I've been coming to this Michaels for years now and I've always thought it was ok. Maybe a few years ago I would have said it was good but it seems as if things are slowly going downhill. I've noticed that the shelves are almost never fully stocked anymore and that the selection is much less than it normally would be. The cooking section used to be my jam but there isn't much to choose from anymore. I would come to get buy one, get one silicone molds all the time, it was a problem. I've noticed that the fun sales seems to have dwindled and that it's not the best value for your spend anymore. The people working are still pretty much the same. Not bad, not the best. I do appreciate the self-checkout area. Makes it much easier to get what you need and go. read more

I've been coming to this Michaels for years, mainly for planner craft supplies. Their planner section has slowly dwindled and they got rid of their in-house planners, which I really liked. They usually have coupons, although their coupons have been less than in the past. If you want a deal on planner supplies, either wait for a 40% or 50% coupon, OR wait until the start of the year when they begin to heavily discount stock. Unfortunately, if you don't like Happy Planner, you don't have too many options anymore. Their store is clean enough. Employees can be helpful when needed. Not a fan of the big new self checkout kiosks they put it at the front of the store. Now there's only one actual employee checking out a time, which means it's more of a wait if you actually want to be helped by someone. The kiosks are better for folks who just want to go in and out, I suppose. read more

This has been one of my go to Michael's locations since it's in my neighborhood. I have been able to find some great treasures and they have a good stock of craft supplies that I am looking for. However, in recent times, the service here has been virtually non existent. I came in last night around 8 pm and the store only had a small handful of customers. There are now self checkout kiosks. I stood in the line for the register since what I was purchasing needed to be purchased with the cashier. The cashier finished ringing up the customer who was in line ahead of me and did not call me up. Another customer at the self checkout asked for assistance, so she went to help him. I continued to wait which was not an issue for me. The issue for me is that after helping the other customer, she did not return to the register and started working on go backs. There were no other employees to be seen! I walked out without purchasing anything. It was a disappointing experience and I don't plan on returning to this location again. read more

This is merchandise that they've had in the store for months and are now blaming it on tariffs It is illegal to raise prices like that, but they're doing it anyway. I went to Michael's for a picture frame. Upon searching for the right size and frame color, I decided it was not meant to be as nothing fit. I stopped at the framing counter and spoke to a lovely lady named Michelle. Although she was working on another project, she put it away and helped me. She found the perfect frame and created a mat that would fit the print. 30 minutes of problem solving and she just asked for a "smile" in return. Years ago, I used to go to Micheal's for anything relating to scrapbooking. It seems that recently they don't have much to choose from. I'm guessing that's because most stores have moved to selling most of their inventory online. I went to buy patches to iron on and there weren't many to choose from, it's sad because some people like me still like to see things in person before purchasing. The customer service is top tier though. The lady at the counter was super helpful and since no one was standing in line she even came out to help me at a near-by isle because I had a question. The seasonal selection is great! They do have a lot and at a great price! Once the season is over, things go on sale for 70%off! Tip: always check online on their website for coupons, they offer different ones all the time. Also, you get 25% off for submitting your email for deals and promotions. read more

