Worst restaurant experience I have ever had, and I don't say that lightly! Waitress was horribly rude...kept purposely misunderstanding my need to use a coupon. Caused a scene in the lobby when I tried to pay with the coupon; called her manager over and tried to make it look like I was being difficult. She spoke about me to the manager -in front of me- not realizing that I understood Spanish. She also apparently didn't realize I caught her rudely rolling her eyes at me. Horrible! I've never felt like a criminal for using a coupon before! Food was equally awful; tasted like it had been frozen & nuked and had a very unpleasant aftertaste. Smelled like dried dog food. Since I tried to use the coupon AFTER we ordered, I do not believe this calamity was due to waitress payback. The food was just that awful, period. This is the first time with this restaurant and I am so upset with them. My order was supposed to be ready at 4:26 pm but when I got there I am told it was not ready. It is ok to wait. It is understandable that it was mothers day. But I had to wait 1 hour. My order was handed in at 5:22 pm. There was an apology of course with tapping on my shoulder. I understand that too but I was expecting an explanation because everybody got their order but me, even the people who came after me. Not only my order was late for an hour but the order was not accurate either. Anyways:( I had tipped %15 when I ordered online upfront, but I would not if I knew this was going to happen. Our party was had a reservation at Mi Pueblo for the back room at 7pm. They made us wait well over an hour to be seated. They then tried to seat us in a corner of the restaurant instead of the room that was booked. Of course, only half of us fit and we had to wait another 45min to be moved to the room that was originally reserved. By now, everyone was starving... Finally around 9:30 we were able to order our food. By then I would have eaten a steamed gym sock, and my burrito tasted about the same. Our server was cool, one guy for the whole room (30+)... the Mariachis were ok, and the birthday cake and shot presentation was fun, so that earned them a star. Next time, Mi Pueblito! read more

If I could rate them lower than one I would. I have been here three times since the change over, mainly because my four year old thinks the place looks like a castle so he loves it. The service is close to the worst I have ever had, and more than once. We tried to go enjoy their happy hour and both times it took 2 passes of a waiter(ress) for us to get service. Kids jumping all over because they couldn't even bring us chips and salsa for 10 minutes when others seated after us had gotten drinks, chips & salsa, and ordered. It is overpriced and under flavored. Thought it was maybe because we have three small ones but then I went back to try out the free appetizers during happy hour with an adult friend. Same exact behavior. Had to practically verbally tackle a waiter to get a drink and the free appetizers were alright but I had to ask about them, they were never offered. NO explanation of drink specials or anything. We probably could have each had a couple drinks if we were served but they just couldn't be bothered, and the restaurant wasn't even busy. When we got up to leave there was one waiter sitting down with his friends in the bar, 2 waiters and a hostess hanging out in the lobby area. Guess they don't want any one to come back. From what I hear from others that have dinned here recently this is the norm not the exception. This restaurant would be the perfect candidate for one of those restaurant failure shows like Restaurant Steak Out. Don't bother, just go around the corner to the good Mexican restaurant that has good service, good food, and good prices. read more

We wanted a nice, sit-down Mexican restaurant with decent food and drinks and a homey, festive atmosphere. This place fit the bill. The chips and salsa were good. My chimichanga was delicious - served with generous helpings of rice and beans with sour cream, guacamole, and cheese on top. My margarita on the rocks was perfect. Mi Pueblo holds a special little place in my heart. This place has easily the best happy hour in Rohnert Park/Cotati. Margaritas are 3 dollars, draft beers are like 2.50, and appetizers are either a dollar or two. This equates to 2 people being able to have one helluva time for less than you would normally spend for like 4 margaritas at another bar. Taco Tuesday is the best day to hit it up because then you get 3 dollar margaritas and 1 dollar street-style tacos that are pretty good. Their other food is tasty, but I have had better. I always forget to ask them not to put their somewhat bland red sauce on my burritos, but I really should have learned after the first couple times. Their fish tacos are massive and can easily be made into two tacos. The piece of fish was huge and taste really nice and fresh. The salsa bar is also quite awesome and I really enjoy the orange type of salsa that has a nice amount of spice to it. There are tons of options for salsa and plenty of warm (clutch) chips to accompany. If it were based on food alone, I might give it like 3.5 stars, but their happy hour is just so damn good that 4 is in the cards. I recommend going on a nice, sunny day and then you can enjoy the patio and sunshine while getting loose. read more

I went back to Mi Pueblo's last night for dinner. This time the service wasn't as good. The food was still good though! I didnt get the enchiladas as I wanted. Instead I had a super burrito with pastor. Very good. Even though I can understand why some people say the food is bland, I disagree. It's more like the food is just not loaded with salt. I try to stay away from salt as much as possible and their food is just less salty then most Mexican restaurants. This time around Mi Pueblo gained a star for consistency in good food but lost the star for not to good of service from our waitress. read more

