    Wood Grilled Salmon
    Jade S.

First of all, I want to say our server was great! She was very friendly, attentive, and consistently checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed. I ordered the wood-smoked salmon, and unfortunately, it was disappointing. The presentation was very plain, the portion size was small, and the salmon itself was quite bland. I think the dish would really benefit from more seasoning and at least one additional side. For the price, I expected a larger portion and much more flavor. On a positive note, the drinks and appetizers were delicious and definitely the highlight of our meal. While the service was excellent, I hope the restaurant considers improving the flavor and value of the salmon entrée.

I was excited to try something new and heard of this place about a year and a half ago that it was pretty amazing from a good friend of mine and decided to meet a friend there for lunch at 11:30. We placed our orders, excited to try our food we had heard much about. 45 minutes later we received our steak salad and a steak with side of fries. My Friend ordered her steak medium well I ordered mine medium her steak came out, medium very pink in the very chewy. My asked if the steak would be remade, the waitress took the plate and it took them another 22 minutes to get the steak out. By that time I was half done with my lunch. I will say our waitress was very non-sociable. Her skills of being a waitress was liking. There was no empathy emotions as a matter fact she had no skills and has no business waitressing same with our chef very sarcastic saying that the steak takes longer to cook. (I call B.S! needless to say I will not be back. (At that location)

My friends and I came here last week for dinner. We were quickly greeted and led to our table. We loved the lively atmosphere and the rustic interior. Gage was our server and he was helpful throughout the dinner. We split the carmelized onion dip and spinach artichoke dip, both were creamy and delicious. I had the bowl of chili with a side of crackers and sliced sourdough bread. The chili was delicious and filling and paired well with my crackers and bread. My friends enjoyed their dinner as well and we look forward to returning.

If you go on a Friday evening like we did parking can be a serious challenge as about a million restaurants share the same parking. Whiskey Cake is very loud. I ordered a bowl of turkey chili. It has an excellent spice level and comes with seasoned crackers. They also put Fritos corn chips on top. The Brussels sprouts are also delicious. Someone in our group had fish and chips which she enjoyed. The Whiskey Cake was a hit. Whiskey Cake is pretty good. The congested parking is a lot to deal with.

Shut up and take my money. Impeccable service. Staff was super helpful, over the phone answering queries about wait time and in person. The servers are very knowledgable about the food and drinks and were able to break down the mixology (my husband found a new favorite whiskey). As always, hubby asked for the dairy-based condiments to be left off his dishes, and although he has more of an intolerance than an actual allergy, the server (without being asked) consulted the chef and was able to list every dairy ingredient in every dish, down to the milk powder in the brioche. (You'd be surprised how often the staff just shrugs and has no idea what's in their own food.) I believe no matter what you order, it will be one of the finest examples of that menu item you will ever taste. We had the crab cake appetizer, prime rib and gouda stack, french onion burger, chips, fries, whiskey cake, and cocktails. My husband's old fashioned was the best old fashioned he had ever tasted. He ordered a second. The food was sublime, each menu item was either delicious or outstanding. Whiskey cake is the only item on their dessert menu because it is the only dessert you will need. It is their version of a sticky toffee pudding. It's huge. We were there for a birthday, so we were given the whiskey cake for free. I'd say the margarita was just a margarita, and the water in the fancy jug was definitely gross tap water, but every other food and drink item was perfection. The restaurant is appealing and clean inside. I am glad we were seated in one of the side porch areas where there is sunlight and fewer folks. The interior is quite dark and loud, but nothing outrageous. It's just that style of restaurant. Happy hour is weekdays 3-6, with a small selection of popular drinks for $7.

3.5 stars Pros: -Best charcuterie board!!! Loved this so much -Crab cake -Amaaaaaazing brined bone in pork chop -Chili butter potatoes -Whiskey cake with those pecans omg -Perfect service -Fun friendly atmosphere Cons: -Steak and shrimp special - the steak was undercooked while the shrimp were overcooked, both not good -Broccolini that came with the pork chop was so raw in texture it was actually hard to eat -The value is not great - I don't mind paying for quality, but the special alone should not have been $80 I would probably go back, but I would be careful about spending a lot of money on the steak or specials again.

Very good eat. Tried this spot on a whim. Ordered the crab cake, a little pricey but soooo good and absolutely worth it. Also had the shrimp rigatoni. The body of the pasta was very solid. The shrimp was grilled with smoky heat and adds to the overall dish. Great meal overall and would try some of the other items on the menu.

Another great evening meeting with friends. Ended ended up sitting at the bar because there was a wait... It's because it's so great here. I had the Perfect salmon cooked medium Paired with the best roasted potatoes they were buttery and a little crisp. My friend order the Fish and chips and she loved them. Her wife ordered Grilled shrimp pasta with no shells on the shrimp. I had to mention that because it's kind of handy not to deal with those tails. The place has an elegant atmosphere with a little bit of fun. The bartender was very nice and helpful. We had a couple of old-fashioned the smoked ones of course. Can't wait to come back alone or with friends.

