Awesome party restaurant with micheladas and mariscos! These micheladas are OUT of this world! Came on a random weekday afternoon with my uncle because we were craving a michelada and a friend recommended this place. Hidden in a pocket in Livingston, this little restaurant is an awesome find with plenty of seating and TVs visible from every corner of the restaurant. The server who helped us was also super nice! I ordered the Boom Miche and my uncle ordered the Caguama Chelada. Both were bomb! They clearly know what they're doing when it comes to their miche's and the michelada mix. The fried shrimp on top too is phenomenal! We also ordered 6 ostiones preparados and they were delicious! I really like mine with a squeeze of lime and some of the Mexico Lindo Habanera Verde sauce on the table. Would highly recommend! We also ordered the 7 Mares (7 seas) soup, which came with potatoes, carrots, mussels, fish, crabs, scallops, and shrimp. I LOVED the taste of it and could stop smackin'. It comes with some tortillas too. My only complaint is that the shrimp in the soup didn't get de-veined prior so I had to peel and clean my shrimp myself. Heads up. But the soup flavor itself was *chef's kiss* If you want some water, make sure to ask for some. You may have to purchase a water bottle (idk, I ended up just drinking my miche). Prices are fair for the quality and portions we got. There are happy hour specials on Wednesdays - Fridays. Would def come back for a miche and some mariscos!

This review is solely based on the food. The Molcajete was loaded with chicken, asada, chorizo, cheese, and shrimp. The salsa it came with was piping hot and not too spicy. This was a 8.5/10. The service was so bad though so idk if I would go back. It took almost an hour to get the food and the check never came. We had to go up front to pay.

Friends and I did an impulse stop here strictly for drinks. Basically, it's street parking here and the place seemed popular with the locals. They brought us menus. Even though we weren't going to eat, we looked over the menu...the prices looked reasonable or maybe a little high. They also brought us some chips & salsa...which were really good! The table next to us ordered some micheladas...that were insane and one had three bottles of beer inverted into their glass. Our drinks were fine. They had live music going (en español). We all said we'd like to come back and and try the food....maybe soon. If you're driving on Hwy 99 and want some drinks and or Mexican food, you might want to consider this place.

I came in a group of about 20 people and the staff were pretty accommodating for that, but nothing would make up for the blaring music and having to wait an hour for our food to come. They brought the food in batches and the first batch was 45min after we ordered and the last batch was over an hour after we ordered. I understand it was a lot of people but waiting over an hour for a meal is unacceptable, especially considering the mediocre quality. During the wait we couldn't even talk because the music was so loud and multiple people had to step out because the couldn't take it. The staff was kind and gave us 2 rounds of chips and salsa which kept me open minded, but overall the experience was just horrible, so much so that I will never come back again. The food was okay but you could get this anywhere else without the horrible atmosphere and wait time. It was also pretty expensive which made it all worse. Waste of money and time! Shrimp Tostada $8.99 3/5 Horchata (Large) $5.99 4.5/5 Enchilada Verde $16.99 3.5/5

Parking was a bit tight, unless they have more parking behind the building. They had a live band when we went, but I didn't ask whether someone privately arranged it or the restaurant hosted it. They have complimentary chips and salsa and we ordered their regular micheladas. They were just okay, I'm not sure if they forgot to add ice or if they just don't add any. My boyfriend and I shared the he molcajete and it was plenty for us. The food was good and the server was friendly.

Honestly, honestly I probably would never go here if I wasn't a local. It's a little hole in the wall in the center of Livingston. Some questionable activity definitely happen here, not the best rep BUUUuuuUuuUt!!! Their micheladas are so freaking good! Really it's the shrimp that make them to die for. They leave the skin on while cooking, which at first I found strange but they explained that's how they keep all that juicy flavor in them! They're tangy and spicy and delicious! Servers are always so sweet, they get super busy on weekends! I recommend going on a weekday to enjoy your michelada experience!

    Spicy seafood mess

Very rarely do I write a poor review but this place was pretty horrible. Drinks were super slow to come out. There were shrimps on the drinks, and I ordered shrimp and my friend ordered the seafood mocajete and another friend the Cajun shrimp entree. Everything was drowning in hot shrimp sauce whatever the hell it was. The mocajete was an overcooked nasty seafood disaster. The shrimp were super overcooked and rubbery and hard to peel. Spice level was super hot without even asking us. The beans were also super watery and lacking flavor. We tried to get the Cajun shrimp taken off the menu because the shrimp were so tough and overcooked and they said "sorry, we can't do that". We asked for water and they brought us Costco water bottles and charged $1 each. Walking to the parking lot all you could smell was rotten seafood, almost nauseating. Overall it was just a horrible experience. Will not return. See the photo for the spicy shrimp mess they served us. No bueno.

