This is a great little bakery located in Historic Avondale. My kids like to get treats here and then go across the street to the library which is also very cool. They have all kinds of concha's, empanadas, etc. I really like the caramel coconut and pumpkin empanadas. A lot of their pastries are of course sweet, but not overly so which I love. The cakes also look beautiful, but I have not ordered one yet. read more

I was looking for a bakery to order a specialty cake for a birthday dinner and found Mi Panaderia on Yelp. It is in a small old town area of Avondale but, in a new building. The employees were helpful in selecting the cake I needed. It smelled so good and all the sweets were presented deliciously in the bakery cases I decided to buy Mexican sweet breads on this trip. All that we tried was fresh, soft and sweet. They had my cake ready when expected without any issues and it was presented beyond my expectations. I was looking for a last minute birthday cake for my child and Mi Panadería did a great job. Though they couldn't do a certain edible image because of copyright, they worked with me to make a cake my kid absolutely loved. We got a marble cake with strawberry filling. Everyone at the party said it was delicious, even the people who don't normally eat cake had a piece and said it was amazing. Their pan dulce is great as well. So we came upon this place when we were eating next door and were not happy with the quality of the food. It was our first time. we came to the bakery and purchased champurrado, pan dulce, and jalapeño and queso pan. The pan dulce was sweet, fluffy and fresh. The champurrado was sweet but not to sweet and great consistency for sipping. The jalapeño and cheese pan was fantastic. So good the point that we purchased 8 of them to take home. Since our initial visit, I have stopped at least 2 additional times in order to purchase the jalapeño and cheese pan to take home to family. When I'm in Arizona a or I have a friend or coworker going to Arizona, I recommend them stopping there and trying the jalapeño and cheese pan. read more

I came to this panaderia to order my daughter's birthday cake, and I was really excited to try out this bakery because I'm new to the area and I love supporting small businesses. Ordering the cake was very easy and they were really accommodating, I paid for the cake in full, and we agreed that I'd pick up the cake at noon the day of the party. Come the day of the party, I get a call about one hour before my scheduled time to pick up the cake from the bakery saying I need to come pick up the cake now because they sold all their pastries and they are closing. As a mother of two young babies, I felt this was very inconsiderate of them to do because I cannot just easily drop what I'm doing and we agreed to a time before hand. I told them I would be there within thirty minutes and the lady on the phone groaned.... It was so off putting but I did what I needed to do and got to the bakery as soon as I could. Upon arrival, the younger lady laughed and said something along the lines of I looked rushed?? Then she pointed to at least 2 dozen worth of pastries behind me and said, "Look, that is all we have left." I was taken aback by all this. Anyways, I picked up the cake which looked decent and went home. The cake tasted dry and was just overall mediocre. Maybe their pastries are better but I don't know if I care to give them anymore business. read more

Came in today to try it out and left disgusted. I walked in with my cousin looking to pick up some pan dulce. The place looked relatively clean, but the lady working was unaware that while she had a conversation with a client, there was a line waiting to pay. As she finished taking the order for a cake, she moved on to the next client. But before she starts, she uses her hand to cover her coughing. A full on cough into left hand, then she does it again. The disgusting part was that she didn't wash her hands, continued to open a paper bag and place the customers items into the bag. With those dirty hands, she grabs 3 plastic sheets to individually wrap 3 somewhat moist items and place it into the bag. That is completely disgusting and dirty! Oh and she handled the last transaction, by grabbing money and still not washing her hands. I left what I wanted on the tray and walked out. That was one of the nastiest places I've ever seen. This place is nasty and disgusting. Will definitely not recommend this place to anyone. I'd give it 0 stars if it was an option. read more

Ordered two cakes, one for Friday and other for Saturday. Picked up Friday's, gVe the lady my recipe, she took it. We were all so happy it was delicious. However, Saturday's cake, I show up to pick up , show them my receipt and this new employee says "someone already picked it up" I was so confused, I still had my receipt and no one else was going to pick it up. The employee had given my cake to someone else, only because the cake had the same decoration! I was so upset and confused. I had to speak to the manager over the phone and she didn't even apologize and she even said "I'm not gonna argue with you". They insisted I take the cake once it was returned, of course I refused because that's not ok. I was really looking forward to another cake, I will not be returning to this place. read more
