Found this place last minute and treated my top8free teen to dinner here. It's hard to find good spots that are safe and this one did not disappoint! I was able to enjoy a vegan rice bowl and my teen enjoyed gluten-free, dairy-free tacos. This is a review solely for the phoritto I first heard about this majestic hybrid of my two favorite foods at the Smorgasborg food fair in Brooklyn, NY. I never made it out there. Then a few years later, I read about a place in Cali that started making them. Again, I never made it out there. I would never have thought that a place in my homogeneous hometown of Glastonbury would start making these. TBH, I had quite low expectations based on other reviews but decided to try it out for myself. Well, I didn't think the phorrito was terrible. However, it was much too dry. The phorrito needed a better sauce than MexiPho's pho sauce which was just siracha and hoisin sauce mixed together. In MexiPho's version of the phorrito, you definitely don't get any hints of the hearty beef broth that pho is known for, so essentially, you're just getting a burrito with noodles instead of rice. Would I come back and get another phorrito? No, but I'd come back just to get some of their other Mexican fair. read more

Holy MexiPho. My friends have been trying to get me here because I love Pho and I love Mexican food. I was skeptical of a phorrito. I am a skeptic no more. Wow. Just wow. I got a chicken phorrito with noodles, veggies, guac, scallions, sprouts, and their phorrito sauce, which was probably the best life decision I have ever made. It literally tasted like pho without the broth. Which I never eat the broth anyways, so this was literally perfect. Their chips and guacamole are pretty fantastic as well. My mind is blown, my tastebuds are blown, and my stomach is happy. I might have to go here weekly now for a phorrito. Well, I'll be damned. Who knew the flavor combo would actually work? I stopped in with a couple friends over the weekend and tried the pho-rito for lunch. I'd been curious about the Mexican-Vietnamese concept since Mexipho opened but shied away from visiting until this point. It sounded intriguing but a completely unfamiliar kind of fusion. I ordered a pastor burrito with rice noodles, cilantro and lime plus black beans, guacamole, cheese, jalapenos and sriracha. Flavorful, filling & perfectly balanced flavors. I'll likely come here again if I'm in the area but to be honest, I probably won't try the pho. There are too many good Vietnamese restaurants around with really great broth (and good pho totally comes down to exceptional broth) so I'll probably opt for the pho-rito again. I LOVE Vietnamese flavors, and incorporating fresh herbs and rice noodles into a burrito adds layers of texture and brightness you don't normally get at a Chipotle-style chain. My advice: Order a burrito, go for pork, since pork is a more traditional Vietnamese meat, add all the herbs/peppers, skip the cheese, and be sure to get their special sauce. Guac optional. I stayed w the staples, my burrito was very good, the set up is you order at an extended bar, with choices for everything- think Subway or Chipotle - and they customize it for you as you get to the cashier. Look, fusion is hard, and there are some things that are on point and others that are just average here at MexiPHO. So unsurprisingly, I came in here in order to try the PHOrito. The concept is sound and even looking at the menu I could tell that it would work as a meal but still needed to try to decide if it excelled. I followed the menu recommendations for my fillings and shortly had a PHOrito to go. Which is probably the way I would prefer to patronize this spot. The interior setting is nothing spectacular and felt like most other generic fast casual places that one would go into. That's fine. The food is good but not amazing. The phorito was tasty but nothing stood out as being excellent. An amazing concept will only truly achieve superiority by having amazing components making up the final product and that is where this spot lacked. Looking at the rest of the menu, I don't think this would be my first choice for either Mexican or Vietnamese food because nothing looked excellent. So, I tried this place on a whim - the combo of Vietnamese and Mexican food sounded intriguing. The first time I went, I got a burrito, which was delicious. The second time I went, I tried their pho, which was also delicious. The third time I tried their nachos with their pork pastuer, which was delicious, and for a while, that became my go-to. Then I tried their Tres Leches cake, which reminded me of the cake I had from a bodega in SoCal and had been dreaming of for years. Food was ok. Ordered nachos platter. I think I might have preferred ordering on line rather than in person. On line it looked clear as to what options were included vs in person where you don't know which items are an up charge. I said yes to the queso as it's in the title of the player. I definitely didn't ask for extra, yet when I later looked at my receipt I was charged extra queso. Also, I wasn't familiar with the heat levels of the salsa so I asked for one to go in the side. I was not trying to order a $2.50 side of salsa and chips, but I was charged that (without getting extra chips too). Nachos weee ok, I would have preferred if they were able to put the order in an oven/toaster as the shredded cheese didn't melt and it wasn't the right overall temperature that I like. I even ate there so it wasn't like it cooled off on the ride hone. Overall I felt that I was "nickel and dimed" without explanation. I recently had the pleasure of checking out MexiPHO. I was seriously skeptical at first wondering how a place can master both. After looking at the menu I had a hard time choosing but decided to go with mexican street tacos (who doesnt love tacos). I chose mexican street tacos which i subbed the refried beans with black beans. I wanted to try a variety, so I went with two soft with one chicken and one steak along with one hard shell with steak. I couldn't finish all three, but it was so good. Adding gauc made them perfect. I was impressed by the flavors and the size of the tacos. To me the best one was the hard shell with the steak. I haven't made it back yet, but I will definitely be back to try more of the menu and recommend checking this place out. The customer service was good as well. The employees were friendly and had an answer for my 100s of question. lol Sidenote: I also left my purse behind by accident which they held safely for me until I retraced my steps. lol very thankful for that! read more

