Wow. I can't believe how much we liked this place. I'm from Miami, so we know good Mexican. The owner squeezed us in last minute on one of the busiest days of the year and the food was fantastic. It was so good that it made up for the waitresses lack of good service. Just a heads up, everything is a little bit spicy, so there's that. The guac was delish and fresh although not table side. I had the seafood enchilada and it was fantastic with great rice and beans. Chips are of course addicting. The grilled steak was delicious as well and a great portion. We had leftovers. As for prices, I would say it's expensive for Mexican but moderate for Aspen. And you literally must not leave without the churros. Wow just amazing. Probably the best I've had, and again, I'm from Miami, sooo I think there's something to that. read more

Atmosphere was great, wait staff were wonderful but the food was just so-so. The meat on the tacos was very dry and flavorless. Also - keep in mind there are many extra charges - kids order a quesadilla ($10 for a small quesadilla without the drink which is another 3.50) and the 9 year old was up-sold to add chicken which added another few dollars. Decent food. Horrible service. We came here on a whim on Christmas Eve- and let me start by saying we completely understand, no one wants to be working on Christmas Eve. My husband and I have both worked in restaurants and also have family-owned restaurants, so we understand the in's and outs and try to be understanding. However... when your server is just taking shots and progressively gets more and more drunk throughout your meal, to the point where she can't even form a sentence and then disappears for 15-20mins at a time.. it's gets to the point where it's just BAD SERVICE. We liked the food, and the drinks were good too (other than being ridiculously overpriced)- but at the end of the day the entire experience was sub-par and frankly... left us with a sour taste and a Christmas Eve that definitely wasn't memorable for the right reasons. read more

After reading other reviews on yelp we decided to try it! Sat on the patio with our dog... found the staff to be very friendly and appropriate... We're served quickly, cocktails, guac.... and eventually entrées...I found their drinks to be on point, the atmosphere to be lively and welcoming, and frankly the food to just be mediocre.. aside from the guacamole which was incredibly fresh and delicious... I am a little confused on how many stars to give this place. Went inside early and had great service and drinks with one appetizer with 3 people so we wanted to try dinner here with 5 people. Went back and service was not even near what we experienced earlier and the drinks just not good at all. I wish I could give zero stars. I have never felt so uncomfortable placing an order to go in my life. The guy on the phone seemed happy to take and place my order and happily told me it would be ready in 15-20 minutes. When I arrived there was no one at the host stand. I was awkwardly stared at by other waitresses and the bartender for about 10 minutes until someone finally came over. I paid and then waited for OVER AN HOUR as the bartender yelled at the man who I assume took my order that they were no longer doing to gos. Not once did anyone update me on what was going on, nor was I invited for a drink at the bar or even a glass of water even though they all clearly knew what was going on. Then, they brought me my food and without apology was asked if I needed silverware. Then just handed the food in silence!!! This was the weekend of Motherlode and the Jazz Fest as well as a couple other events. If you can't properly prepare and staff, don't even bother opening your doors if you're too Aspen STUCK UP to comp a margarita or apologize or thank me for waiting. I come here every year during the summer and I've been here quite a few times. The food is really great, although sometimes it's just not consistent. The margaritas are super fresh and delicious and the service is good. We typically sit at the bar. The only downside are the prices - they have a decent happy hour, but even at that, you're paying. But, then again...you are in Aspen. All in all, this is one of my favorite restaurants in Aspen and for mexican food...I think it's great. read more

This is my first negative review. I had a terrible experience with the male manager here. We wanted to watch a specific football game. We went to the restaurant around 2 PM and asked if they would be playing the game later that night. The hostess said yes, no problem. We arrived an hour before the game to get a table and asked when we arrived if they would play the game. The manager said yes, no problem. The game started and that same manager started changing the tv to another game. I approached him and said 'we were watching the game'. His response was 'what tv?'. I said 'either one, it was playing on both'. He said 'I KNOW THAT, EVERYONE IS CRYING ABOUT THEIR FOOTBALL GAME' in a loud tone and with a major attitude. To say I was shocked by his reaction would be an understatement. I later addressed his response with the female waitress and she apologized emphatically for his behavior. His reaction felt misogynistic and sexist, insinuating that I was crying about asking to keep the game on that we made sure (several times) they would play. I was shocked to find a manager behaving like this to paying customers. His behavior ruined our experience at this restaurant. The only positive that came from this experience was the female waitress and male waiter profusely apologizing for their own manager's behavior and comp'ing some of our order. 1/10 would not recommend anyone ever go to this restaurant. read more

Must be expensive due to Aspen? I ordered the Taco Salad for $17. I personally thought that was a lot for a salad but my boyfriend got 2 tacos for the same price. For the price, there was not much of each topping and I did not like the chicken. It was dry and had this burnt/charred flavor that overpowered everything. They said their specialty was the carne asada, but I found my carne Asada tacos had a bunch of burnt and overcooked pieces in it. The manager Meztly, or so she said that was her name, was rude. She looked at us with our two kids and said sorry the restaurant has closed early and I'd say you could eat at the bar, but not with "them". It was 8:00 pm. Their website said they were open until 11 pm! We were staying at the Ritz and our concierge recommended them because I was craving Mexican. We had our shuttle drop us there. It was freezing cold, snowing, and we were left outside their restaurant with 2 little kids. We luckily called our concierge for what to do and White House Tavern was open and more than willing to serve a family with kids. It was a little walk, but we found food eventually. Point of my post, don't be rude to people visiting, or people with kids. The Ritz concierge will think twice before recommending them now! Came here for dinner with a large group and we were seated immediately. Our order was taken shortly thereafter and the food was brought without incident. My friend and I shared appetizers because we were semi stuffed already and decided to indulge in some guacamole, ceviche and the brussels sprouts/beet salad. I also had a moscow mule type of drink called the Mexican Mule. The bartender is very heavy handed so my drink had me spinning a bit while enjoying the food. I enjoyed everything we ate but have to note that the guacamole was very mild. Mi Chola has a really cool modern vibe and the crowd is a mix of rich 20 somethings play hard millennials and very rich 40 something divorcees on a girls night out. read more
