The manager here is very rude and does not know how to treat her customers. I am a customer for 5 years. Went to return a water color palette that was broken and chipped from the side. My daughter didn't properly check before purchasing. They did not take it back even when I asked for store credit. I would have expected them to stand behind their product. Not only was the manager extremely rude and condescending, she hinted that we are trying to return the item by cheating them. Never ever going back!!! read more

Great items. Nice classes. Coupons in the Sunday paper. Some of the folks that work there are rude & lazy. They don't like to answer questions or help you look for items. One example: "What is your return policy?" Response: "Read it, it's in the back of your receipt" (annoyed tone of voice, as if I'd asked a stupid question). Kudos to Eric in custom framing for customer service! My mom and I were shopping for poster frames. She asked him for his expert advice. He found an off-the-shelf option that complimented our drawings and met our budget. Mom pulled her little-old-lady-card by asking him to put the pictures in the frames for her. He did a beautiful job. He could have helped other customers waiting for custom framing but instead called a colleague to help and was incredible kind and helpful. I came into the store hoping to find what I need and the staff are really helpful the store may be out of shape but I believe this is not the end and they will fix this michaels up, not only helpful but the floor employees especially this young boy who helped me out...everytime I come in he's never in a bad mood,too bad I didn't get his name! Walked in on a Saturday with tons of folks getting their craft on. I understand shopping in stores is a thing of the past so I usually practice patience when I shop as I know staff is always short but seriously 2 employees on the floor and 2 at the register on a Saturday? I'm giving the 4 stars based on the service I got from Nathaniel in the frames section.... NOT on the store itself. I was told someone would help me in a few minutes so was happy I was acknowledged at all. Nathaniel was very attentive and gave me plenty of option for my piece. I was aware of the sale (which is what drew me into the store) but somethings you just can't order online and need a pros opinion. This was one of those times and Nathaniel didn't disappoint. I was very happy with the savings I received and felt it was worth coming in. Saved more than $300 on a double matted famed posted I have. This store is the biggest Michael's I've been to. Inside, everything is clean and organized (?). Yes, I did put a "?" after the word organized. I came here because I needed some candle wicks to make my own candles. I walked inside and proceeded to look for candles...thinking that it'll be near the candle section. Well, it's not! After strolling around for a few minutes, I decided to ask an employee for help. The lady was really friendly and told me to go to a certain aisle, which was on the other side of the store compared to the pre-made candles. I did find what I was looking for but it didn't make sense to me where the candle making items would be placed nowhere near the finished products. Check out was a breeze but the cashier who helped me, didn't seem too happy. Parking is plentiful as it share a huge lot with other nearby stores. If you're into diy stuff, this is the place to go to. read more

As an artist, student, and art teacher, I love shopping at Michaels. Their coupons and discounts are great. I have called in to this Michaels on several occasions to check if they carry a specific item and every time their service has been nothing but attentive and friendly. Shoutout to the art teacher at this Michaels! She saw me browsing in the fine arts painting aisle and offered to help me with any questions. Little did she know, I teach painting and drawing too! I was really excited that Michael's was near me, but I had a rather odd experience compared to the ones I usually have. I had a great time going around the store and picking things out although it felt a little disorganized. I ended up walking the entire store to make sure I didn't miss anything. Then at the cash register, the cashier told me one of my items was not buyable even though there were a bunch on the shelves. Okay, sure that's fine. There was no signal in the store, so I had to step outside to pull up a coupon. In the end, spent ~$200 and was ready to leave. But turns out you can't take the carts outside the store. The whole point of a cart is to get large items so you can carry them throughout the store and to your car...so it was very confusing. I ended up having to walk to my car THREE times. Not worth the hassle of having to deal with all of this. I usually have such a smooth interaction at Michael's but not at this location. Not returning unfortunately. I came here because I had a coupon for 60% off custom framing and I've been waiting something like 8 years to get a photo framed. I walked straight to the framing counter in the back and a young man named Mitchell helped me quickly. He suggested an even cheaper alternative to framing and he let me try out lots of options. He had good suggestions and was extremely helpful. I WAS SO PLEEEEASED!!!!! Literally one of the best purchases of my life. What up Mitchell. I love you. I love Michael's. They carry the odds and ends of crafting. If I need to find a gift for someone, a very specific gift, I go to Michael's and they usually have it. BUT THIS MICHAEL'S IS A NO. Go to Union City, go to San Leandro. Purely based on service. I rate large chains based on service because their products do not differ from store to store. And the service I experienced here was absolutely horrible. I went to Union City Michael's in search of a display. Unfortunately they were sold out but the man helping me graciously searched for any not yet stocked and called around to different Michael's until he found some in stock in Fremont. So off I went to Fremont, straight for the display I needed then straight for the cashier. Now I have purchased this display before at Union City and used the 40% off coupon. At Fremont, it did not want to go through. I told the cashier I bought it at Union City before with the coupon so she called the manager. Right off the bat, he was extremely rude and refused to hear what I had to say. While explaining to him that the coupon did work at Union City, he cut me off rambling "Read the fine print" but if you do read the fine print, that display is NOT exempted and the coupon should have been allowed. I took my coupon back and now I'll just wait until Union City or San Leandro has the display in stock again. I will never go to the Fremont Michael's because the manager is extremely rude to customers. read more

