spicy salsas. While perusing the menu, we enjoyed a cold beer & house sangria. We then ordered 2 different enchilada platters with all the trimmings. Both arrived hot, fresh & full of flavor. The waitress was very attentive & accommodating. Went to the Camp Bowie location for the buy one get one free enchilada dinners, although we went at lunchtime. The last time I went, I wasn't thrilled with the food, but this time it was really really good. The service was good. The food was hot and my friend and I had beef enchiladas. My plate had one cheese enchilada with chili con carne on it and the beef enchiladas had queso. The beef was really delicious and I enjoyed my lunch thoroughly. They always bring out hot corn tortillas and they are not microwaved because they don't curl up when you butter them. They are hot and they stay flap and easy to chew and really really good. You can tell the difference. The rice and beans were also good. It was more food than I could eat for one meal so I enjoyed the rest the next day and it was Yum. I'll be happy to go back. read more

We found a coupon in our local mail delivery for buy 1 get one. We haven't been to Mexican Inn in forever so decided to give it another go. Our food came out quick but it didn't taste quite as good as we remembered. It filled our tummies up of course but I feel it was missing something...flavor. The rice and beans were magnificent as usual but the spice on the con carne cheese enchiladas...VERY bland. My sons ate their food right up but they were quite hungry by the time dinner time rolled around and would devour anything. I ended up only eating 1 enchilada, the rice/beans and a corn tortilla with butter and of course the chips/salsa but even those...the chips were all little broken pieces. Not the usual "frito" looking chips. Not sure what changed with Mexican Inn. I've been going since I was a kid...about 40 years noW. Can we change a few things and get back? I have faith our next meal will be better. Did we change a recipe? An off night perhaps? No telling. Hoping things will look up in the future and I'll try again later. Thanks guys. read more

For true TexMex food and ambiance this is a perfect place to eat. The chips are unique in their size and shape and have a similar taste of Fritos. We ordered enchiladas and Tacos and they were awesome. The service was prompt and brought our meals hot and fresh. I give this restaurant five stars! read more

It had been five years since I dined at a Mexican Inn and grandsons Evan and Austin had never been, so we visited this location. I was hoping it would be as good as last time but it wasn't. Evan had the chicken enchiladas, Austin the chicken tenders with fries, and I the combo with a crispy beef taco and two beef enchiladas with chili con carne. The chicken tenders were dry. The chicken enchiladas were average. Same with the taco, beef enchiladas and rice and refried beans. There was no carne in the chili either. The nachos were below average. Chips were greasy and the salsa was too sweet. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table because they were short staffed. Once seated, service was okay. I think it will be my last visit to this location. Not sure if I'll ever visit another one either. read more

I got the brisket street tacos and my husband got the nachos. my husband said the street tacos were fine but he could throw some cheese on chips and nuke them at home. Ehh. I would stay away from here. I've come three times now only because we get coupons in the mail. Decided to bring an out-of-town guest last night since I had one on hand that we could share. I got the brisket enchiladas, and she got the brisket burrito. Both of us hardly touched our plates. The brisket had pretty good flavor and everything else was just so so. The rice was really mushy and overcooked, and the cheese sauce was blah. The best part is the homemade corn tortillas that they give you when you first arrive. Unfortunately, ours tasted underdone this time. Weren't very enjoyable. Normally it is a nice touch though! When we went to check out at the counter, we found out that they no longer accept coupons on the weekend. What a disappointment!! I used this same type of coupon before on a Saturday, so I didn't think to check if the policy had changed. We only come here to eat mediocre food because of these coupons in the mail. The prices here do not line up with the quality or taste of the food, so it was a bummer to have to pay full price. But we respectfully did. Oh well! Now we will know to choose somewhere else next time. There are so so so many other *much better, yummier* places in Fort Worth that offer the same prices. I will definitely bring guests to those places instead. Unfortunately, it is the next morning now, and we both feel quite sick. This is the only restaurant we have been to together this weekend, so we are assuming Mexican Inn is the cause. I have gone here for YEARS. The service has always been a little hit and miss but the past two times I've been (in the past week-ish) was a new level of bad. I am talking HORRIBLE. The worst it has ever been. We got our drinks at the same time as when we got our food (after ~30-40 minutes of waiting). We had to ask another server for our drinks because our server was MIA. We only saw our server twice, once when we ordered and once when we needed our receipt. On another note, I would highly recommend hiring more staff. I personally only saw two servers and it very busy. I was sympathetic to the amount of tables our server had, though. So I understand there would be a decline in service quality because of the sheer amount of customers he had. Also, each person I came with had something wrong with their food. One person ordered cheese enchiladas, there was beef in it. One person ordered a taco with just meat and cheese, it came with everything. One person asked for double rice and no beans, there were beans. Also also, the "bus boy" was in charge of both bringing chips/salsa to customers AND cleaning the tables. We came in during a busy time and all the tables were stacked with food because he didn't have time to clean them off. TDLR: The food is always the same, good not great. Our server was horrible and the overall service was almost worse. Hire more staff and please either give your "bus boy" less to do or hire someone else along with him. I'll be back because this place is nostalgic for me. For the regular customer though, it certainly would have been a major turn off and I would not want to be back. read more

