From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with "Welcome home" and seated. Bobby was our waiter and he was knowledgeable, polite, and offered my guests choices and recommendations on our orders. And in true Savini tradition, our Specials Menu had been prepared with a Happy Birthday notation on top of the page for my special guest! The Filet Mignon Crostini, a special on the menu, was fantastic! Each of our entrees was perfectly prepared and delicious. Desserts were also wonderful. We started with a spread of appetizers that set the bar high: the Stuffed Figs and Meatball specials were standout hits, and you can't go wrong with their perfectly crisp Caesar Salad or the Escargot Scampi in that delicious puff pastry. For the main course, the Filet Mignon Oscar and Veal Imperial specials were prepared to perfection - decadent and incredibly fresh. The Cacio e Pepe was authentic and flavorful, and the Capellini special was light, but OH SO satisfying. They topped off the night with a beautiful birthday surprise -- Crème Brûlée (complete with a "Happy Birthday" chocolate sign and candle!) along with the Mixed Berries with Biscotti (can't go wrong with perfection!). Later in the evening, when a nearby table was seated, we overheard the dinner specials being described and realized there had, in fact, been entrée specials available. Unfortunately, we were never told about them, and some of the dishes mentioned sounded like options we would have considered ordering. There were a couple of aspects we didn't enjoy. First, the chairs were extremely uncomfortable. Although they appeared upholstered, they essentially felt like fabric stretched over wooden blocks--not ideal for sitting through a meal. Second, while the waitstaff was pleasant, it was difficult to get their attention for things like drinks, and the restaurant seemed understaffed. On the positive side, the hostess was warm and personable, even taking photos for guests, which was a nice touch. As the evening went on, however, the restaurant became quite loud. For a Tuesday night, we expected a quieter atmosphere, but it felt more like ladies' night out.

Rather than simply pointing out a few menu options, they took the time to understand our needs and were incredibly accommodating. They even modified all the party menu items to be gluten-free just to ensure there was no risk of cross-contamination and that everyone could enjoy the meal safely. The level of service, kindness, and attention to detail was outstanding. You could tell they genuinely wanted us to have a great experience, and they succeeded in every way. Don't make a reservation here for a special occasion. The owner Eddie does not honor reservations. I have been dinning in bergen county all my life and this has never happened to me. I should have read other reviews of customers who encountered the same experience. A graduation only happens once and its rude to let your guest know at the time of the reservation that the restaurant wants to sit you outside because now they have no room inside as there is another party going on. I am 84 years old with Asthma and It would not be good for my health to sit outside on a hot day. Another great suggestion was make I could climb down 12 plus flights of stairs. Wish I could do that with a walker. How about honoring the original reservation that was made three weeks in advance and confirmed three days prior to the reservation. If special occasions are important to you make reservations at a restaurant who values their customers and not here. read more

We've always been regulars at Mezzaluna, but they had the fire we were stunned. Finally they reopened the doors and they're back in business better than ever. They redecorated the dining room, bathrooms, and the entryway. It looks amazing, and they did a wonderful job. Now let's talk about the food......and what a surprise. The menu is a little short than before, but added new dishes to it. The food tases a lot better, they're fresh, and they change specials daily. The scallops appetizers were to die for, probably the best we've had, same with the octopus. When the entrees came around the short rib pappardelle and the Chilean seabass by far the best ever. The service was spot on and checked every time to see how we were doing. I would say to whoever hasn't tried it yet, you must go. What can I say. it has been a long time and I finally decided to write a review about Mezzaluna Ristorante. I have been there so many times I can't even remember but I can certainly say that I have never been disappointed. The food is great and the options are always changing. the menu has plenty to offer and the chef is accommodating at all times. Edi the owner is an incredible host but overall a great respectful man. Always ready to please you and attentive to all customers. His staff is kind, professional and polite. I have had retirement parties and birthday parties for my friends and family and the feedback from all the invites was always excellent. I highly recommend Mezzaluna for everyone. The location is at the top of town in Allendale parking isn't easy but it's a typical town parking location. The restaurant is very clean and decorated in a modern motif. Italian music playing in the background. The appetizers were cooked very well. We had stuffed zucchini blossoms. Fried calamari was cooked very good. All of the entrées were very tasty. I would only say that with the steak there should've been crumble on top and they only had sauce next to the steak. I think that would've only enhanced the dish. It's a BYOB and I highly suggest you bring. It'll make for a nice evening. read more

