After seeing all the reviews for the cold noodle, I decided to try it with rice noodles, a side order of their delicious beef which reminds me of Mian and Bao's beef, a marinated egg, and their spicy fungus. Would definitely order again. Their egg was perfectly cooked, nice and jammy in the middle. It was a lot of food that reheated well the next day. I found it to be spicy in the sense of warming, and flavorful but not searing off your mouth. Definitely get this with their mung bean soup. It is cold, sweet, and refreshing. My mom was really craving a nice bowl of Chinese style noodles and have been talking my ear off about it, so when we got the chance to go out, I recommended to visit Mian. My younger brother has visited this spot several times and always raves about how solid their noodles are. This spot looks unseeming on the outside but is very nicely culturally decorated within. I forgot to take any pictures but I really liked the decorations they had within. The place has less human interaction than typical restaurants. You seat yourself upon arrival and then scan a QR code to order your meal. They then serve you water, the dishware, and food once its ready. My mom got the tomato beef stew noodles and I got the house beef noodles. We also got the house pancake beef rolls to share (but I almost ate the whole thing). The pancake was so good, the crispy pancake had the best texture ever (similar to scallion pancakes) and the beef and sauce was good. I would say it was a little less substantial than I would've liked, very minimal pieces of beef and cucumbers. 8.6/10, would've been 10/10 if there was just a bit more "stuff" within the pancake. My mom liked her tomato beef soup, it had a nice acidity & tang to it from the tomatoes and it was slightly spicy as well. I really liked my house beef noodles, it was super flavorful and had the perfect amount of slight spice. Very hearty and the noodles were also perfectly bouncy. I usually walk in, scan the QR code on the table and order my chili dumplings, cold Sichuan noodles and mung bean drink. I was able to try the beef roll this time and the hot sour spicy soup. House beef noodle soup: we ordered it regular spicy, with their homemade noodles with an extra free side of noodles! The beef in this soup was braised so beautifully that it was falling apart. The first couple of sips of the soup was a tad bit spicy but that spice becomes addicting after a few bites. Chili oil wontons: Be sure to mix this dish up well, with all of the chili oil sauce at the bottom of the bowl-- it's best when you can get a nice even coating of sauce. Soup dumplings (Xiao Long Bao): I don't think Mian is known for their Xiao Long Bao-- and XLB is one of those things that takes a lot of finesse to do well. It was okay but really on par with a good frozen microwavable XLB. Beef pancake rolls: one of my favorite bites of the whole meal! Scallion pancake rolled up with marinated beef, cucumbers and salty sweet sauce. Highly recommend! Parking can be a bit tough here, there's a small lot attached that fills up quickly. All the ordering and paying is done online, and as a result, they don't hire enough staff. When we went it was extremely busy with people waiting and only one busboy. He was filling waters, taking orders to tables, helping older people check out, giving out takeout containers, and wiping down tables - it was way too much for one person! One couple even came in, was confused because there was no one to direct them to a table, sat down, and got up and left after about two minutes because no one helped them. A genuinely good option for noodles! This restaurant is located on the first floor of a plaza on Cedar and Rycroft Street. Parking can be a bit difficult -- there are a handful of spots in the private lot for the plaza (first hour is free) and some street parking if you're able to nab a spot. If you speak Chinese, you'll probably get the attention of the servers more quickly, but otherwise you might have to go to the front counter to get seated since the staff is sometimes in the back. You place an order on your phone by scanning the QR code at the table and browsing the menu there. I got the house beef noodle soup, chili oil chao shou, and XLBs, which all came out promptly. The noodle soup was my favorite; the noodles were chewy and fresh, and the broth was tasty with a perfect level of spice (at the "little spicy" option)! The only downside was that the meat was a bit chewy/tough. The chili oil chao shou left a lot to be desired, as there wasn't any ginger/green onion/etc in the filling, so the pork flavor was a bit overpowering compared to the sauce. The XLBs were good; the wrapping was a bit too thick on the top for my tastes but overall it was pretty authentic. Would definitely come back to satisfy my noodle cravings! read more
