The restaurant was extremely loud, I know that's not entirely their fault, but people were literally shouting at the top of their lungs. We couldn't find a seat; there weren't enough tables inside. The food was disappointing. The chicken was burned, and the lahmacun smelled strongly like sheep. On top of that, the chef or owner kept staring at us in a way that made me feel really uncomfortable , as if we weren't welcome there. There was a table next to us with about 10 young men yelling loudly the entire time, and they didn't even eat. I went to MezzeMe when they were more like a Chipotle and it was decent. However, fast forward to today and they've completely upped their game. All of the food has been amazing. The falafel, doner, chicken thighs. My uncle got some dough wrapped meat and cheese plate that was phenomenal. They bring out some flat bread with a harissa or red hummus that is a fantastic appetizer leading up the main course. Their open kitchen is very inviting and warm, and their dining room is a little eclectic but cozy and also welcoming. The pita was fluffy, soft and delicious. The borek was new to me and so fantastic. I'm picky about falafel and theirs was fantastic as well. Doner quality is below average and we were served either overcooked and dry or on a crowded day completely undercooked, shaved in a hurry meat. MezzeMe has slowly become one of my favorite restaurants. The service is great. It seems to be family-run, and there is a high-level of attentiveness for a restaurant where you order at the counter. Workers stop by to check and see how we are doing, clear out finished plates, and sometimes offer us samples. Since they offer coffee and beer and wine, it's a nice place to chill for any occasion. My personal reason for ordering from MezzeMe so often is the lentil soup. This particular variety of lemony lentil soup is what I want to eat when I'm feeling down, so my partner will get some to go when I'm ill. There are a variety of mezze items to eat alongside it, but I usually stick to one of the hummuses. Their falafel is one of my favorite falafels in town, for when I want something more substantial. My partner usually orders one of the meaty wraps. If you order a flatbread, be forewarned that they are huge! It's entree rather than appetizer-sized. The desserts are all fantastic. I always love coming here. Even more so after visiting Istanbul for the first time. It's authentic, friendly, and has a great atmosphere. The veeerrry first time I came by this place was in 2017. I experienced a tender moment but didn't even walk in. I sat on the rim of the big water fountain for a nice little break from work near by even while it was so hot out. A kind employee came out, offered a fresh cup of water and invited me to come in any time to order and enjoy the food. Being a half Persian lady, I very much appreciated this and I've remembered the gesture ever since. Fast forward to current times, I've always been satisfied coming here. I will always order the beef köfte, first thing on the menu...easy! It's my favorite and I especially enjoy the pickled cabbage that it comes with. The bread is THE BEST in the area. You can even have a za'atar-like experience with an order of bread and marinated olives. And the tea and deserts are so satisfying. It's a great place to bring a group of people to have a meal or to have just two people as well. We got the two soups they had which are the lemon chicken and the lentil soup. Both are very delicious and surprisingly, came with a large homemade pita bread that went very well with the soups. It was my first time trying the Turkish coffee and I thought it was very good. I enjoyed the little espresso cup it came in. The wrap tasted very fresh and thought it was nicely flavored. I would want to come back and try other things! The staff here are very nice as well. You order up front and then they give you a tag so they can bring you the food. They also have some to-go items and some snacks you can purchase up at the front. MezzeMe is located on the triangle and we were able to find parking pretty quick. There was ample sitting both inside and outside but we decided to sit outside because the ambiance felt more romantic. We had never had Turkish food so I really didn't know where to begin. She recommended a couple of different main dishes but we ultimately ended up getting the Governor's Plate which comes with chicken, kofte meatballs, ground lamb kebab, gyro, rice, cabbage and onions! For a shareable we tried their truffle feta fries. Both were AMAZING!! The meat was so tender and delicious. My favorite was the chicken and the meatballs they were charred and smokey with a little kick. The rice with the cabbage and pickled onions paired amazingly with the fatty meats. But the fries were out of this world. When I googled their menu I was sold. The food was fresh, light, filling and delicious! I even took food home for seconds. We could not find a place near us that served healthy food however this place was under our nose the entire time. We usually eat heavy food for lunch and then end up feeling tired and groggy. Having Turkish food in different cities will always leave a different taste. Being someone that is Turkish I always love trying a new place. Prices were very reasonable. Staff were very attentive, including the owner/manager. I'm not familiar with the location, but it was in a very nice place. There was outdoor seating as well as indoor. Indoor ambiance was nice. The food tasted amazing. The lentil soup is very delicious. The dough used for the Pide was light and delish. It was thin crust and not as oily as other places have them. First time trying Turkish food with a friend and I would definitely go back! Everything was fresh and flavorful. First we started off with the lentil soup with a squeeze of lemon, stuffed grape leaves and my favorite borek cheese pie. Although I wish there was more cheese in the pie. The layered flakey dough made up for it. Then for the main dish we had the spicy lamb with pickled red cabbage and rice. I thought there was a lot of on this plate for what it's worth. Then we finish with the best thing ever, the kunefe, which is this round pastry soaked in sugar syrup, filled with gooey mozzarella cheese, topped with pistachios. It came hot and ready to eat. Cons: the entrees came out before the appetizer we ordered; when the food came out, the staff member wasn't sure which entree was which; there was an issue splitting the check in 2, and it took a while to resolve--those things happen, so nothing major. Pros: staff was really friendly and accommodating, despite the challenges above. The food was delicious--my favorite was the iskender plate (very complex but balanced flavor, the texture of the toasted pita smothered in tomato sauce was perfect), but my friend liked the Chickme Out. They bring you pita and a scoop of red pepper hummus for free, and they offer a complimentary cup of tea or coffee after dinner. We tried the Iskender, Chicken Wrap, and Lamb dish, and all were unique and very good---although I would recommend the Iskender overall. For the price you get quality food and not bad portion sizes! I could always use a bit more food so my judgements are usually a bit biased but I was fairly full by the end of the meal. They give a large portion of rice and a fresh pita bread so there's no shortage of good carbs ;) I got the chicken plate and it was juicy and lightly seasoned so you could taste the chicken itself. The cabbage, onions, and ezme salsa were all fresh and not overly seasoned so everything just felt fresh and healthy.
