Worst company ever. Please save your self the trouble, time and your hard earned money. Call anyone but Michael and Son. This is how the nightmare with them started; I needed to change the air filter of my HVAC and wasen't sure where it was located. I had scheduled a diagnostic inspection with another company who was not free to come out immediately so after caling a few other smaller but also very busy companies who coudnt come out on my schedule, I ended up calling Michael & Son despite some really bad reviews on them. I thought all I needed was to change the air filter so it shouldn't really matter. They are a big name with a ton of scamming technicians always available so they came out right away. The technician named Charlie, seemed very friendly. Spent a whole deal of time inside the house then out. then sat in some more with me to just chat about this and that, trying to gain my trust. Finally after an unusually long polite chatter, he went out to perform his diagnostics inspection. Within 10 minutes he was back inside telling me that the evaporator coils needed to change but since the system was only 3 years old the part was under warranty. He said he needed to go to his van to draw up some estimates and would be right back to explain to me what needed to be done. he sat in his van for close to an hour and finally came back in with his iPad making me scroll through 3 different plans priced at 1. $2800 for the bare minimum of what needed to be done, 2) $3100 for replacing part plus silver maintainence plan and 3) $3600 for replacing the coil + gold care plan. When I looked stunned, he said don't worry you can finance it. He spent another 2 hours just trying to sell his gold plan to me and re-instating how important it was for me to replace the evaporator coils right away or it could lead to the compressor failure. Significantly alarmed and not knowing the technical stuff and after a lot of questioning about what the extras were he was selling to me and why those were needed he made me scroll up and down his Ipad a million times before arriving at a $2800 estimate thought I absolutely could not do without. Since the forms had a 3 day cancellation policy, I told him to go ahead. By now it was 12 noon. Charlie had come in at 9 a.m. At 12.00 charlie left to go buy the part (most likely he already had a replacement part in his van and just went to eat lunch) he came back at 1.p.m. and went straight to work in the crawl space. When i asked him if he could atleast show me where the filter was located which i had called him for in the first place he said you dont have to worry about it, we will change it for you as part of the gold plan. He then spent till 4 p.m. walking in and out of the house, starting off long conversations about his daughters and family and blah blah everytime he came indoors. In between all of this I had some other appointment and he continued to sit inside sayign take your time, while he sat and waited inside on my kitchen table. Little did I know at the time that i was litreally paying for this whole day that he had decided to spend at my house @ litreally a rate of $175 an hour which of course was not informed to me. At 4.00 p.m. when he was finally done and was stashing away the replaced parts in his van, i went out and asked him to show me the parts he had replaced and what was wrong with them. At this point, he saw my neighbor come out to her yard and started to engage her in a conversation which lasted another 20-30 minutes. Finally he showed me the evaporator coil lying covered under a cloth in his van. He showed me a very slight streak of rusting at one corner of the aluminium box. When I asked him where was this part damaged and if he could explain why he thought it was restricting air and needed to be replaced he said it was not damaged. Horrified, I asked him so why did you change it? he said because it was still under warranty and you might as well. I was like but you just charged me $2800 for changing a part under warranty that was not even damaged! I asked him if this rusting was on the part and the part was not under warranty would you have still changed it? He said no, in that case i would have just cleaned it up, but that takes time and since this is still under warranty so now you get a new shiny part. (Except I never ever saw that new shiny part). At this time all kind of red flags were setting off in my head. Yet, I thought let me see how the air conditioning is performing. Sure enough, the very next day the air conditioning stopped cooling. So I called Michael & Son again and they sent out another senior technician Allan to come inspect the issue. Apparently he had not been completely briefed on what had been done. So when he came in, I explained the issue to him and asked him what would he have done if he found a lower coil restricting air (which is what Charlie had indicated the issue was). I wanted to take a moment to recognize Gabriel with Michael & Son for an absolutely outstanding experience. Gabriel came out to our home for a complimentary electrical inspection, and I was genuinely impressed with the level of professionalism, thoroughness, and customer service he provided from beginning to end. Even though this was a complimentary inspection, Gabriel never treated it like a quick or routine visit. He took his time, was incredibly thorough, and approached the inspection with the same level of care and attention you would expect from a major service call. He carefully looked everything over, explained what he was checking and why, and took the time to answer our questions in a way that was easy to understand. What stood out to me most, however, was Gabriel himself. He is