This was the first place my group stopped on the way to our Cape vacation and was NOT disappointed with my first lobster roll of the trip! The lobster is PILED on. You definitely get your money's worth! I literally had to eat some with a fork to clear some to be able to pick up the bun....I think that is a good problem to have! The roll also comes with a side of fries and they were good! My friend ordered the onion rings and they were better so I totally would sub those if I ever come here again. They also have plenty of other options for seafood as well non-seafood options for your lame friends who don't like fish HAHA This place only has outdoor seating, is a walk up window to order and porta potty bathrooms so be conscious of that when you visit! But plenty of parking and an amazing view! I highly recommend stopping here if you are in the area!

I had to scratch my fried clam itch and decided to check out the seafood shanty. After reading reviews, I knew I needed some cash because seafood it pricey, but I couldn't find my bank nearby so I had to pay the extra $3 for their onsite atm and $3 at my bank. We got the lobster roll, a large fried clam, and a fried scallop roll. Let's start with the good. The lobster roll is massive. There was so much lobster, you had to start with a fork before you can approach it as a sandwich. The French fries were also solid. The fried scallop roll was good, but the batter on the scallops weren't very interesting. The fried whole clams were fine, but the bellies were tiny. I love the big belly clams, they are both look and taste way better (as long as they are fresh). Overall, the lobster roll and fried scallops are items I'd reorder, but the fried clams were disappointing. It is for sure a shanty, with portapotties for restrooms. When you drive over, the turn can be quick so take it slow before you turn in. The person taking my order was nice but the person serving the food didn't seem to be in a friendly mood and distracted me where I forgot to ask for extra tartar sauce (a place like this should always prompt you because you can never have enough tartar sauce).

OH MY GOODNESS. BEST lobster roll I have ever had. BY FAR. It was soooo much lobster meat for the price-- pro tip: order an extra roll on the side to split up the meat if you're sharing... it was still more than enough (and there were three of us). So fresh, so flavorful, perfect balance of sauce and not dry at all. The chicken fingers were also crispy and delicious-- I can just never pass up a tendie. The fish and chips was also super crispy, perfectly salty, and juicy on the inside. More than enough food for the three of us to share everything. The fries were just okay in my opinion and I felt a little wasteful just because there were so many. Just such a cute little house on the side of the highway. Great for watching cars and watching the sailboats float on their merry way. They have a large parking lot and area outside with picnic tables and umbrellas to sit at. All the workers were also very friendly. I want this lobster roll every day!

Our first stop in the cape? The Seafood Shanty! I don't know if I'll ever get over how scenic/ beautiful this place is. Stopped in on a Tuesday and there was no line, plenty of parking, and lots of open tables to sit and enjoy your food. The menu is simple but offers a wide variety of fresh seafood. We went with the famous lobster salad roll (cold lobster, lightly tossed in mayo) and the fried scallops. Both were flavorful and the two plates alone fed three people plenty. $74 (CASH only) for both the plates and a coke. Service was quick and friendly.

Excellent food and what a great way to start your cape cod vacation. Service is pretty quick. You just order and grab a table and they'll call your number. A lot of seating area. A good amount of parking also. We got the clam chowder and it was delicious. It's not the creamy typical clam chowder people are used to eating. It is more soup than a chowder. It was very good. The lobster roll is huge. I suggest asking for an extra roll and splitting the lobster onto two rolls. The scallops were ok but lacking a little bit of seasoning is the only thing.

As someone with a shellfish allergy, traveling in the Cape and finding good spots to eat with a large group was definitely tricky! This was a must-stop in our group, and I was happy to see there were a few options available for folks in my situation. My group raved about the various seafood options they ate, including the lobster roll, fish and chips, and fried shrimp. They also said the onion rings were great. I would have loved to eat a burger and fries, but the fries are cooked in the same fryer as the fried shrimp, etc., and the cross-contamination risk on a grill at a place like this is too high. I ended up going with the chicken salad on a roll, and it was good! It could have used a little seasoning and a crunch, such as some added fruit or celery. I especially liked that the chicken salad was on a roll, as it made me feel included with all my friends who enjoyed a copious amount of lobster rolls during our trip. The outdoor seating was super cute and plentiful, including options in the shade. They are cash only, but have an ATM available! There are outdoor port-o-potties for use. I'd recommend stopping by if you're in the mood for a quick, easy lunch with lots of options -- especially if you love all things fried!!!!

