This location can get crowded and parking can suck. And some times people can be grouchy, clerks included. But you can't beat the deals. Just went today and all fall was 80% off. Made these awesome wreaths for about $18 total as today's deal was 60% off Xmas mesh too. Can't beat that with a stick. The area in general had seen better days but I also think it's seen worse. The store can get messy and has very narrow aisles and I imagine folks in wheel chairs find it hard to get around, especially during this time of year with Xmas goods overrunning the store. It's not the cheapest depending on what exactly you're looking for, but if you shop there alot, they always give you a 40% off coupon for next time, and the RetailMeNot app pretty much always has great digital coupons you can use. Certain supplies can be better and cheaper online such as Amazon. I stopped by this Michael's yesterday to utilize my 25% off entire purchase coupon. It was a one-day sale from noon until 4pm! I had to act fast. I knew more or less what I needed, but had no idea where to find it. This location is small enough and not overwhelmingly busy with people. However, this store isn't overwhelming populated with employees either. Tips: If you have questions, divide and conquer my friends, divide and conquer. It took my dad, mom, and me several minutes to find help after splitting up in different directions. Be careful walking in the frames section!! My poor daddy walked by a frame (he thinks) and ended up with a cut bleeding finger. No one was around to address this, apologize, or offer a Band-Aid assuming they have Band-Aids or a first aid kit. Not a big deal in our situation but would anyone be around if something more serious happened in the store? Who knows. Like other reviews point out, there was only one cashier until the line started growing. The employee who we had previously tracked down for questions opened another register and helped me purchase my items with coupons. Pro tips: - Pull up the in-store coupons while waiting in line from your smartphone or print them out beforehand from home. I get their ad weekly and coupons are also there. Every single week there is a 40% off one item coupon. Coupons rule! - Check out the clearance/sales area!! You never know what you may find there at huge discounts. This may be one of the worst stores that I have ever been in. The place is a mess. No pride of ownership at all. The staff is either incompetent or lazy. Help yourself or figure out on your own because no one is going to assist you. The lines are ridiculous. It is doubly insulting to wait to be mistreated. All of the workers are rude--including the manager. I purchased a mission kit at the Michael's in La Habra. Thereafter, I was told that mission kits were not acceptable for a school project. On my way to work, I decided to return the kit at this location. This was a decision that I would live to regret. I looked around the store for a few minutes to find some items to make baskets. The sales floor was a mess and completely unorganized. I searched to find someone to help but alas no one came. Fine. I will just return my merchandise and go. When I told the young lady that I wanted to return an item, she became highly upset bordering on livid. She snatched the bag from me and told me that I needed to be put into the system since I did not have a receipt. When I objected because I did have a receipt, she told me to shut up and let her do her job. I immediately asked to speak to a manager. Moments later another ray of sunshine appeared. I attempted to explain the situation but I was told that it was my fault for not having a receipt. Of course I did have a receipt, but no one seemed to care. Finally, the young lady passed me a piece of paper for store credit. I explained that I wanted cash because I paid in cash. I handed her my sales receipt. The sales lady snatched the sales credit slip and voided the transaction. This one hour endeavor finally ended with my solemn promise to never enter those doors again. read more

I have came into this store for many occasions how ever today I had the worst experience. I just cant believe that at this point people still Act the way they do. I was waiting in line and heard how nice and cheerful the cashier was with the people in-front of me who happened to be white females how ever when I got to the front and asked for my mobile order she was really rude and was talking to me as if I did not understand english. Prepare to waste your time waiting in line. I went here on a rather "off-peak" time with not many customers. Still took at least 10 minutes to ring me up. Even during regular business hours they seem to be short staffed. Unless you are in a dire need for something special from a craft store-- you still shouldn't go here lol I only like the late store hours that go up to 11pm and the 50% off coupons they're always putting up online. The worst experience I ever have. I had one item need to return for exchange, but the cashier insists they can't accept it since it was open and unable to resale it. And I tried to asked her why your policy is quite different than most of the stores, she didn't answered it. After that I check with the other two stores near by, both of them mentioned no problem to return it. Not sure why the cashier handle the return policy in different way ~ very frustrated! The customer service at this store is TERRIBLE. There are never employees out on the floor to answer questions. I walked around looking for an employee because I couldn't find origami paper (even though the app said it was in stock on aisle 28). I couldn't find anyone. I finally went to the cash registers where there were two cashiers and a long line of people waiting. I asked one of the cashiers about the origami paper, and she replied, in Avery rude and irritated tone, "We don't carry that anymore." I told her that the app said it was in stock and she said, "Well, the app isn't always right!" The HB one has gotten a lot better at organizing their items. Anywho, I stopped by here the other day since their scrapbooking items were on sale. Nothing special about this store; all of the Michaels carries the same stuff anywa - I just happened to be in the area. The aisles were a bit cluttered and tight. Because of the many people there, I found it hard to walk around without having to excuse myself. Maybe it was just that day though; most Michaels often gets crowded when they have those 20-25% off purchase coupons. Though there are more cashiers here, I didn't like their lines. HB Michaels has 1 line wherein the cashiers call you up one by one as they are ready to take the next person. Here, it's a free-for-all and because there's so little space to even form a line, a lot of people ended up "cutting" which just made things slower. Eh. Why are the ratings so low? It's a great shop! I've visited the Michael's within Buena Park and I always prefer the Fullerton location! Their service isn't always the best, but it's not terrible. They always answer my questions or guide me to the section I'm looking for. I LOVE coming here during the holidays because they have AWESOME decorations. They pretty much have sales every week. If you have your phone on you while at the store, pull up their "40% off one item" coupon. They have it available every week! I've taken Wilton cake classes here before and they were pretty fun. The only complaint I have is that I never received my certificate for my first session and I never got a call. Random, but their frame section smells funky. (lol) They usually have a whole aisle dedicated to the clearance/sales section, which is pretty neat. You all know Michael's. This one is the usual. Pretty much everything you need for basic crafting and decent prices. When I go in a Michael's, I usually wander up and down every aisle except the framing section because I tend to mix crafts together. So I've seen a lot of displays and layouts. They usually make sense, but this one seemed a little... thrown together. Understandably, it could be because it's a bit smaller than most locations. That also means the aisles are pretty cramped. My cart ran over a few things laying around the floor. I got a rude response when I asked an employee where I could find a specific item. Of course, it didn't make sense where it was located. BUT, I finally got a friendly cashier! They're usually so grumpy at Michael's! That cashier got this review an extra star. Overall, I would say go to another Michael's if it's not too much trouble. But this one will do... as long as you're not claustrophobic. read more