My family and I have been here many many times, and it's great all the time, we mostly go during the week of course because the weekend its very busy there. We had our daughters communion there, and they were great at helping us set up the tables the way we wanted and gave question to all of our answers. Ask for Ron when you'll go there and he will take care of you. We drove the man crazy but he understood what we wanted and made everything possible for us. Mezzaluna has the best combination of excellent food, wait staff & price you can find. I've never had a meal that wasn't delicious & I've picked from many different apps. fried calamari, mussels, cold antipasto to name a few. Main courses, chicken sorrentino, grilled swordfish, penne bolognese & of course chicken parm. Their desserts & coffee or espresso are a fantastic way to finish off a great meal. I go out to eat as a treat to myself & my family & have always had a wonderful experience there. I highly recommend trying them out if you haven't already. read more

Have always enjoyed both the food and the service at Mezzaluna and recently hosted a memorial dinner in the private room downstairs. Owner Eddie Veseli is a pleasure to work with. He accommodated all of my requests, made sure the room was arranged exactly as I wanted, created a delicious menu, and personally checked with me during the dinner to make sure that everything was satisfactory. Ok the food was very good. However the service was awful I had to ask for my soda 3 x. Then they did not bring any bread. For an Italian restaurant that was a true faux paus. When I finally had to ask for the bread it was ice cold. We had the calamari which was quite good although the marinara sauce only mediocre. The linguine w clam sauce again was delicious. Mezza Luna is definitely a 5 star restaurant. The food is always outstanding! There are many appetizers & entrees to pick from. All that we have tried are very tasty. Our most recent meal was a "special" - delicious breaded soft shell crabs either served over a bed of spinach with potatoes or with a mesclun salad which is what we had. We also had the Mare Nostro with tomato sauce, capers, fresh mozzarella, basil, Italian tuna, red onions, grated pecorino, and Extra Virgin Olive Oil. While I loved the white pie at Morsetto, I always prefer red pies and this time was no different. The briny capers and zesty tuna made for such a unique bite full of Mediterranean flavors. Both pizzas were cooked perfectly, with the lightest char on each crust. The homemade pastas were similarly tasty. The Marevivo was a delicious blend of orecchiette, lobster and U7 Ecuadorian shrimp meat, oven roasted tomatoes, and Extra Virgin Olive Oil. The chunks of shellfish were fresh and tender, so I would have loved more of them to have been included. The sauce was robust and had notes of sea flavors within it. Then there was the Le Pugliesi pasta, which included orecchiette, Italian broccoli rabe, anchovies, seasoned breadcrumbs, and Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I loved how earthy that one was, but it was definitely salty. If I was going to be consuming a dish with so much salt from anchovies, I would have preferred to actually see some pieces of fish included. However, there were none visible, so I assumed they must have been blended into the olive oil, of which there was a substantial amount on the plate. Lastly, we had ordered Spaghetti and Meatballs for a child in the group, and I sampled one of the many meatballs that came in the bowl. Despite being noted as 100% beef meatballs, they tasted rather light and more like pork, so I was not really a fan, but the child enjoyed them. All of the pasta was served al dente, which I appreciated, but others in the group did not. I also should mention the service, which was friendly, but not as engaged as we would have liked. For instance, we needed to ask for things like red pepper flakes, more water, serving spoons, etc. when those should have been given to us proactively. Overall, I was pleased with my Morsetto experience and would recommend it for a casual dinner. Just be prepared for a carb fest!

The cacio e Pepe was an enormous portion compared to places I've had before. The flavor was rich and thick and creamy and not too peppery. The chicken francese was a huge portion as well and well flavored. The queen pizza came out at the same time as all of food so we ate one or two slices but mainly focused on our entrees. We brought so much food home. Everything was delicious. My only complaint was the AC was on so high I was freezing and thankfully had a light jacket in my car. I look forward to going back to Pazza and trying more of their food and hopefully having room for dessert next.