Not sure if it's just this particular location, or if there has been a recipe change for all locations, but the carne asada burritos used to be AMAZING, the last few times I've been there (Cotati location), the carne asada is bland and flavorless. It's almost as if they don't season or marinade the steak anymore. Maybe it's a lower quality supplier? I assume the carne asada is the same if you order nachos, tacos, etc.... It sucks because now I have to order chicken (chicken has always been good). Mi Pueblo - is it this location only or have you changed your recipe? Dined here the other night with a friend and would say the food was pretty good. We split an chili relleno, on chicken enchilada and an order of mix beef and chicken fajitas. Fajitas were really yummy along with the roasted veggies. The chili relleno was a little soggy for my liking, but the chicken enchilada was pretty good as well. I had to take away a star tonight. Just came back from taco Tuesday, and after receiving the bill, we found that they raised the price of their 'side of rice and beans' to $5.00!!! Honestly, that price is shocking for the small portions of rice and beans we recieved. It used to be $3.75, and I would say that price was spot on, considering that rice and beans are two of the worlds cheapest foods. This used to be one of my favorite things at Mi Pueblo- now I won't order them. I could have gotten five more tacos for that price! PS the 'taco Tuesday' tacos have also become quite a bit smaller as of late. Still tasty, but you have to order twice as many to get the same effect (fullness). read more

Went here for the first time today. Service was good & quick, but my meal was pretty darn average. Granted, I ordered a "healthy" enchilada that was a bit on the bland side, an issue that has nailed me at many restaurants--but that doesn't make it right. Chips and salsa were actually pretty good...I like the warm tortilla chips. Then they gave us a free dessert which was a sort of tortilla chip thing with chocolate and whipped cream. This is our favourite neighbourhood hangout. The food is excellent--fresh, hot and not overcooked. The staff is as friendly as you will find anywhere. And best of all you will not find better prices. This used to be my go to Mexican place when ever I was in town but my last experience here was not up to par. I've had many of dishes on their menu when I wasn't a vegetarian so maybe this is a little bias. I ordered a vegetariano mas burrito and it was super bland. The sautéed veggies tasted like they were steamed and then wrapped into a tortilla and no sour cream or guac was to be found! I used to frequent this restaurant when it was Las Guitarras. I liked coming and trying different tequilas and loved that the staff was fairly regular so you felt like you were being served by friends. When they were bought by Mi Pueblo, I was initially nervous. I feared that it would lose it's local dive feel and feel more sterile. I have to say, I am pleased with the changes. They made over the interior with fresh paint and re-did the entry to make it more conducive to milling around. It is a bonus that some of the staff is the same as well. I have yet to sit in the dining room as I always prefer to be at the bar because you get better service. Perhaps that is why my experience has been better than some other reviewers'. Their happy hour simply can't be beat. My friend and I went on a Tuesday where they have $1 tacos and each of us got an amazing chicken taco and a fantastic margarita for $6 total. Now, I have been to El Torito's taco Tuesday and will not go back if I have the choice to go to Mi Pueblo. Their tacos were huge, freshly made taco shells filled with delicious marinated shredded chicken. One was enough for me. Mmm. My mouth is watering thinking about it. They also have a fabulous chile verde plate that I would recommend you share with a friend. Always hits the spot on a gloomy day and fills you up. read more

We have eaten here once a month for the last ten years, and we order the same thing every time. My wife orders the shrimp enchiladas, and I order the trio plate of enchiladas, the best I have ever tasted, I prefer the cheese. Service is always prompt and efficient. Too good to be true I guess. We went here last week and pretty much everything that made the place cool - changed. 1) The two cool bartenders aren't there during happy hour. They were good company and always took good care of our group. 2) No more free tequila tasting or free apps!! WTF?! It wasn't like they were giving us full shots. The appetizers were also very small in portion but they were free, and that was what made it COOL. 3) The margaritas are made with cheap house tequila (instead of Milagro) and the only way that your drink will qualify for 'happy hour' is if you get the typical lime flavor. (no more strawberry :( +2 stars because the apps (at least last week) were only $1and that's still less than your typical happy hour would charge around here. -3 stars for you Mi Pueblo. I used to be able to come here have a snack and get a good buzz on for less than $15. *booooooo* Maybe the idea was to attempt in catching a few happy customers to spread some good words that would ramp up the flow of business. Tried for the first time since it was Las Guitarras which we knew the owners at. We had a fantastic experience tonight. I don't like spicy so when I ordered Shrimp Fajitas I asked the server for nothing spicy. She told me the only spicy in the fajitas would be the salsa and I asked for that to be left out. These fajitas were delicious! Very "tame", nice sliced mushrooms, lots of onions, bell peppers and plenty. The chips are good and the salsa served with them was mild enough for me. The service was impeccable. We were seated right away, never had to ask for drink refills, and this just happened to be the first night for a man in the lobby, Arturo who was playing a guitar and singing. He mixed it up nicely with some Spanish and English songs; very nice! All-in-all, we probably will not return to Mi Ranchito down the street which has been going down hill. read more