extremely personable, respectful, knowledgeable, and professional, but also very down-to-earth and easy to talk to. He never made us feel rushed, never talked over our heads, and never made the visit feel like a high-pressure sales opportunity. Instead, it felt like we had someone in our home who genuinely cared about our safety and wanted to make sure we understood the condition of our electrical system. That kind of customer service goes a long way with me. Gabriel was respectful of our home, patient with our questions, and extremely knowledgeable. His attention to detail and the pride he takes in his work were obvious. He represents exactly what you hope for when you invite a service professional into your home: honesty, integrity, professionalism, knowledge, and great character. The fact that Michael & Son offers a complimentary electrical inspection is great, but having someone like Gabriel perform it made the experience exceptional. Employees like him are what build trust between a customer and a company. Because of the way Gabriel handled our visit, I would feel completely comfortable calling Michael & Son again for future electrical needs and specifically requesting him. Gabriel absolutely deserves recognition for the way he represents Michael & Son. Five stars doesn't seem like enough -- 10/10 for customer service, professionalism, knowledge, character, and overall performance. Avoid Michael & Son Services: A Cautionary Tale I recently had an appalling experience with Michael & Son Plumbing that highlights why this company is no longer the reliable service provider it once was. Here's what happened: On January 17, 2025, a tenant reported that the tankless water heater in their unit had stopped working. The symptoms were clear: low water pressure and no hot water. Expecting a professional solution, I contacted Michael & Son, and they dispatched a technician later that day. I even received a glowing text message praising the technician's expertise and five-star service--setting expectations for a thorough and honest assessment. Unfortunately, the reality was far from professional. The technician called me shortly after arriving, claiming the system was too old (13 years) for them to service and needed to be replaced. He also stated that a new unit would require updated venting and additional roofing work. The estimate? A staggering $7,287.39. Shocked by this, I questioned the recommendation, as the unit had been serviced last year and was reported to be in excellent condition. After some research, I learned that the most common cause of the symptoms described was a clogged water filter--a simple fix. The next morning, I personally inspected the unit. It took me just 30 minutes to remove, rinse, and reinstall the water filter. Once cleaned, the water pressure returned, and the hot water was working perfectly. This is something a professional technician could have resolved in less than 10 minutes. I chose Michael & Son because I expected professional diagnostics and fair service. Instead, I was presented with an exorbitant and unnecessary estimate. Their attempt to upsell a costly replacement when the issue was a simple clog is unacceptable and feels like an attempt to take advantage of uninformed customers. I am now consulting with a lawyer to explore legal options, as such practices should not go unchecked. On their first visit Michael & Sons was here for about an hour. The technician was short with our questions, he didn't carefully evaluate the issue and didn't take any care moving his equipment through our home. The same technician was dispatched a second time. The technician called and said, "You know I'm just going to charge you more". His second visit lasted twenty minutes, he snaked the same drain and was very short with the questions we had and left. He was here for less than two hours in total and charged us $821.75 for an issue unresolved. I called Michael & Sons to solve an issue with my 1st floor ceiling leaking and water backing up through the shower drain on the second floor. Their diagnosis on 2/7/2019 was "main drain stopped up on second floor". Michael & Sons wrote: "pulled toilet on second floor master to clear stoppage. found due to normal use. sewer pipe is holding water. need to raise toilet flange above tile level to correct issue." We observed the same issue after using the upstairs bathrooms exclusively for liquid waste. On 2/11/2019 Michael & Sons came back out to try and resolve the same issue that wasn't resolved on their previous visit. I observed that the technician routed the drainage line again, through the same toilet. The technician was satisfied that he resolved the issue and attributed the reoccurrence of the issue to the toilet flange needing to be raised. We continued using the 2nd floor plumbing exclusively for liquid waste. A few days later we saw the same issue. Michael & Sons did not resolve our issue on their first or second visit. We contacted a second plumber to diagnose the issue. The second plumber assessed our issues thoroughly. They determined that there was still a blockage and that raising the toilet flange was not the cause of the issue. They then brought a snake and routed the second floor much more thoroughly, which resolved our issue. We have been using the second-floor plumbing, for liquid and solid waste, and have had no issues since. read more

