I've been coming to Michael C's for the last three or four years with my son! My son was a young child getting glasses and Michael made it seamless and fun for him. He's very knowledgeable, kind and has a great selection of glasses for all ages. I live in Encino, which isn't far from the shop, but as we know, there are many different optical shops in the valley. I will only go to him and even got glasses for myself this last visit. He doesn't try to sell you anything you don't need or doesn't fit right and isn't pushy at all. Loved that Michael was so hands on. He nearly took all the glasses off his shelf while trying to find a pair of glasses for my daughter who's pretty picky, hehe, but he was able to find her a pair. He will also NOT sell a pair of lasses that don't fit your child's face properly, not like other optometrist shops I've visited who have tried to sell whatever she's picked, even if the lens's size didn't make sense for her. After my glasses frame got broken, I called the optometrist where I had gotten the glasses in the first place. I was advised the frame was no longer manufactured and that no other frame would work. I got the same story from three other optometrists. I then call Michael and he said almost certainly he could put the lenses in another frame. After I dropped off the lenses, he called back the next day and advised the job was finished. The new frames are perfect. The cost was very reasonable. If I need new glasses or glasses repair, I will absolutely go back to Michael C's Optical. read more

Came to see Michael to have our 3 year old fitted for glasses and I cannot say enough positive things about him! He made us feel comfortable while choosing frames and made the experience fun for our toddler. He helped pull frames that would fit best and let her try on a bunch of pairs, had a great selection, and offered a 2 year warranty on the frames. Michael C is a mensch!! My glass frames were broken and I tried a few spots, all shut me down. Especially the big frame place. Sunglass hut NO HELP, go to Lens Crafters. Lens crafters. Now way, you need to buy new glasses with a new lenses. $800 min. Michael went out of his way, got my same frames and popped in the old lenses which work perfectly. Saved me $600! I've been extremely pleased with the work Michael does. He changed the lens on two pair of oversized Fendi sunglasses, and they both turned out at least as nice as they were originally. Likely nicer. He also put Crizal blue light lenses into another frame which turned out great. I've learned that many blue light lenses are ineffective but this particular type (Crizal) actually does protect eyes from devices. My eyes seem more comfortable (less eye strain) during and after looking at my computer screen and cellphone. Michael is also a great person to work with as he's very kind with a fair and honest demeanor. He is. The. Best. Has the best selection of kid's glasses but also great adult too. We have been coming to him for a couple years for my daughter and I decided to get some frames for myself. I picked some out and after I went home and they were all set, I got negative feedback from my family! GO SEE MICHAEL!!! I had purchased new glasses pre-covid (elsewhere) and have hated them ever since. They were too big, kept slipping off, and most of the time unwearable. I went to see Michael, explained the dilemma i had with my glasses, he then took my glasses to a back room and worked his magic. I've been going her for probably 10 years to get glasses for me and my daughter. They have a good variety of frames for adults and kids and the prices are very reasonable. The service is always friendly, honest, knowledgeable and they always make sure we are satisfied. I ordered glasses a few days ago with a new prescription and was later told that the frames were delayed due to what seems to be a covid related supply chain issue. Michael got me temporary frames (same frames except different color) that I can use until the color I ordered arrives. Once the correct frames are in, he will switch out the lenses and I'll be on my way. I appreciate that Michael made sure I had lenses with my new prescription within just a few days and that he did not let a supply chain issue get in the way of excellent service. read more

I read the wonderful reviews on Yelp and thought this might be a great place to get glasses. Boy was I wrong! I called ahead and talked with Michael about discounts and two brands of glasses that I was interested in, but he was very short with me & unfriendly over the phone. Then I RUSHED to get to the shop (after I got off from work) but they had apparently CLOSED EARLY even though I was there 15 minutes prior to their advertised closing time of 6pm. Michael C's will not get a 2nd chance at my business & now I am also suspicious about all of those positive reviews! read more

Absolutely LOVE Michael C's. Highly recommended to me by a mom's group I'm in, and boy were they right. I was put off at first that there's no website, but it's just an old-fashioned shop where Michael greets you and takes care of you. He's wonderful with kids, has a great selection and, best of all, we go back as often as needed for free for repairs and adjustments - a big plus when dealing with glasses on a small child. Michael is simply the best! We needed glasses for our 18 month old and she wouldn't wear the Miraflex with the strap, which is all anyone else carries for babies and toddlers. Michael, though, has a great supply of options without straps and is so knowledgeable that we were able to find glasses that fit and were comfortable for her. He's great with kids and adults, and his warranty is great since kids are going to be hard on their glasses. My daughter loves her glasses and keeps them on! I have been taking my daughter here for her glasses for the past two years. The selection of kids glasses is very good, and Michael is excellent. The glasses are usually ready in a couple of days. Recently, my daughter was complaining she couldn't see and it hadn't been a full year since her last eye exam. We took her for another eye exam, and her prescription had changed significantly. She couldn't read the top line on the eye chart with her glasses on. Needless to say, I didn't want her to have to wait a week to get new lenses, and it was a holiday weekend. I went to Lens Crafters and they quoted me $300 just to change the lenses on her glasses. We called Michael after the holiday weekend, and he changed them the next day for a third of the price. Michael C's Optical is not only a great place for children eyewear, but also the best place to get adult prescription glasses in Los Angeles. This place has been in business for a very long time, run by Michael who is a wonderful person to work with and the prices are so reasonable! I used to get my son's glasses from him, when my son was just a little boy, but my son eventually moved to college and later to NYC to work, so he got glasses in other places, usually in NYC. Two weeks ago my son who is now 25 years old and attending law school in Boston, came home and had his yearly eye exam with the same Ophthalmologist he has been seen since he was little. To our surprise his prescription had changed (perhaps do to all that reading in law school), so knowing that he only had a few more days at home before going back to Boston, my husband started calling different places and they all said that it would take three to five days to get the lens changed. At this point I remember Michael C's and I'm so glad I did! Michael not only was able to change the lens on my son's glasses overnight, but the lens is absolutely the best quality. This was especially important for my son, since he does have a very strong prescription and these types of lenses unless they are done well and of the highest quality, they tend to look really bad.
