The food was amazing , we had an appetizer that was delicious didn't get a picture, the server was so attentive and nice , he never let my cup go empty however for the hostess I don't know if she was having off day , one when I walked in she gave me a weird look maybe because what I was wearing , I just left a frightmare convention but it was a very judgemental look and then when she was seating us my bf and I asked her where is the restroom located and she was staring at her watch I think reading a message and we asked her three times before she looked up and finally answered , later she forgot to tell a waitress that some guest was sitting in her area and the guest complained they have been sitting at the table for 20 minutes and no one had came by to assist them. We came on a slow Monday so there is plenty of tables and no wait. A chilled dim lit dining room. We ordered a redfish ceviche as an appetizer but it was not brought out until our meal served. The problem was the ceviche was hot. When I asked the server she said it was placed under a heating lamp. (Big NO NO) she said that's how they serve it. (I did try it but decided not to eat it, my husband ate it as he doesn't believe in wasting food, plus the server said that's how it's served and ended up a really bad stomachache later in the night that kept him up all night. My father also ate it and also reported an upset stomach.) I did tell the manager when he brought us our check that the ceviche was served to us very warm/hot but he didn't seem to care and kind of looked at me in disbelief as my husband and father had eaten it, understandable. He didn't say a thing just took my payment. The fajitas were decent but for the price I was expecting a better quality meat. The redfish taco was nice with the coleslaw. The grilled redfish was good but our salmon plate was sub par. It was old frozen salmon not fresh. Give 1 star due ceviche. Would have been 2 without out ceviche issues. Very disappointed. read more

Is Mi Cocina on the downside??? Chips and salsa were typical, margarita was nice and strong but the food......pretty basic! I had cheese enchiladas and it was not great. The sauce tasted like it was straight from the can....the cheese was runny, the charro beans.....straight from a can, zero taste or seasoning. The rice was decent. Ambiance was good. However the service was not our waiter was not attentive at all; came by at the very end of our meal when we flagged him down for to go boxes and that's it. We had empty glasses sitting there and were not checked on. On top of that the wooden high chair that was provided to us to use was broken in four places and was not safe. The food was mid nothing special about it the ground beef didn't have really any flavor at all. We have eaten here many times over the years and we are appalled by our experience. It had been years since my husband and I had been to a Mi Cocina's and today proved why. From the lemonade it was Country time lemonade. The queso was from a can. Tasted like the awful cheese you get at a 7/11 store. The salsa was can tomatoes with a little chilis mixed in. Came to this location for the first time. It's much bigger and more open than other locations I've been to. I loved it, the decor, atmosphere, food, and service. My wife and I were craving Mexican so we hit up Mi Cocina in Ft. Worth and had a fantastic meal. I had the Sunset Beef Fajitas and she had a new shrimp dish they just recently released. The fajitas were fantastic, they came in the standard serving style on a skillet but have some super flavorful spicy queso and friend onions. The crisp from the onions and that cheese made them out of this world good. Exactly what I was craving! My wife's Chipotle Lime Shrimp Tacos were also incredible. They had the perfect amount of heat and the flavor was on-point! Definitely will get them again! We washed it all down with a jalapeno margarita and my wife had the skinny margarita. Both were excellent. We sat on the spacious patio and the ambiance and service were great! We've been here twice now. This is probably one of my favorite locations because it's very large and spacious and doesn't feel cramped. I enjoy sitting along the back wall. They are the oversize booths, which means anybody in the middle is stuck. My favorite item here is the nachos. Not a pile but a good portion of chips splayed out. They have a couple of different offerings so I always feel that it's a nice touch that it's not just cheese and chips. They give each person their own individual salsa, so you can feel free to double dip if you like! They are known for their mambo taxis which I have enjoyed for years, but they do have a long drink menu and of course lots and lots of options in their full bar. Also, can't visit Mi Cocina without having their famous Mambo Taxi. They're so good and strong that they have to limit them because if you drink too many you'll be doing the Mambo straight to a taxi (no drinking and driving folks!). Enter Mi Cocina, about which I've heard from more than the average number of friends "this is my favorite Tex-Mex place". Idk, it seems like every other Tex-Mex place to me. Service was fine. Atmosphere is like, "yeah this is a Tex-Mex chain." Several bulbs were out in the fixture above our table. We came near closing on a Thursday and the place was nearly empty. I'm doing Keto, so I ordered the taco salad. It came with the smallest amount of beef I've ever had in a taco salad. They bring ranch, which was tasty, and definitely more on the Tex side of Tex Mex. It has tortilla strips mixed in, which I had to pick out, though I liked the crunchy texture it introduced. Guacamole was good, a nice avocado-forward balance with salt and citrus with crunchy onions. But, this is hardly a claim to fame. For a cuisine that's extremely easy to make at home with off-the-shelf ingredients, Tex Mex underwhelms unless I have just that particular hankering for the hot, gooey, cheesy, spicy mix of the 10 or so flavors intermixed to create the typical menu items. This is my problem not Mi Cocina's. If you like Tex Mex, Mi Cocina will deliver middle-of-the-pack dishes in a chain setting. read more

Visiting during the week was peaceful but lax. Upon our arrival, we weren't greeted immediately, but that was soon remedied through Mi Cocina's customer service. We ordered two Ceviche de Camarones (Verde; and Pineapple and Jicama), #10 Two Pork Picoso Tamales, and the "Mi Cocina" Margarita. All of the food we ordered were good, but one of them takes first place--the Ceviche de Camarones (Pineapple and Jicama). This dish was packed with flavors and was filling. In comparison to the Verde, the Pineapple and Jicama one wins by a mile, so if you're torn between the two, definitely choose the Pineapple and Jicama. As for the #10 from the lunch menu, it was alright. There wasn't anything that truly stood out. Nothing was too special about the drink either. As for the customer service, it was a bit odd. We were initially greeted by a lady, but she never really came around to getting our orders, so another server served us. He, on the other hand, made sure we were taken care of which made the experience a lot better because the environment overall was a bit odd. Overall, I'm unsure if I'd visit this location again. Look, if you are going to charge premium prices, the food and staff should be on par. I go here a lot(wife likes it) and I have had more issues here. From plastic being fried in the chimi to guac that looks like it was sitting in the window. Damnit, if Taco cabana can make and keep guac looking good, someone that charges $9 for the same serving size should. I hadn't been to Mi Cocina in several years and decided to visit this evening for a dinner with my team. The ambiance is nice and the servers are too. But, there's a but... the prices have really (really) gone up and the quality hasn't. It was Tex-mex and only "meh". The drinks were even worse. I ordered a skinny margarita and it tasted like a watered down limeade. For a drink that isn't supposed to have water in it, it was incredibly watery. We had to send back drinks and meals this evening for quality. That's just not the standard I remember from my previous visits. I have eaten here numerous times and it was quite delicious. However today was unfortunately not the same experience. We ordered the ribeye tacos and the way they plated them the tortilla was completely soggy. I ordered medium rare and they were well done. Our waiter was nice, but he said it was his first day and it showed. Completely ok, but before throwing staff on the floor, they should be trained better on the menu and more knowledgeable.