This is my first review for Michael and Son, specifically for the work that Ryan and Edwin have been doing at my house. I am in the middle of a kitchen remodel after a flood that occurred because of a backed up sanitary drain. I have struggled to find a contractor because of all the recent hurricane damage so I am self-contracting this project (to paraphrase the old adage, he who serves as his own contractor has a fool for a client). I had a wide variety of electrical and plumbing needs and M&S really came in handy on numerous occasions. Both Edwin and Ryan arrived on time and have been supporting all of my electrical and plumbing needs throughout the project, with flexible schedules and great ideas when I hit an issue or a snag. They price everything in advance, with different options to choose from, so I can see what the costs will be. After I sign off on the work they promptly get to work and get it done - same day! I really admire tight and clean work. Both Edwin and Ryan ensure everything meets code, they get it all done on time, for the price we agreed on. To name just a few things, I have had a new gas line installed (upgrading the pressure) had plumbing and electrical moved after rough carpentry was done, installed and tested new breakers, installed new lighting, installed new plumbing, and they are now in the process of completing a convection microwave oven install, gas range and new dishwasher and sink drain install. I can't recommend M&S enough and if you get Ryan or Edwin as your technicians, you are definitely in good hands. Now - are they the cheapest in town - certainly not, but I am willing to pay a little more to ensure they arrive on time (on the days/times I need them to be there), do good quality work, clean up when they are done and keep this project moving. We were estimating we would be done right before Christmas. With the help of M&S, we will be done right after Thanksgiving. Worth every penny. read more

In the past two weeks we have had weather in the 90-101F range.. A recent power surge., playing havoc on my AC, as well as the circuit for my hot water heater. The power surge was strongly assumed, as the clocks in the house had gone out the day before , and needed to before. Michael And Son has knowledgeable, AC repairman, plumbers, and electricians. Consider the following: The AC Guy had to do some troubleshooting, as the electronics in the house were sending a signal to the AC unit outside, and the AC unit unit outside was able to receive a signal, but some of the wiring in between was messed up (assuming from the recent power surge). he was able to diagnose and make a quick repair. The plumber came the following day to check out the hot water heater. The hot water heater not working proved to be an electrical issue, as one coil was receiving the proper voltage, and the other coil was not receiving the proper voltage. This was validated with a meter. he referred me to an electrician. Consequently Electrician came on day 3. He was relatively quick at troubleshooting, as the two coils of the hot water heater were not receiving the same voltage, one the correct voltage, and the other a very low voltage. He was able to restore the proper voltage to both coils of the hot water heater. I requested a quote to install a surge protector. In the event of another power surge from the power company, the surge protector, diverts the extra electricity into the ground rather than going into my appliances. Michael & Son has very well trained and knowledgeable AC repair men, plumbers and electricians. They are Knowledgeable and ethical. I would certainly do business with them again and recommend them. read more

My downstairs toilet backed up, leaving about a half inch of standing, filthy sewage in the bathroom and hallway. I called Michael & Son to have the plumbing looked at and repaired (thank you, Trey!). The resto team came in yesterday to take care of the water damage. Bub and Romie (aka The Dynamic Duo) contacted me to let me know they could arrive earlier than expected, which I happily accepted! From the moment I met Bub, I knew I was in good hands. He was friendly, outgoing and absolutely knows his stuff! He was able to answer all my questions and made sure I fully understood what was going on and what they needed to do. Bub was extremely respectful of my property did everything in his power to ensure my day had as little interruption as possible, as I work from home. Bub and Romie removed the damaged part of the walls and pulled up the floors. Because of the amount of moisture, they left a few dehumidifiers running (at least I think that's what they were called). I was initially concerned about what the smell would be like as everything was sanitized, but they used an organic pet-friendly treatment that smelled like a cross between lemon and pine. It was surprisingly pleasant and not off-putting at all. The Dynamic Duo left the dehumidifiers running overnight, much to the dismay of my cats (lol). They are coming back today to check on everything and then hopefully we will be able to proceed to the next step in the process which I hope will involve restoring the state of the bathroom and floors. All too often the only time customers comment on a job is to relay disappointment. Well, this certainly is not a complaint letter. Brice and Camron came to clean the ducts in my townhouse yesterday, Dec. 2, 2015. Upon their arrival, they immediately placed booties over their shoes to protect my floors and placed drop cloths down to keep the work areas tidy. Brice provided a detailed description of the how the duct cleaning process would proceed. In addition, I was made aware of the noise the machine would make thorough the duration of the cleaning process. I was asked if I had any questions before they began their work. Both Brice and Camron were professional and did a great job! The duct cleaning only took 45 minutes, for which I was extremely happy. Brice recommended two filter options for me to think about in the