The service was incredibly slow and we had to flag down the waitress multiple times BUT it was during the pandemic and I'm sure they were short staffed so I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt. The margaritas were excellent but the tacos were only okay. We ordered fish tacos, steak, and ground beef. The fish tacos were the best because they were huge. My husband and I stopped for a visit for a late lunch recently. There were only two other tables occupied when we walked in and the service was just ok. Our waitress was kind of awkward in the sense that she wasn't really very friendly and when I asked for recommendations, they didn't seem very genuine, so that did not help my decision making. I tried the jalapeña margarita and wow...so good. We also ordered the fresh guacamole (yumm) and they also served complimentary house salsa which was so perfect, not too hot, but very flavorful and perfect salsa texture for my liking. Unfortunately drinks and appetizers do not make a meal, though had we stopped there, they most likely would've had a better review. The main entree was quite disappointing for both my husband and I and honestly based on that, I don't think we'll be stopping back in. I tried one of the chicken tacos on the menu that had a chipotle sauce, and my husband had steak tacos. Also, black beans were served as one of the sides and they looked like they had been plated five full minutes before the rest of the food as they looked like they were dried on the plate....not appetizing! read more

Mia's a cute, neighborhood, authentic Mexican restaurant. During the summer they have indoor and outdoor seating. We have eaten several times at Mia's and have not been disappointed. I had the chicken taco salad. The salad had alot of chicken, probably equivalent to at least a large sized chicken breast. The taco shell was airy and light and not greasy. I would have liked more lettuce, but really like the beans, guacamole, sour cream and cheese. My husband had the carne asada taco dinner. It consisted of three tacos, rice and beans. The steak was seasoned, but not overly spicy, and each taco had a generous portion of steak . My daughter had the pollo costeno. Three chicken tacos with a chipotle cream sauce. My boyfriend and I came here for lunch and we were both blown away by the amazing food and friendly service. The place is super clean and inviting with indoor/outdoor seating options! The Mango Frozen margarita and the Pinarita were amazing, as well as the Chicken Tinga Flautas and Tacos norteños. The servers were really friendly, attentive and accommodating, we'll for sure be back!!!! I am new to Chicago and just moved to Mount Prospect from the Birmingham AL. area in June. I found Mia's Cantina just by driving by and it caught my attention. First because I like Mexican Food and second I was hungry! The restaurant has a great vibe to it and it is a very relaxing atmosphere. The first person to wait on me was Erica. She was very warm and welcoming but I noticed she is also a very hard worker. She takes service seriously and she is very gracious. The other waiter a man is also a fine waiter as well he is very focused and wants to provide the best service possible. I have always felt good after eating there. Freaking amazing place. I travel six states for business, and go to Mexican restaurants everywhere. This is a Top-5 Mexican dining experience. Salsa so good you'll want to do what I did, and buy a container to take with you. (If only they shipped to Indianapolis, where I live.). This place is the perfect example of a downtown location trying to appeal to folks with too much money. We spent $50 between 2 of us and didn't even order any alcohol, I received the smallest birria tacos I've ever had in my life along with LITERALLY 3 spoonfuls of rice and beans. The birria tacos hardly had any meat on them too and the tortillas were the size of my palm. This place needs to reevaluate their prices and portions. I come here because the chips and salsa are to die for! The food itself isn't great. The meat the first time I came was half burned and half raw. The second time I came back the food was okay but we finished our sodas before the food even came out it took forever and we were the only ones here! Afterwards the server never came back. We were in the area and stumbled upon Mia's. Good thing we found it. Across from the Metra tracks with lots of street parking we found this quant little place. Wonderful chips and guacamole. Light and air (didn't taste them because I'm giving them up) but my friends finished two baskets of them oooing and ahhhing. I nearly broke down to take some. I had the chicken fajitas and was very happy w my selection. Delicious. I wanted to finish it all but resisted to take th he rest in a box. We had a glass of sangria and wine ($5 wine on Thursdays) and a pitcher of margaritas. We though the pitcher was for two people but easily we could have split it amongst four of us. Too bad tho. Delicious as it was, we couldn't finish it. That made me sad. Oh well. Next time I'm getting a glass and calling it a day. Mia's is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the northwest suburbs. The restaurant is small but colorful and can handle larger crowds in the warmer months thanks to some outside sidewalk seating. Everything we've had has been tasty. If you're a vegetarian I highly recommend their veggie tacos. They offer options you won't find at other restaurants in the suburbs. While you're there try the basic margarita. It goes down easy but they don't skimp on the tequila. read more