A fabulous evening. We called about an hour ahead and spoke with an awesome host. She was able to squeeze a reservation in for 3 at 6:15. Fantastic! We arrived right on time and was seated within 5 minutes. The restaurant was packed....always a great sign. We started off with the charcuterie board and it was absolutely Devine! We really enjoyed it. I ordered the haddock fish and chips with fries. It came highly recommended from another foodie fish lover. It's beer battered and was flaky. Haddock is my absolute favorite white fish and this did not disappoint. My sister took my recommendation (I had never tried it but it sounded super tasty) and ordered the Prime Rib Gouda Sandwich. She loved it and I tried half and our friend tried half of that and I'm telling you our eyes rolled back in our head. It was absolutely delicious and I can't wait to order it all for myself the next time we visit. Seriously it's an eclectic sandwich and mouth watering good. Our friend had the Tavern Burger and of course I tried a bite. We both agreed. It too was delicious. Perfectly prepaired and seasoned. Our waiter, S. Carter was the best. He was courteous and super responsive. Well done Whiskey Cake! Ps...how did I walk out of here without getting dessert? Next time!

I haven't had Whiskey Cake in a long time. I ordered to go. I got the Spinach & Artichoke Dip, along with Shrimp and Grits. I was able to call in and place a pick up order which was very easy. I couldn't find the Spinach & Artichoke dip as an option to order online from Uber Eats or Door Dash. The menu online was more condensed down to certain items. The Shrimp and Grits were amazing! You can tell it was made from scratch. All the flavors just went together. I enjoyed it. The shrimp were grilled to perfection. The Spinach & Artichoke unfortunately wasn't my favorite. And I love Spinach dip down but I wasn't too fond of their version.

    Whiskey Flight

On a visit to Fort Worth we were interested to try Whiskey Cake. It is a modest size chain of restaurants in the Texas region. To be honest, I was intrigued by the fact that they have an incredibly large collection of whiskeys. A lot of them Texas whiskeys which I have had a few over the years, but wanted to try more. Let's start with the drinks. I had a whiskey flight specifically of regional whiskeys. This is a great way to enjoy tastes of four different distilleries. Each pick had its own unique flavor profile which is what I had hope for. They were uniquely their own, which was great fun to contemplate each spirit. My favorite was an easy drinking smooth bourbon from 9 Banded. My wife opted for one of their signature cocktails, in this case, a guava gimlet. This vodka based drink was not only very flavorful, but also aesthetically a very pretty cocktail. When it came to food we started with a brussel sprout appetizer. The are tossed in a hot honey vinaigrette along with boursin cheese, grapes, spiced pepitas, and parmesan. A great beginning as all those flavors came together to wake up our pallets. For our main course my wife opted for a fire vegetable medley, which was perfectly portioned for her. It's not huge, but it hit the spot for her. If you were hungry, I would make that a side dish and not a main course. I tried their pork chop, and while I am not one to lean on hyperbole, I will tell you that it is the best pork chop. I have had in my life. I love pork chops. If restaurants have them on the menu I know that they are probably adept at cooking them because it is easy to overcook a pork chop. Whiskey Cake's chop was tender and juicy and the flavors they infuse it with were just perfect. It was not overly salty. It was loaded with tremendous flavors and had nice carmeization. In the Fort Worth region, there is a chain called Perry's that boasts the best pork chops. I will say in comparison I give the nod to Whiskey Calenwhich says a lot because a Perry's pork chop is tremendous. It comes with bacon braised greens which were very tasty and an apple chutney. For dessert, we had to try the namesake. Their signature Whiskey Cake which is a sticky toffee cake, with a bourbon anglaise, spiced pecans, house made vanilla whipped cream. Make sure to share one because this is a dessert that is too big and too rich for one person to handle in my opinion. It is substantial, spongy, and gooey and sinfully good. It topped off a tremendous meal. Service was also great so I have no way to downgrade the rating that I am giving Whiskey Cake.

The service is so good and elegant with great prices , I am not. Pork chop girlie but babbbby this pork chop was so good and juicy with crispy potatoes, I could have had a second place , the fondue was yummy too , I love the decor of restaurant very elegant and rustic the seating was nice and spacious and even had few couches by the bar . I will definitely come back

    Spinach artichoke dip
    Adrienne A.

Yes this place is pricey but it's damn good food. The steak frites were great, we split that as a meal and they brought it out already split for us which was very nice! The spinach and artichoke dip was good but honestly quite rich for my taste! Also a bit more creamy than I like for spinach artichoke dip, and a lot for 2 people! Same thing with the signature Whiskey Cake, it is DELISH but you need 2 VERY hungry people or 3-4 mostly full people to finish it hahaha. Sometimes it can be quite loud in here, but we've always asked to be seated in quieter areas and have been accommodated without issue! I wish there was more of that there, I don't love how so many of the tables seem to be in areas where sound just bounces around, no idea how those people are conversing honestly lol. Definitely a once every 3-6 months kind of place for us though!

The noise level was extremely high...we literally had to yell just to have a conversation with each other. Service was also very slow. It took about 15 minutes just to be acknowledged at the bar, and close to 30 minutes to actually receive a drink. When I finally ordered, I told the bartender to make her favorite drink. She made something that included raw egg whites (which I later learned is common in certain cocktails), but it wasn't mentioned or explained at the time. A few hours later, I became very sick...vomiting and dealing with what felt like severe food poisoning all night and through the next 24 hours. After looking into it, I suspect it may have been related to the raw egg used in the drink. Just something to be aware of if you're ordering drinks like a whiskey sour or anything that may include egg whites. After getting our receipt (which you need for the speakeasy entry code), we checked out the speakeasy portion, but the vibe there wasn't great either..pretty must the same as the other part of the bar. We ended up leaving within about five minutes. Overall, the experience didn't live up to the hype for us....between the noise, long wait times, and how we were treated, it just wasn't enjoyable. For comparison, the bar next door, Archibald, felt much more welcoming. Maybe regulars have a different experience, but as first-time guests, we were not impressed.