future...16"x20"Honeywell Filters (7 rating and up) for better efficiency and month-to-month changing or a washable filter offered through Michael and Son, Inc. for superior air quality. I am happy to know that the filter options are an available option in the future. In addition, I appreciated the information he provided. This was not part of the job, but Brice noticed that the door panel to my air handler room needed to be reattached. He kindly reattached the door panel with a couple of screw and now the door opens without the panel peeling away from the hollow door. This was above and beyond! We rarely write reviews, but this company gets customer service at a level far beyond any of the competition and it's a pleasure to comment here. We needed two minor electrical repairs in our wonderful 80+ year old home and called Michael and Son on the recommendation of a friend. From the instant we called, everyone we dealt with was well spoken, listened carefully to our needs, efficiently scheduled the service visit, and communicated perfectly. They have a highly professional process, quickly and accurately scheduled the visit, actually showed up on-time as promised, and followed up before and after the service call. There even send a picture and biography of the service rep so you'll know who you'll be dealing with. Hugo, our electrician, did an outstanding job. He was highly professional, knew his craft, was careful to keep the work space clean, and accurately described what work was needed. Being an old house, there were a couple of unforeseeable complications with routing a new circuit for an outlet, and Hugo quickly found a solution and got the job done on-time, on-budget, and right the first time. I never thought I'd live to see such a high level of professionalism and competency in the highly competitive trades/services market. The service we received from Michael and Son was excellent. Our rental house had no heat and the tenant was distraught. We checked the unit with troubleshooting information from the HVAC installer. Everything seem OK and we called Michael and Son to get an HVAC tech. Then the tenant mentioned that the outlets in the living room were not working. We decided that the problem might be electrical. When we called to cancel the HVAC tech, the receptionist very politely informed us that they also could supply an electrician. The electrician, Joseph, checked the house and met with us. He gave us an education about the electrical problems in the house. A new breaker box was needed. An HVAC tech was also dispatched and he checked out the unit after the breaker box was installed and changed the filter (the old filter was extremely dirty). They set us up for a check of the HVAC system every six months for a year - no extra charge. This is a valuable service for our rental house as tenants sometimes neglect that duty. Joseph was professional, informative, and showed much discretion. He gave us an overview of the electrical condition of the house and suggestions for future repairs and changes. We received a 25.00 coupon to use for those future repairs. We were very satisfied with the service and will be employing Michael and Son for their expertise. Michael & Sons has been my go to company for many reasons. The prompt service they provide is very important to me. I've called mid day, not an emergency, and they have had a person come and assess the problem and take care of it that same day if at all possible. The quality of the work done has never been disappointing, from fixing the problem to cleaning up afterward. They stand by their work as well. I have not had any return issues but know they will return if necessary. Plumbing issues are not inexpensive. However, when done right the first time, their work is something you can count on for years which speaks volumes for the value of their service. I just had some issues, and they sent a service tech same day who addressed my situation, worked with me to solve these issues which needed some materials. He was back promptly for installation, worked to have it completed into the evening hours, even helped me with good value based decisions, and just went above and beyond my expectations for service work. Very professional and truly cared about solving these issues for me. I want to give Juan Castillo thanks for this awesome service experience and he will be my go to person in the future. I've had mediocre experience with (4) other companies and I don't know why we did not start with Michael & Son to begin with. We had service completed for our heating system in February, and recently, today for our air conditioning maintenance. Overall, Michael & Son's as a company, does a great job connecting with their customers. We received stellar service and the technicians are knowledgeable, helpful and kind to boot. Their prices are reasonable and their service is so thorough. From inspection to documentation, we have pictures and statements of how well our systems are doing and recommendations for improvement with different price points. The online booking system was easy and I enjoyed the way they text their customers about the technician who will visit and details of the service appointment. We were able to book an appointment with 7 days. I want to call out specifically, technician Kristopher Brown. He was so knowledgeable and answered every question my husband and I had about our air & heating systems. He was honest about our systems and even caught a manual still in its packaging for 6-7 years ago that was blocking our air intake! We have had multiple maintenance services on this system in the past by other companies since moving in, and he was the one to find it.