This place is understandably cluttered and has a lot of knickknack crap because it is an Arts & Crafts store, so I can't really hold that against them. What I am unimpressed with is the 1980's look/feel/smell that this store has, and just to go buy a picture frame the other day I almost got lost in here. The shelving is like 40 feet high, and there is fake plants and streamers and bins of $1 rubber stamps, and stacks of stickers and old movie posters that are piled so high, you almost get lost. I had to reverse navigate past the yarn and glue sticks, around the unpainted scary ceramic figures, and back out past the glitter pens and scrapbooks to find the exit! I've been coming to this Michaels for years but the last few times I've been it's really been bad. Not enough cashiers, the line is always 5 to 10 people deep. Today there was one cashier and eight people in line at 12 noon! The Scrapbook area is always a mess and under stocked, today was the worst I've ever seen it. I have had bad experiences with other stores such as Joanns. My Order was ready in a day here, and a week at Joanns. This Michaels location is right down the street from where I work so I go almost once a week on my lunch breaks. Although it is a smaller/older location, it is always very clean and organized. They have a great selection of florals, decor, frames, art supplies, etc. The staff is super friendly and helpful, especially River! She is super kind and always takes the time to help me find what I'm looking for. Highly recommend this location for all who love to decorate for the holidays and make crafts often! read more

If you need sustom framing you have to go to this Michaels I brought in some Egyptian handmade paintings and I wish I have gotten her name but she picked out the best frame for both my paintings and when I picked them up they were wrapped up very professional and when she showed them to me I was just blown away!!! I don't normally write reviews. I read them. But, I have to let my fellow readers of reviews know that at this Michael's there's a florist name Thu. I didn't even know they had florists! Now Thu is a godsend!!! I'm getting married and had this great idea to make my centerpieces out of the flowers that had gone on sale at Michael's (I'm getting married close to Mother's Day and every regular florist wanted to charge me an arm and leg!) It's now crunch time and happened to come across Thu. I gave her an example of the centerpiece I had made (and gave her the flowers I had leftover) & had her make the centerpiece for my sweetheart table. The centerpieces she made completely shit on mine! Lol. She did a GREAT JOB on my sweetheart table design!!! Plus, she had what I needed ready in just a couple days. read more

Did an online pickup order because I needed to get in and out. Instead, no one was at the counter when I arrived at 2pm on a Thursday and it took a long time before anyone came. Then that person had to ask another person to help me, who took forever to come, then when they asked what my last name was, she misspelled it 3 times when repeating it back (it's 4 letters) and then walked back and forth looking for it, before finally finding it. When I left, it looked like only one check out line was open. I would think in a time when Amazon is destroying brick and mortar stores, Michaels would care a little more about customer service. If you need a custom made floral arrangement, ask to see Thu. I've taken pictures of the rooms I wanted to put flower arrangements in. She and I walked through the Floral dept and picked out the flowers together. She is quick to pick up what you want and don't want. When you leave the arranging up to her, she adds in a few fillers and they come out amazing. I was so pleased with my first arrangement, that I went back a couple years later to get another one. You should wait for the flowers to be on sale, but Thu will offer you a discount where she can. She has quite a talent! read more

I just called to check on my custom framing order. He told me that the job should be done by Wednesday 10/26/11. I told him I was waiting patiently ...he promptly answered back "...technically we have until the 27th...". If I had not had a 50% coupon this framing project would have cost me 450.00. Granted that now it only cost me about 235.00, I still spent quite a bit. This guy didn't need to give attitude just like I didn't have to spend my money at this particular Michaels. I came to michaels the other day to look for decor for my bridal shower. I had to use the restroom, so I saw a sales associate at the floral desk, I asked her if she could give me the code for the bathroom so I could open the door, she grimaced at me with a death stare and said "I cannot give code to you!" and stomped towards the bathroom and opened the door. What ever happened to customer service????, she could have just said Im sorry I cant give you the code but let me open the door for you. It left a sour taste in my mouth. As I continued to look for bridal decor, they did not have what I was looking for in stock. The store is a lot smaller than the one I usually go to in Buena park. They yell at people for forming lines behind each cash register; because store rules are that there is only one line that forms for all of the cash register which causes a crowd around the aisles. they're so annoying.