Sadly disappointed…read more My friends and I stopped by Commonwealth on a Saturday afternoon for a late brunch. It was a beautiful day so it was busy for both indoor and outdoor seating. Here, you order your food, grab a number, and find your own seat for the food to be brought out to you. We sat at a table outside to decide what to order. There were no menus available so we just had to search for it online before heading inside to order. Despite being third in line from the register, we had an extremely long wait to order. There was only one person running the register who also had to make the drinks, meaning the service incredibly slow. We wanted to order the five taco platter, garlic fries, chicken Caesar salad, and mimosa pitcher. Sadly, we were only able to get the pitcher and salad. The cashier told us "sorry, we aren't doing fries right now." Not doing fries? Every plate in the vicinity had fries on them. She said that because it was brunch hour, only food on the brunch menu could be ordered. We looked at the brunch menu again and literally saw garlic fries as an option as a side for the burgers/sandwiches. No where did it specify that you can't order off the other menu and both were available online. What bothered us about this is that we placed this order at around 1:50pm, and brunch ended at 2:00pm. I understand that we are not entitled to things on the lunch menu during brunch-time for items like the tacos, but considering the menu swap was less than 10 minutes away and they were quite literally were "doing fries" at the time, it didn't make much sense to us. The only food that we ended up ordering was the Chicken Caesar Salad. This one dish took a super long time to receive. By the time it was brought out, the three of us nearly finished the Mimosa pitcher. The waitress noticed we had no silverware and said she would go grab us some. Because of how the service had been going thus far, we placed a bet on whether or not the waitress would come back with the silverware. Surprise, surprise. She didn't. We had to go inside later and search for silverware ourselves. We weren't even able to get sharing plates which was upsetting since the waitress asked us if we would be sharing the salad. The salad itself looked delicious, but was bland. The dressing was missing that zing and zest that a Caesar dressing typically has. I do appreciate that is was a chopped salad, had avocado, and seasoned croutons. It is just unfortunate that it was lacking any flavor at all. The food prices are quite affordable for the quantity of food you receive though. This experience was disappointing because I was so optimistic about the place. The menu looked good, it had fun and casual vibes and a cool crowd of people. If Commonwealth worked towards better service practices, it would have been a more positive experience.

They have limited hours so make sure you plan for it, and they also host events throughout the week which means live music isn't always available. The ordering process is straightforward - you place your order at the front inside and then pick it up with a buzzer outside, which works perfectly for enjoying the outdoor setting. 5/5 Tomato Soup with Half Grilled Cheese was so hearty and exactly what you need after a long drive or before heading into the mountains. The soup was the best I have had in a while, with rich tomato flavor that was perfectly seasoned and had just the right consistency. The grilled cheese was nothing too special on its own, but it paired so well with the soup, especially to warm you up in the cold. The combination is classic comfort food executed beautifully, and you really can't go wrong with this order. The Grove House is absolutely worth planning your Yosemite trip around! It's the perfect stop to fuel up before heading into the park or to unwind after a day of hiking. The combination of good food, welcoming atmosphere, and that small-town charm makes it a must-visit when you're in Mariposa. I would definitely recommend trying this place out - it seems like one of the best restaurants in the area on the way to Yosemite. I'm already looking forward to my next visit and hoping to catch one of their live music nights!

Horrible service experience…read more When we arrived, the restaurant was only about 30% full and there appeared to be four waitresses on duty. After seating ourselves as instructed, we waited nearly 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us or came to our table. We ordered two drinks and an appetizer (cheese curds) and requested a beer flight. It then took another several minutes to receive a flight card, and additional time before another waitress finally came over to enter the order. By this point, we had already been waiting approximately 25 minutes. Nearly 30 minutes after being seated, I finally received my flight. The cheese curds never arrived. Shortly afterward, our entrées were delivered. To be fair, the food itself was good. The larger issue was the complete lack of attentiveness from the wait staff. During the time we were waiting, employees appeared more focused on talking amongst themselves and cleaning tables than monitoring customers. At one point, a waitress cleaned the table directly next to us and never acknowledged our presence. Customers should at least be greeted, acknowledged, and offered water shortly after being seated. Instead, we sat for nearly 15 minutes without any interaction whatsoever. If a self-seating system is being used, management needs to ensure staff are actively watching for incoming guests and providing prompt service. To make matters worse, when the bill arrived, we were still charged for the cheese curds that never came to the table. We had already asked two different waitresses about the missing appetizer. The charge was eventually addressed, but it should never have appeared on the bill in the first place. We visited on Sunday, June 14, at approximately 2:45 PM. Our food arrived roughly 75 minutes after we first sat down. We left a $0 tip, which is extremely unusual for us. We normally tip 20-30% for good service, but the service on this visit did not warrant any gratuity. Management should review what occurred during this shift, including staff performance and table coverage procedures. Based on our experience, there were clear failures in customer service, communication, and basic attentiveness. Unless we receive an apology from management and some indication that these issues are being addressed, we do not plan to return. Potential customers should be prepared for slow and highly inconsistent service.