I frequent art supply stores frequently and always find myself rushing to make it last minute for 1 item I'm missing. I take very little time at these stores. I get stopped at the felt door 3 minutes before close saying they are closed. Never had a business close on me before they are scheduled to, so my crafting ideas will have to wait until tomorrow, and probably any place but this michaels. read more

I really like this store. I usually go to the Dublin store and was happy when I found out there's one closer to work. Their store is REALLY clean (and this was even during a sale), compared to other stores I've been to, in San Leandro and Dublin. (I was looking for one item and I went on the same day, to ALL three stores). I gave them 3 stars because a couple of their employees didn't know where things were, and when I went during my lunch, the line (yes, just one line) was too long. I ended up getting back to work a little late. The prices are reasonable, compared to other craft stores. And I like how they have a little bit of everything. I just recently got into making floral arrangements, and this is a great place to get started! read more

The last couple of times I've been to this location they didn't have what I needed in stock. Basic art things like graphite sticks, proportional dividers and drawing boards. If they were in stock the employees couldn't help me find them. Today I showed up for a seascape painting class at 10. No one else was there, including the instructor. I showed my confirmation email to the MOD but they wouldn't refund my class fee or even give me a credit for the fee. read more

RUDE cashiers !! We were there earlier today finishing our xmas shopping. At the cashier's counter, we recognized that one particular item rang incorrect value. We told the cashier about it and she said that she can't fix it. So, we told her to cancel the item. She did that and as we were moving away she says "just get out". That was totally uncalled for. When we asked her again, she says she was just saying 'merry christmas' - which she obviously wasn't. I have never seen a more rude cashier in my life. Just an average michaels, I bought a peg set and perler beads to start making some art work; I had trouble finding what I was looking for and asked an associate. She was nice and helped me find what I needed but left me right when I got to the item and I had some questions but she already left. When I need to get my craft on, Michaels is a pretty decent place to go. Biggest gripe is the long lines and the absence of cashiers (or few number of). Outside of that, they have what I need usually, and when paired with a coupon, I can get some pretty decent crafting deals here. read more