Sigh. I thought the food would be much better here. I went here and had a few good things, but it wasn't super amazing. First off, the ambiance is great. It's a cute little restaurant, clean and tiny. It's suggested you make a reservation, otherwise you might be stuck waiting. We ordered Cadillac Margaritas and they were fabulous (duh, it's a margarita). We then ordered a ceviche appetizer. It's shrimp ceviche, so it wasn't fantastic as I had hoped. A real ceviche would have better fish. It was good for someone who has never tried it before. My spouse had ordered enchiladas and he was very satisfied with his meal. It looked beautiful and was a hefty portion. I had the Sincronizada, it was recommended by the server. He said it's like a grilled cheese but with a tostada. It was covered in a red sauce which tasted like marinara. I felt like it was too acidic and tasted too much like a spaghetti sauce. It was also very cheesy (hence the comparison to grilled cheese). I liked it, but not that much because of the marinara taste I had every time I took a bite. It was overpowering. We saw someone order a fried ice cream and the portion was huge! We decided to go for tres leches instead. I can't say I was impressed. It wasn't as moist as normal tres leches and didn't have quite the milkiness I was hoping for. This was our first time here. Food was great, the service was not. We waited way too long for someone to come by and take our order. Long story short...we were starving and nearly walked out. Our server was nowhere to be found and finally we flagged down a different waitress to get our order in. It looked like they were short staffed but there weren't a lot of people seated when we came in - many were empty. After about 30 mins, we received our appetizer. Great local restaurant. We come here every week on the bikes with my husband. My fav is sopa azteca. My husband got chicken fajitas and they were great. During rush hours you can wait for food little longer, but the staff is always making sure you have water and chips while you wait. read more

Did I miss something? We ate here based on the reviews. If I could give no stars, I would. My no star review matches the taste of the food, none! I had the veggies burrito, it was basically a huge tortilla wrapped in a teaspoon of canned mixed veggies with some lettuce. My husband had the chicken burrito, it had some tasteless chicken and some lettuce. No cheese, no beans, no rice and no anything. Our 2 meals together wouldn't be enough food to feed a 2 year old child. $11 for a house margarita again no flavor, no booze. We are still hungry. Don't waste your time or money. read more

We visit Chicago every Labor Day and are always searching for great Mexican food but always seem to come up short. We found ourselves outside the city for a day trip and asked some locals where to find good Mexican food. We sat outside on a warm summer evening and had EXCELLENT food, drinks and service and this little corner spot. We had several items off the menu and all were fresh and amazing. My coworker and I were passing thru the area and stopped here for a late dinner. The location is ideal in the cute downtown area. This is not your traditional mexican restaurant. It definitely has a more modern flair and has a unique menu with a lot of different items on it - including many vegetarian and gluten-free items. I really enjoyed the complimentary salsa. The chips are quite different though - almost fried? I liked them but my co-worker did not. Service was friendly and efficient and our food arrived in a timely manner. Our dinner was tasty but not anything spectacular. The only negative comment is that the Mexican music was very loud & on the verge of annoying. I have never been a fan of Mexican food. It happened to be too spicy for me and has way more cilantro than I can tolerate; however, (behold) I went to two Mexican restaurants in 3 days (which is a record in the KK book). I am now a little bit better with spicy food. But i still cant stand cilantro. Anyway, I loved both of them. I am starting to wonder what other possibilies there are out there that I am missing out because I am a stubborn weirdo. My friend suggested Mia's Cantina. I pass this place all the time when I go to Sam's place (one of my faves in MP). Its practically a block away and I was oblivious to this gem. The place isn't really big but it has a prefect atmosphere for a date or a fun lunch with friends. We sat at the bar and the bartender greeted us right away. My phone was dying and he was nice enough to charge it while I was on the bar. That made it possible for me to be able to use my phone and take these really bad pics (forgive me for there was no flash due to the lack of battery). The moment you sat down they serve you chips and salsa. I loved the salsa. It wasn't very spicy but it had enough kick to make you want more. We weren't very hungry so I got the ceviche and my friend got the azteca soupa. Both were amazing. Sharing is caring right? Well we traded our foods to try them out. I want to go back and try their fajitas and tacos. Now the best part about this place. Their margaritas! Holly amazing margaritas!!! I had the guava one.