I went here in 2017 with a good friend who loves this place, two days before my senior year of high school. My friend and I are almost the exact same meal (chips and salsa, sides) but he got enchiladas and I got the tamales. I love tamales but I could not tell you what theirs tasted like. I can tell you that about two hours later I got violently ill and that this was the worst food related experience of my life. I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN THIS RESTAURANT AND I CURSE IT EVERYDAY I PASS BY IT (since I live on Camp Bowie). Don't come here unless you enjoy food poisoning. Also their chips suck, I don't understand the hype. It's a damn frito chip. Try Cancun's or Mi Cocula which are both excellent and have the best chips. read more

Stopped in by myself after an afternoon running around ft worth. They sat me at a bar table, which was fine, there were about six tables seated. The restaurant was changing shifts, so the service started a tad slow. I didn't mind. The food was excellent as usual, the bar is full bar service. I love Mexican inn's salsa and chips. Took half my meal Togo. I had enchiladas, food quality control is always top notch. The price was very reasonable, unlike their neighbor, uncle Julio's (which I love but is pricey). I'm an old Ft Worth native, it's nice that some things never change. I'm very glad that Mexican inn is still around! read more

Been coming here for years and I love it! The environment and menu are humble but they've gotten it right every time. Their chips (and tortillas) and salsa are a comfort food at this point. Their queso is basic but there are very few things it DOESNT taste good when you pour it on top. I've been eating their enchiladas after our FWRFC rugby matches for 10 years and I still look forward to the post match meal. I love the frito chips they serve, way better than regular tortilla chips. The queso loco is AWESOME. Don't recommend just for two people though unless you want leftovers, it's a lot. Their guacamole always taste fresh, and the enchiladas are so good. Mexican Inn isn't hardcore Mexican, it has kind of a Tex-Mex feel to it, so don't get your standards too high. Yeah, I'm a big fan. Stopped in for lunch on Sunday. Sat at the bar, my favorite spot to watch what other patrons are having and how customer service is working. I was promptly greeted, my drink order taken, and left with a regular menu, and a menu of specials. The shift manager was hanging around behind the bar, and came down to recommend the smoked brisket items on the specials menu. Unique, fresh chips and salsa were brought. I loved the salsa, thick and a little spicy. Decided to go with the smoked brisket taco special. Between my order time and when my food was brought out (not long), I snacked on the chips and salsa, and watched the service. Every person through the door was greeted and seated immediately. Servers were promptly behind the front desk seater to take drink orders and explain the specials menu. The shift manager was constantly out on the floor stopping by tables to ensure everyone was happy. I also watched everyone leaving, as they had to stop by the cash register to pay. Everyone was asked how the meal was, and the overwhelming answer was "fantastic". My smoked brisket taco plate was outstanding. Not too much food. 2 soft flour tortilla taco's with the brisket meat inside, with a small cheese cup on the plate, a couple slices of avocado, scoop of Spanish rice, and 3-4 oz of charro beans. Just right. The smoked brisket was amazing, incredibly flavorful and moist. Most of the entrees are $7-$10, so with a drink, your are in the $11-15 range person, a great value. But don't forget to grab a freshly made praline ($0.85) before you walk out the door! Plenty of parking at this Camp Bowie Blvd location. Friendly staff and great food. What's not to love!