Signed up for cake decorating class in November, when the instructor walked in I said " if you go into labor who's going to continue the class" not being rude but she looked like she was about to pop! So after the first class the class is canceled. Fast forward I go in to get a refund after months of being told "we are finding a new instructor" so I can go to another location and they say my receipt is expired. I really dislike this location. If I need help, like I did today its extremely hard to find someone to help you. I needed an acrylic spray from the locked spray paint cabinet. I walked around the store and finally found someone on the other side by the canvases putting away stock and asked for help. She radioed someone to help me. I go back and wait a few minutes. After about 5 minutes someone walks by the aisle and says sorry, were you the one that needed help. I reply yes. I was tempted to say I had been waiting for a while and wasn't sure if anyone was actually going to help me. The girl that unlocked the cabinet was rude and I avoid going here unless I have to get something I cannot find anywhere else. Terrible terrible terrible terrible! I had to press the "ask for assistance" button to get someone. When I got someone to get another person, I told her I needed assistance at the poster aisle, and she had to ask me what aisle number! It's like, isn't this your shop? Shouldn't you be the one knowing which aisle? It's your shop, you sociopath! Anyways, I waited a good few minutes at the aisle, and not to my surprise, no one showed up! I went back to get someone. Another person had to call someone else to assist me. I guess they just don't want to get commission by attending to me. I told the ladies that came what I needed, and they suggested that I buy a 5 piece. I said no I only need one. They went back to check, and after 5 minutes of infuriating waiting, they never returned. I was about to leave when I saw one of the ladies helping someone else. She then told me, "Oh sorry, we ran out." Gosh, was I pissed. I said, "Thank you for coming back and telling me" in the most angry way. Dashed out of the store with a sense that I will never return. Unless you know what you need to get and where you can find it, this is the shop. If you're not a frequent shopper like me, don't go here! EVER! Called in to find out if they had infant monthly age onesie stickers! I've seen them online but didn't have time to wait around for them to arrive so I figured I would call to see if any local stores carried them. First call was to Babies R Us.. They had no idea what I was asking for and didn't even try figuring it out. Next call was to Michaels. First associate answered the phone and was also confused about my request. She placed me on hold and had another associate help me. The next associate took the time to ask a couple of clarifying questions. Turns out that they do carry them! Long story short, Maninder really provided great customer service today. Without going into to much detail, another location kind of messed of my purchases and I came to the Fremont location for my own convenience. Came in for glass mason jars for food storage. The sign clearly said if you buy three or more then all are 20% off. The register wouldn't add the discount so the clerk had to call over a manager. The manager was rude and said since it's an everyday item that discounts aren't applied. She did give me the discount and said they'll do it for me THIS time. She acted like she was doing me a huge favor. I asked why would the sign be there? She just walked away. The clerk looked embarrassed. Horrible experience. I didn't even want to buy the product after all this but it was a million degrees in there and I just wanted to get out. read more

I don't shop at this Michaels, but since I was shopping at the Hub, I ran in to see if I can find a elastic string to fix my pear bracelet. It took a while for me to see an associate on the floor, ran up to her, and asked If she was able to help me find the product I needed. She then proceeded to call someone from her walkie talkie, and asked where she can direct me find the elastic string. She told me I can find it on isle 23, I obviously needed help to locate the string, and I even told her I needed her help. She brushed me off. I of course was annoyed, and picked up similar string and headed to the cash register. After about 8 minutes waiting in line, I asked the cashier if this is the string I needed, she then says I'm not sure, but will ask another associate. She came back and said, Yes this is the item that you need to fix the bracelet. Nonetheless, I don't think I'll be shopping at this Michaels Fremont, again. read more

Obnoxious clerk on Saturday 9-16-17 around 4pm at register 2, Dark hair glasses. Drops some of my items on the dirty floor, another worker passing by behind her picks it up, as the rude clerk is grabbing my florals by the head trying to throw them into a bag. Shrugs her shoulder after the other worker gives her the item that fell on the floor and starts to laugh, proceeds to chat about her schedule, day, etc. Unproffesional and rude. Be careful with your customers items. We are paying money not for them to be carelessly tossed to the ground because you are in a hurry. read more

I just had one of the worst shopping experiences at Michael's that I have ever had the employee named Kengle continuously asked me if I needed help after I told her I was just shopping and follow me around the store as soon as I put down an item she followed me and picked it up I played her little game and drag her around the store picking up random pieces put in random places just to have a giggle read more

I work in the Fremont hub and I go in on occasion after work, and of course you're going to have people who are very helpful, and people who are not. Sometimes you get the good ones, sometimes the bad, it's just the luck of the draw, I gave 1 star because I always seem to find the bad ones here. I once tried complaining to the store manager, and I just knew that she was doing that thing where she kind of nods her head at whatever you have to say, but absolutely nothing will be done about it. I would much rather shop at Jo-anns, but because I work in the same shopping center as michael's I continue to go there, but I've learned to shop on my own now. Great stuff, but limited supplies for artists. More for the moms helping the kiddies on school projects or craft crowd. Good luck finding a salesperson to help you. They are never around.