The seafood shanty was such a yummy pit stop on our way to Cape Cod! We ordered and waited less than 10 minutes for some delicious seafood. We enjoyed the fish and chips, onion rings, fried shrimp, and lobster rolls. The fried shrimp was incredible! The lobster was plentiful in the roll and very enjoyable. They took our friend's shellfish allergy very seriously and she enjoyed the chicken salad roll. Need to know: cash only and the picnic tables in the back provide great shade of it's a hot day. Definitely worth the trip!

Homemade Clam Chowder

Took advantage of the hot day and rode the bike out towards the Cape. Stopped in at The Seafood Shanty to give them a try. Wanted Clam Cakes but unfortunately they don't serve them. Ended up going with their Fish Sandwich (served with Fries) and a Bowl of their Homemade Clam Chowder. Not only was everything very good and fresh tasting, but the food came out rather fast for made to order service. The cashier and window workers were smiling and friendly (and she even made sure to explain the Chowder wasn't a creamy style to anyone who ordered it to prevent any confusion). They had plenty of seating available both in the sun and in the shade as well if you wanted to stay and eat there. **Cash Only here but they do have an ATM onsite**

Lobster Rolls!!! I've had a lot of lobster rolls in the last 30 years abut this was the best one in memory. The lobster meat, and it was ALL lobster meat, was piled at least an inch higher than the roll. You needed a fork to make your way through it. There was a bit of mayo to bind, and a piece of lettuce and a proper lobster roll, a ROLL, not a hot dog bun. It was buttered and toasted on the outside. It was served with a hugh amount of french fries, and all for $30. It's open for the season Friday April 4th. It's off the Bourne Bridge and a perfect stop as you're leaving the Cape for one last, perfect taste of the sea. There is no indoor seating, and they don't take credit cards though an ATM is available. Tip: Relax at a nice picnic table and enjoy your lobster roll and a chowder and forget your problems for at least short period of time. Thanks

Outside picnic tables with the Cape Cod canal in the view beyond. Scallop roll and clam strip roll.

This is a great spot to stop in for a quick but enjoyable bite! Cash only. Reasonably priced for the quality of food you get. Plenty of outside picnic tables, this is a seafood stand with no indoor seating....the best way to enjoy your meal overlooking the Cape Cod canal.

If you've ever wondered what it's like to eat a burger cooked directly on the sun, I highly recommend this place. My friend ordered a burger and what arrived looked less like food and more like something you'd find in the bottom of a campfire pit. The patty even looked like someone had taken a bite out of it before serving--probably to test if it was edible. The middle was drier than Cape Cod sand in August. We might've asked for a replacement, but the staff had the charm of a DMV on a Monday morning. Maybe it was his mistake ordering a burger at a seafood shanty, but after a long day of seafood, he really wanted something simple--like an actual burger.

fried scallops and chowder

The Seafood Shanty in Buzzards Bay is a wildly popular seafood shack. I came for fried seafood and a clam chowder and I thought it was alright. The line is extremely long to order and it's so hard to find parking. The food does come out pretty quickly which is nice. Fried scallop plate was around $30 which is very reasonable and the clam chowder was reasonably priced as well. The scallops were great but the chowder is terrible. They do tell you it's thin when you order but it pretty much just tasted like clams in clam water. I probably wouldn't come back considering the hassle and would rather spend a few more dollars at another place.

Fish sandwich with fries

1st time stopping here , didn't know what to expect . I was out here for work . So I didn't want to spend $30 on a lobster roll. I should have seeing everyone else's after I ordered my sandwich. My sandwich was good , nothing special , tasted like a filet o fish with lettuce and tomato, it had deep fried fish on a burger bun, the fish was very plain , as the bun , nothing special . But it's exactly as advertised. A fish sandwich with fried $15 and a coke for like $2.50 The lobster rolls are like $30 and look amazing. Cant wait to come back and splurge one.