This is my go to place in glastonbury! It is an authentic twist of two of my favorite foods. Not only is the staff amazing and friendly, but the Margaritas are amazing! I highly suggest the Pina Colada flavor! The food is stellar!! I was excited to try this idea, an interesting mix of Pho and Mexican flavors. I was pleased to see they offer vegan broth ( and tofu ) as most Pho is made from beef or chicken stock. The staff was nice, the atmosphere was clean and new, but nothing cozy. I was disappointed with the vegan broth. I thought it would be more like a veggie stock, I shouldn't have assumed. It was VERY bland, I think the tofu was uncooked too. I wanted a small and only one size was available at that time, so I was charged for a large. Wow! Mexican and Vietnamese are two of my favorite foods so I was really excited to see someone write a review on this place and find the time to go! We enter and there's a huge empty space before the counter. I had to change the baby so I asked if there was a changing table in the bathroom and I get a no response. Which I have grown accustomed to but my daughter is now 8 months old and changing her has become an Olympic sport so if there isn't anywhere to strap her down to- it's a little more difficult. We stood in front of the counter for what felt like forever looking at all the options and choices. They offered us a sample of the meats. I decided on the phoritto with chicken. You can get noodles and rice! Win win. Overall, 4 stars. On our way out I asked to sample the chicken broth and it honestly wasn't bad. I might try the pho next. I've been to a lot of pho places over the years and mexipho is by far my favorite!! They make the most flavorful and fresh pho and prepare it chipotle-style, starting with the noodles and proteins, then adding any toppings in the exact ratios that you ask for. For example, I LOVE cilantro and scallions so they always give me a generous serving of those when I ask for it. Each pho is made to order and customized for each customer. I am so obsessed with this pho that I might be addicted. I just can't get enough. I've never tried any of the other menu items bc I am so obsessed with the pho. Mexipho is an interesting experience. An odd combination of Mexican and Vietnamese food, it hits some of the high points of the fast food of both cuisines. First of all Mexipho is a fast food place, built around tacos, salads, burritos, tortas and pho. You walk up to the counter and the server builds your order in front of you. If you have some familiarity with what should go into a bowl of pho or a torta you're all set. If not you can get some coaching from your server. They might try to dissuade you from putting pickled jalapeños in your pho, but.... As a fast food joint it is clean, modern looking and functional. With a little more warmth than your typical Macdonald's. I went for the torta as they are pretty hard to find in this area. I was able to concoct a passable one from all the ingredients offered but I admit it wasn't the best torta that I've had. Somehow having an abuela in back putting it all together makes it that much better. I think Mexipho should add bahn mi to the menu. Like a torta they are fairly rare in central Connecticut and the sandwich format would only require the addition of a couple ingredients. Mexipho offer Avery modest selection of beer and wine as well as juices. All in all, a decent place for a lunch. I'd consider it again if I were in the area. read more

This place is a cool concept mixing pho and Mexican in a chipotle style of service. There's a good menu with a nice selection of options. Their phorito is a combo of pho and a burrito which I'm sure is good, but I'm a little more traditional when it comes to pho, but I will likely try it next time. Everything is customizable so if you want carnitas in your pho, go for it. They have patron margaritas and beer which is a nice touch. Their fountain drinks are a little pricey, but you can get horchata which I love. I was here during the 12 lunch hour and it got pretty busy, but there's plenty of space and quick service. read more

My son loves the nachos and typically goes for the beef broth soup with pork al pastor meat and then traditional Pho soup items. The Mexican burrito is great, the flavor on the yellow rice is very good but I tend to come here more for Pho than Mexican but that is just my personal taste. The only knock on this place is the prices are a couple bucks more than Chipotle near by which is a consuideration if you are strictly looking for the Mexican food, burritos and bowls specifically.
