I would give this place 4 and a half if I could!! It was mostly lacking in parking and communication between the parking attendants and massage parlor. The massage place is in a condominium building and the parking attendant just gave us a ticket then told us to park in a yellow guest spot, without saying much or anything. Weeelll the first floor with the most guest parking, was packed and further into the garage, there was maybe only 3-4 yellow guest spots that we could see. I didn't know until I read on yelp that we were supposed to tell the parking attendant we were there for Mia Thai Massage so we could have $2 parking. We drove downstairs, told the attendant there was no available spots and that we were there for the massage place. He asked us how long we were going to be there for and told us to ask the front desk if it was ok to park by the wall down there. When i went into the front area, the lady said I could park in a handicapped yellow guest spot? But then the other lady (who was fairly rude/standoffish) told me that the massage place should've told us a specific spot/number to park at. When I did call, they gave us a designated spot to park at. Also, had to check yelp what floor the massage place was on. The staff were very friendly and helped us with the parking ticket situation. They validated the ticket and we ended up only paying $2 as we were leaving. They also honored the Groupon that I got. The massage was a 100/10 and loved the decor they had set up. I was a little disappointed in the service of this place since the reviews were high. Pros: The booking process was easy. It was also easy to change your booking the morning of the appointment. They send you a text message with specific instructions on parking and how to get to the establishment. Cons: When booking ahead of time, it booked it in PST instead of Hawaii time, which is why I had to call to reschedule. They kept trying up sale me during the massage, which doesn't make it relaxing. It was $10 extra for everything. $10 extra to use medicinal ointment during the massage, which i think should just come with the massage, especially because they are only using half a tablespoon on you. Lastly, when I told them how much I wanted to tip, they asked me to double it because they massaged with hard pressure, even though that's what you'd expect with a Thai massage. I don't like that they tried to pressure how much I should tip. Additionally, I had asked to focus on my shoulders since that is what the description said and that wasn't done. It is way cheaper to just buy directly through Mia Thai Massage rather than Groupon so I'll do that next time. We had Lan and Li Li and they were the best!! What made our experience the most valuable was that they tailored our massages to our preferences! My husband can handle, but I get ticklish in certain areas and my masseuse was very strong, but she was completely aware of the areas I was sensitive in and always readjusted to my liking without me asking. From the moment we walked in, they made us feel comfortable and took us in so easily! I saw some reviews complaining about their masseuse going on top of them while they worked, but I actually really appreciated their efforts because they put their body weights into it! The place is in some kind of condo. The room didn't feel clean or nice. Had cheap linens or blanket on the massage table. The room had a strange odor. Not my usual place to go for massage and I felt quite uncomfortably in the room but since I was here already I decided to give a try. Well... Massage was average. I asked for stronger pressure few times and it didn't improve. Massage ended 10 minutes shorter than what I have booked for. The most ridiculous thing was the tip. Tip is voluntary and the amount is based on how I feel about the service provided. I paid 20% which I thought more than generous based on overall experience and masseuse demanded more. Just left Mia Thai with the worst customer service experience I've ever had. I booked a couples massage and asked for a strong masseuse for my boyfriend. But once we got started the lady working on me was so unbelievably rough I asked multiple times to go easier but she continued to be extremely rough. The massage was so painful I'm very sore after. When I went to pay (with a gift card and credit card) she demanded me tip her a certain amount. I said no, I have cash, and she got angry. I went to sign the credit receipt on the square machine and she slapped my hand away. I was in shock. She was yelling and being so rude I handed her cash tip and asked to leave. She slammed it down and told me to get out! I've worked in service insiders for over a decade and could never imagine treating a customer this way. Called the day before to inquire about how to book via Groupon, was told to skip Groupon and they offered the Couple's Massage (90-minutes including hot stone) for $180. Was very quick and easy to make an appointment. Paid parking in the garage (I forgot to ask if they validate parking so had to pay $12 when leaving), the spa is located on the 34th floor (on the left after exiting the elevator - make sure to ring the doorbell as the door is locked). Massage itself was very thorough and we were both satisfied - very good pressure and they worked through a lot of knots. The hot stones were perfect! Was very nervous and hesitant because of other reviews mentioning "bullying" over tipping, but we actually did not experience that at all. Staff were extremely friendly and professional, we paid via card and tipped 20% via cash and were thanked without any problems and were out the door feeling very refreshed and relaxed. The location is on the 34th and easy to find. I was taken in right away and was lucky to get Rick. I asked for firm pressure and I got it! I requested Thai style massage and I was not expecting to get literally folded in half. It was very strenuous but my body felt fantastic afterwards. I had purchased an hour massage and they did not short me any minutes, which I am so happy about since a lot of places will only massage for 45-50 minutes even if you purchase an hour.
