The food truck came recently to our neighborhood and offered us a way to have dinner outside with all the proper social distancing protocols. Families walked up, waited 6 or more feet apart to order, then went back to their own lawns to enjoy dinner. We could talk across lawns and walking by in the street. It worked great and was one of the few safe things we could do and still pull together and have something to look forward to during this tough time. We loved supporting a small business that has to be creative during this time. The food was amazing! Everyone enjoyed it. The staff was accommodating and worked hard. I enjoyed all the food, but their chips and guacamole were esp good, the asada and carnitas spot on, chicken nice and moist. Plenty of flavor. The burrito was also amazing. YUM!

Some recommendations is the carne asada nachos! The tortillas are super good, really enjoyed the garlic shrimp plate, and of course had to make tacos out of them with their delicious tortillas! But then he came back and said it didn't register so needed to redo some of our orders. He then told us his shift was ending and another girl would be taking over service of our tables. Then the food started coming out. Some plates we didn't even order. Some plates were extra plates of what we ordered. Tortillas came with the plates and I ordered corn tortillas, but they gave me flour. I asked for corn and returned the flour. The server said he has to charge me for it. I asked why? I didn't get what I ordered. I shouldn't have to pay extra for something I'm supposed to get, but didn't. He initially didn't understand, but finally got it. Food was good. One person's carne asada was burnt and tough, but others said what they ordered was good. Glass of wine was a bit skimpy for the price. Then the bill came. We triple checked the bill to make sure we weren't charged for anything we didn't order since there were so many plates that came out that we didn't order. Turned out a plate of chile verde was on the bill that we didn't order. Had our new server take it off the bill, but the automatic 18% gratuity didn't change. It was based off the original total because she took off the cost of the extra charge as a discount not a deleted item. The bill was finally cleared, but it should not have been so much work for us to make sure the bill was correct. In the end, consensus was the food was good, but the service was dysfunctional, between the multiple mis-orders and multiple requests for napkins, utensils, tortillas, and chips and the questions about the bill. Maybe okay for smaller groups or if you do go with a larger group, ask to do separate bills.

I used to work here years ago so I know how much care goes into the food & drinks. The Puesto Perfect Margarita is still my favorite margarita I've ever had. Everything is made fresh & you can absolutely taste the difference. I always order mine with a sugar rim. It's consistently refreshing, balanced & incredibly smooth. We stopped by on a Monday around 4:30 p.m. just before happy hour ended. It was nice & relaxed when we arrived. It only started getting a little busier as we were leaving. We took advantage of happy hour & ordered a few favorites. The potato taquitos have been one of my go-to menu items for years & are just as delicious as I remembered. Crispy on the outside, flavorful inside & served over a generous bed of fresh guacamole that makes every bite even better. We also tried one of the newer happy hour items the short rib mini burrito served with a green sauce. Both my husband & I really enjoyed it. The short rib was tender & the sauce added the perfect amount of brightness. I was happily snacking on the chips with the molcajete salsa. It's one of my favorite restaurant salsas. I also love the chips with Puesto Perfect guacamole. It makes it hard to stop eating. Since it was my birthday I treated myself to a Tropical Candy Shot. If you like bold flavors definitely order one. It reminded me of a Mexican street candy in shot form with a Tajín rim & a pineapple garnish. It was festive, flavorful & the perfect birthday treat. The sweetest surprise of the evening was the complimentary birthday dessert. A slice of pistachio tres leches cake. I love tres leches but I've never had a pistachio version before. It was incredibly moist & rich without being too heavy. The pistachios added the perfect crunch & nutty flavor. It was one of the highlights of the meal. One small detail I always appreciate is that they bring a pitcher of water to the table. This makes it easy to refill your glass throughout the meal without waiting. It's a thoughtful touch that makes the dining experience feel more comfortable. I'm so glad we came back after not visiting for quite a while. I love the consistently amazing margaritas, delicious happy hour menu, & warm hospitality. The thoughtful birthday surprise made it even better. It was a wonderful way to celebrate. I'll definitely be back! If you're visiting for the first time do yourself a favor & order the Puesto Perfect Margarita & potato taquitos. Also save room for the pistachio tres leches if it's available.

Doubling stacking deals was a big brain idea, I'll admit. I originally discovered Puesto through the Crazy, Wild Taco Night event I attended earlier this year, and it's nice to know that their restaurant offerings maintain their quality even outside of the competition setting. We ordered chips and salsa, esquite, non-alcoholic passion fruit margarita mocktails, filet mignon tacos, surf and turf tacos, and a grilled shrimp taco. I think I would skip the grilled shrimp taco next time, but the other two tacos were great and the 50% off price point made them even tastier. Our host and server were both very friendly, and we enjoyed the meal. Free self parking is available for two hours with validation from the restaurant.

The margaritas, with the chamoy rim, brings me back every time. Soooo good! It's not too sweet and the chamoy gives the margarita a salty sweet balance. I've come on different occasions and have ordered different items on the menu. Yesterday, I ordered their molcajete and was overjoyed by everything in it -- from the cheese (queso panela) to the grilled steak, chorizo, nopales to the bulby onions... EVERYTHING was full of flavor and had the perfect texture! My bf and I also ordered aguachiles. We noticed it wasn't on the menu, so we figured it wouldn't hurt to ask and they made a special order for us! It's my absolute favorite over ceviche. I believe it was Senior Gonzalez who helped us. He was super attentive and made us feel so welcomed! He gave us an extra side of rice and a round of shots just because! He even went out to get ingredients to make us the aguachiles! He absolutely went above and beyond!! And the final product was phenomenal. It was pretty spicy, but balanced out perfectly with the fresh tostadas. Ambiance is your traditional mom and pop shop. Located in a small/medium sized parking lot. Feels private when you turn in. Good sized location, clean and everything is served fresh -- including the chips and salsa! 10/10 coming back! I'm ready for another margarita!!

Start cleaning out underneath your table pushing you out as fast as they can. The bar just closes down not even announcing a last call. And what is with those awful margaritas. I can't believe that a Michelin feathered Mexican restaurant can serve such awful margaritas. And I am not alone as I mentioned it to another Restaurant crowd and they agreed and said they were probably the worst margaritas in Orange. I don't know whether it's the mix or the amount of alcohol or what it is but they come out watery and really sour. A totally good dining experience has to encompass everything, food is only 50% of the deal the other 50% is service with a smile, and this one lacks it. Now there could be a reason for this epic shutdown at 9 PM. But I wonder what it is? Santa Monica seafood in Santa Monica on Wilshire Boulevard has to have last orders in by 8:30 because if they are not closed out by 10 o'clock entirely, the neighbors complain that they are putting out trash and making a noise after 10 so that I understand. But it took me a year to find that out from the owners. Restaurant owners are so stuck up and anal, I know I was one. Gabbi, whom I have never seen, should spend a night or two watching her Restaurant closing up.
