Rate this a 4.7-4.For years we were hesitant to come to this restaurant... heard so many things and (I believe it's undergone a management change or two since I've known about this place. Well we finally followed the advice of an a acquaintance and ventured in and, oh my goodness's goodness! The food is by far one of the best in the Poconos, if not NEPA! The food has a fabulous flavor that does not overwhelm in taste or aroma. There seems to be a perfect mix and all you will taste is the spectacular food. I stay away from the Mexican style foods and have quickly developed my own non Mexican dish (with alterations, of course!) And, that's the other thing, the staff is fabulous! Always checking in to make sure you have everything needed to make your dining experience. They will take your changes with a smile, let the kitchen G-ds know your very precise change request. I am very persnickety and have made this my once to twice a week eating place. I would give them a five star rating (but that means they are perfect as opposed to continuing to works towards that goal.) can't officially give them a 4.8 because the program won't let me - but if you read this far, you will (hopefully) swing by and who knows, I may be there too, celebrating happy eating! Saw someone thought this was the best Mexican food in northeastern PA. That's not really the case but it's a nice sentiment. Don't get me wrong- the staff is super nice, but everything else is lacking. The surroundings were a bit sketchy (a motel and some abandoned swimming pool), and the food was pretty bland. Cubed steak meat/gristle, canned refried beans, strange colored rice. I don't live around here, but to say it's a "tourist trap" that has deceivingly good reviews is an understatement once you figure it out. read more

Mi Casa is a real spanish restaurant it is hard to compare it to Chilis and taco bell they are the McDonald's of the food industry frozen food out of bags. We cant wait to go back and share it with our friends. The family is very friendly. Just had dinner at Mi Casa. If it hadn't been recommended I wouldn't have gone inside. From the outside it appears to be part of an old motel. However once you go inside you won't be disappointed. The food was excellent! The food was fresh and authentic! The fajitas were enough for two people! Even my mother enjoyed her tequila jalapeño chicken and avocado salad!! Its well worth the trip! My friend was there yesterday. The waitress has long nails. She dipped her fingernail in the rice and beans as she was handing it to him. Then she tried to pass it off like nothing happened. We were vacationing in the Poconos and was looking for a better alternative than the over-priced restaurants in our resort. I found this place after a quick search on the internet. It had good reviews and was not that far from where we were staying so decided to give it a try. The restaurant is right next to a motel so we were a bit confused when the GPS navigator announced we had arrived at our destination but quickly found the establishment. The ambience was very relaxed and the service very friendly. The food was great with truly home made feel. The nachos with meat (real stake and not ground beef) was definitely a nice dish. The family really enjoyed the tamales, carne asada tacos, chicken enchiladas and taco salad. If we're ever in the area we're definitely coming back. read more

I've been hearing about this place for a long time so I decided to take my girlfriend out for dinner to check out this place. My first impression was that is a tiny place. I placed 2 orders. I ordered the breaded steak with white rice and beans and it came with an avocado salad which was excellent too bad I could say the same for the breaded steak it look good smell good but a robbery as hell I couldn't eat the steak even though I chew on it for about 2minutes. I was in the Poconos for a few weeks, and this restaurant was in my regular cycle of restaurants I went to. The food is very good, as are the prices. I would consider this a pretty authentic Mexican restaurant, although I will admit I'm not the most knowledgeable on the subject. I really enjoy the food here though. Some of the dishes I've had and really enjoyed are the Steak Fajitas (big portions), Tamales (very very good), and the Empanadas (also very good). Other things I've tried are the Chicharrones with Fried Yuca (different than what I was expecting, pretty good though), and the Mi Casa Seafood Cocktail (not my favorite item, was kind of just seafood with avocado and ketchup). On Tuesdays, the tacos are $1, they're smaller sized soft corn tortilla tacos- I highly recommend the chorizo and lengua (cow tongue) tacos. My friend ordered one of the combination platters (with enchiladas, chimichanga, etc.) and it was very good as well, and very cheap. You also get tortilla chips at the beginning, which are served warm with salsa. (The restaurant is part of the Mount Pocono Motel- I have no experience with the motel) read more

Our group of 12 visited this restaurant in Feb 2015 while staying at the Inn at Pocono Mountain. The food is outstanding and the wait staff couldn't have been more friendly. They accommodated a large group easily. Everyone raved about their meals and sangria was very good. Very reasonable pricing. As we left, they were clearing the tables for latin dancing. The expression, don't judge a book by its cover certainly applies to this restaurant. It is located in a motel in Mount Pocono of the beaten path. The decore is modest but the aroma is heavenly. I am originally from the Bronx NY where Spanish restaurants are everywhere. I have been living up here in the Poconos for about five years and the only way I get to eat any spanish food is if I make it myself, which I am pretty good at. The Food in this place is as good as the food in NY, the rice and beans are fenominal, the Pork chops are grilled to perfectionand the Paella (Seafood Rice) was magnificent. I've lived in the Mt. Pocono area for over 15 years now and needles to say that I've frequented Mi Casa often, yes they're food is very good but never have I had service like I had today, when I walked in the restaurant was pretty empty, sat down waited to have my order taken and after about 10 minutes and after seating 4 other tables finally they took my order, needles to say that all the other tables that were seated after me got they're drinks, appetizers and food before I even got a glass of water. Point being the tourist were getting better service than someone local who has been coming there for years, it's understandable that it's tourist season but keep in mind when tourist season is over we locals are who keep them in business. read more

We had empanadas and tamales for apps - all great. Quesadillas and chimichangas for dinner - everything was really, really good. having had lived in mexico and residing in an area in new jersey with a heavy concentration of mexicans, the food is mediocre at best. this may be due to the fact that mexican food products simply aren't available in the vicinity, but couldn't they at least make a trip to nyc or philly, or have the authentic cheeses, spices and sauces sent the heck up there? waiters and waitresses are fairly distant. nonetheless, since this is one of the only mexican restaurants that i know of in the area, if you're really in the mood for it, go for it, but only if you've only eaten really, really americanized mexican food, indeed! read more

Let me just say, it is a little scary when you pull up. The restaurant it attached to a budget hotel and is all neon like a dive bar. The food and service are another story. GO IN. The food was delicious. We were a fairly large group, so we tried many items. The homemade beef empanada's are to die for. I was very pleasantly surprised to find this slightly off the beaten path Gem. The staff was very polite and the ambiance was great with the Mexican music and decor. I don't know why but the food tastes even better with the music in the background. It's not south of the border but it is as close as your going to get here in Pocono.