If I was starving and this was the only place open, I'd probably still bypass it and go for ramen noodles instead. It is sad when a gringa (me) raised in America can make better Mexican food than a Mexican restaurant with Mexican/hispanic cooks. I ordered the vegetarian enchilada, and added cheese to it. It was ok, but was just a corn tortilla with some steamed broccoli and cauliflower (not even grilled!), no peppers or onions, and an anemic amount of green sauce and cheese. The black beans on the side had a canned quality, and the rice, which is usually a favorite of mine in Mexican restaurants, was mushy and just average. Worse, my mom had a combo plate with a cheese enchilada, a chile relleno, with rice and refried beans. Presentation: D-minus. Taste: D-minus. The plate looked like a kitchen fairy just took a dump on it...beans and rice swimming in cheese and sauce, no distinction in any of the food. Gordon Ramsay and Robert Irvine would have a conniption fit. Now, taste: Awful. The beans were nothing special, and I already reviewed the rice. The MOST disappointing part of this plate was the Chile Relleno. The batter was mush - not light and fluffy. The sauce further mushified the batter. And...the cheese had an odd texture...and tasted of fish. It was inedible. Although the waitress offered to have the kitchen make a new one, we declined. However, without our asking, she did knock down the price of my mom's meal, and let the manager know about the off taste of the food. I've given this restaurant a couple tries, and I just won't go back. I'm wondering at those who say "this is the best I've ever had..." Are you people comparing it to Taco Bell? read more

Really great Mexican food at really good prices. I was here on a Saturday night, Cinco de Mayo, actually, to grab my standard metric for which I judge all Mexican restaurants (carne asada super burrito). I ordered it for takeout. I was impressed by the low price, but even more impressed at the size of this burrito. Wow, was it massive for the low cost. Also included really good chips and salsa. Even though I called it in, and they said it would be ready in 10 minutes, I still had to wait a good 5-10 minutes after I arrived to pick up my food. The burrito was filled to the brim with the standard Super Burrito accoutrements. The steak was well marinaded and seasoned. The guacamole was flavorful and not like a liquid. The rice could have used a bit more flavor, but it was still good. Wish they would have asked me what kind of beans I wanted. It came with Pinto, but I would have gotten Black. I'll ask the next time. The burrito wasn't spicy at all, so I added salsa/sauce. The Mi Pueblo restaurants are my new favorite! read more

Great Mexican food! Great prices! I've never eaten in the restaurant, always ordered out. However when I go to pick up the scene is always lively. The chips come hot, which I love at a Mexican joint, and the salsa is very flavorful. I love their shredded chicken for burritos, tacos, enchiladas etc. Perfectly shredded and flavored, it melts in your mouth. Never had any problems with the service, they have always been accommodating, friendly, and quick. Definitely recommend!! read more

I was excited to see Mi Pueblo take over this location, as I love the Petaluma location of Mi Pueblo. Unfortunately, I have not been as impressed. The food is good, not great but good for the price. The staff, some are friendly and seem to be sincere but some ignore you and others cross the line from friendly service to being "hoochy". My boyfriend and I have gone there a few times, mostly because of the location. But ever since our last visit we have not returned. The waitress kept hitting on him, even though he very nicely declined her passes and made it very clear that he was with me and I am his girlfriend. She practicly sat at the table, more so tried to sit on his lap, reach out to touch his watch and kept making passes at him. The great thing for me is that he didn't leave her a tip. So Ms. hoochy waitress if you are reading this remember you have to keep the girlfriend happy and throwing yourself at her boyfriend isn't going to get you anything! read more

I've been eating at the Mi Pueblo in Petaluma for a couple of years now. I was introduced to Mi Pueblo by my brother and his family, who eat there quite often. I have visited the Cotati location 3 times since they opened. The first time I got take out of my favorite item - Burrito con Mole with shredded chicken. It was just as delicious as the ones I have gotten in Petaluma. Mi Pueblo seems to be one of the few places I can find mole on the menu. And their burritos really are the largest I've found around the Rohnert Park/Cotati area. I cut them in half and make two meals out of it. I made a second visit with my husband. I don't remember what I ordered (probably the burrito con mole), but my husband ordered the fajitas and he enjoyed them. I enjoyed his leftovers the next day. Our service was fine, as they brought us more chips and we had enough water. The third trip I made with my sister in mid-December. We were seated quickly, our order was taken as soon as we were ready, and the food arrived almost too fast since we were visiting, but I'd rather get my food fast than slow. My sister ordered the sopes and she liked them as well as the ones she gets in Ukiah. She has also eaten at the Petaluma location several times and she had no complaints. I ordered a taco and enchilada platter. It was delicious as well. The straight booths are a bit uncomfortable for larger folks, but these were the booths that came with the joint. Maybe they'll replace them if they get enough complaints? We had a curved booth on the second visit and it was much more comfortable than the straight booth.