The lobster bisque was disappointing and quite bland, especially given the hype. We also ordered a cup of clam chowder and it barely had any clams in it and was also very bland. I ordered a lobster roll and a separate order of onion rings as well. The lobster roll was just okay , the lobster itself was cooked well, but there wasn't a lot of meat for the price, so it didn't feel like a great value. The onion rings were fine but nothing special. The setup is more of a quick-service style: you order at the counter, get a buzzer, sit down, and then go pick up your food when it's ready. It's convenient enough if you're looking for something fast and casual, but between the bland bisque and chowder and the average lobster roll, it's not a place I'd go out of my way to visit again. I probably wouldn't stop here next time.

GREAT LITTLE EXPERIENCE HERE! The wife and I were on a bit of a Sunday drive from the Mid-Cape. We…read morewanted to try something new, so we drove to Sandwich to see if we could come across something. We were in the area of Fisherman's View, and decided to go to a place we both had been long time ago; we knew it then as the Sagamore Inn. Now, THE SAGAMORE, it's a gently, though sophistically renovated (not losing any charm), clean, comfortable spot. We opted to sit at the inside bar. It's a smaller bar boasting one row of seats, facing your bartender. Nicely presented liquor stock, and a neat, clean bar overall. This particular Sunday, it was holiday, Palm Sunday, for those who celebrate, and we strolled in about 2:30PM or so. A nice, welcoming, upbeat, bartender named Mikayla (sp.?) greeted us, and immediately made us feel comfortable; this is so important! I ordered my favorite drink: an Espresso Martini. One of the best is at Columbo's in Hyannis, so they were up against a challenge. I noticed right away that they use top shelf vodka in their martinis, so I knew right away I was in for a treat, a top quality martini! The martini's taste did not disappoint; it was fantastic. A perfect balance of espresso, blended with the best vodka, other superb ingredients, and shaken perfectly; not too strong; not too sweet; just right! Definitely up there as one of the best. One drawback: owners, if you ever read this please take notice: the martini's contents did not fill the martini glass when served. The drink was 3/4 full. Even the great John Taffer from Bar Rescue would say this is a no-no. Going out as often as we do, we certainly notice the martini glass size game. Sometimes, you'll get a "full" martini in a tiny martini glass. Well the Sagamore, uses a full sized martini glass, though when we inquired, we're advised it's their protocol to only fill it 3/4 of the way up. Well I'll tell you, it makes for a horrible presentation, the customer feels as though they aren't getting a full drink, and in 1-2 sips, the glass looks half empty. It wasn't worth taking a star away for sure, because the price at $14.00 is a very fair price when others charge $17-$19 a martini. It''s more of an insult when those expensive martinis come in a smaller sized martini glass. Please, The Sagamore, fill the glass. I get its top shelf vodka and a fair price. Do a smaller glass, or go up a dollar and fill the regular sized martini glass, or don't go up a dollar and just fill the glass please! We did, as I said, bring it to the attention of Mikayla, who was so nice to bring my second martini closer to the rim! So appreciated, and really part of the reason we'll be back; and we hope we don't get you in trouble! Haha. To the food: superb. Definitely NOT greasy bar food, it's way above! Those fried provolone were fresh, light, airy, not heavy with old oil. Delicious taste. Even the marinara for dipping was delicious. I had a meatball sandwich that was huge, I actually saved the second half. The meatballs were fresh, not frozen, tasted delicious. The onion rings were light, fresh, sweet, tasty. It's so nice that The Sagamore uses fresh oil in their fried food. My wife ordered the scallop roll, there were plenty of scallops on it. The scallops were light, sweet, tasted fresh. My absolute favorite were the pickles they serve at The Sagamore; I've never had anything like them! The were fresh with a spicy sweet flavor that just popped and made for a nice addition to my sandwich. Mikayla was so accommodating and nice to give me a few extra for my to go portion. To the chefs, cooks, prep people: THANK YOU! We noticed your hard work and attention to detail. Please keep it up! Definitely will be back, and if you've never been, it's worth the trip whether you're on Cape or off! As you folks that read my reviews know both my wife and I have owned restaurants, bars etc. I try my best to be fair, respectful, understanding in my reviews. We are both always respectful of our servers, without question. (Really, everyone should be!) Servers can make or break a place. I will say Mikayla truly added to our experience at The Sagamore (and no, I do not know her!). When we go out to an establishment, we want to relax, enjoy, be happy, be accommodated. Mikayla helped provide this experience, along with all the others that make The Sagamore a great place to go. Keep up the great work, and you'll have people coming back over and over again, and telling others how fantastic you are!