I came in to pick up balloons for a loved one's birthday and asked for a balloon bag. The employee helping me seemed irritated the entire time she was putting it on. I tried to be cooperative and even offered to help, but she ignored me. When I said she could just leave the bag with a few balloons hanging out so she wouldn't have to struggle with it, she responded with an annoyed "what?" and then a very condescending "okay." By the end, I felt like I had to awkwardly shake her off when leaving. It made what should've been a happy, simple pickup feel really uncomfortable. I have zero complaints about shopping at this store! We were looking for a new Christmas tree and Black Friday seems to be the day to do it. And at 60% off I think we got a deal. While we were looking at the trees a nice young lady came over and asked if we needed any help, once we found the tree we wanted of course there weren't any on the floor. She called the back and the tree we wanted was wheeled right up on a cart. Then of course I had to take advantage of the 60% off Christmas sale and buy some cute little gifts. Great customer service always needs to be applauded. Especially on a website like Yelp. If you don't know there use to be a store called Aaron Brothers Art Mart that did incredible custom framing jobs. I may sound a little biased, because I used to be a picture framer for Aaron Brothers, years and years ago in Southern California. Now Aaron Brothers is in with Michael's supply stores. When I took my picture in the framing department manager, Melissa was there to help me with all my needs. Originally my picture was supposed to be ready the day before Thanksgiving, but some of the matting got pushed back to being delivered until Black Friday. When I called on my original day, I had talked with Melissa and she said somebody would call me when it was done. I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt because this really is a busy time of the year with that being said, I did not get a call and I ended up calling them to see when it would be ready. To my surprise it was ready and I went to pick it up. Melissa herself was there and I told her that I never got a call and she gave me a partial refund for my inconvenience without even asking for anything. That is A-1 customer service. Secondly, the picture was set up for hooks on each end, and I wanted the wire that runs across the back and she immediately broke out her framing spool of wire and threaded it completely professional in a matter of minutes. I did let her know my unhappiness about it, but Melissa is a very nice person and a very experienced framer and they did an incredible job. During this hectic time of the year, remember that people working in customer service jobs sometimes might let something slip but when something like this happens in return, you can't do anything but be grateful for there still being great customer service out there. We're out shopping for a tea party the Mrs is giving at our home. So on a cold, dreary, rainy day, here we are at Michaels on Stephanie. This store has great parking & is in a good location. They are known for their selection of arts & crafts items, but they also carry home decorations & a lot more. There is also a classroom on site. Classes are given on different subjects such as cake decorating or bow making. The store is always clean & has a group of friendly employees who go out of their way to help you find whatever you're looking for. Having a party soon? My most recent experience left me wishing I didn't ever need to shop here. I ordered items for pickup. When I picked them up they had given me the wrong item and were out of stock of the correct item. I was looking for a piece of acrylic for a project and she pulled out a piece that seemed perfect. But instead of telling me how much it was or engaging in conversation she just brushed me off by saying ." This is museum quality and it's very expensive ". I waited for her to tell me how much it was but she rolled her eyes and said again, this is very expensive. Excuse me?!!! Are you judging me? What makes you think I can't afford it? I drove across Las Vegas to come to this location because my friend said that it was a great store with products always in stock. I was extremely excited to buy Christmas decorations as there was a sale and it was my first time going all out with the decor. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed as the sale wasn't as great as I had hoped. And majority of items were already gone (that was probably my fault for starting xmas shopping so late) and products were all over the place so it was hard to find specific decor. I came across this ornament set but the packaging was crushed and lid was missing. I didn't want to buy it because of potential broken ornaments (spoiler alert, there was) but it was the last set. During check out, I tried asking if they had a new one or if I could get an additional 10% off because of the damaged packaging, but the manger on duty that day was extremely rude and said "no, only the lid is missing. no ornaments are missing" but she didn't even check?? I was so upset because she spoke to me as if I were a child who didn't know any better. Even other customers came up to me outside apologizing that I was treated that way! The worst Michael's store I've been to in the city! I came in on Friday, January 25, 2019 around 10 a.m. looking for a specific item. I know which aisle the item was located by looking at the Michael's website but couldn't find it. I asked a shelving staff member if she could help me. It seems she was mad about something else. I asked her if she could help me find this item? She says she never saw this item at this Michael's and every Michael's sell different item. As she walked away. I investigated that aisle to see if that item was sold out and I founded the barcode for that item. I took the picture of the barcode and asked another staff at the framing department to find it for me and guess what? THEY FOUND IT! From this experience, I would give one star. But because I found another staff to find my specific item and the item was at a good price, I boosted another star. From this experience, I recommend if you want to ask someone to find a specific item, ask someone who's in a happy mood otherwise you will get mad also. read more

I really love my crafts and my crafting supplies. When I come in here I tend to get sucked in and spend way more time than I planned. Each craft store has their niche of products that they offer. Jo-ann's is mostly fabric and for sewing enthusiasts. Hobby Lobby is great for home décor, holiday décor, and party supplies. Michael's is my go to spot for holiday décor, holiday baking supplies, and paper crafting materials. The store generally has everything I'm looking for in stock and is well organized. The holiday merchandise is typically pretty cute and with sales or coupons is reasonably priced. I like that Michael's in general has an app with discounts like 40% of 50% off regular priced items. This is helpful since I don't have time to track the sales and only buy when things happen to be on sale. They do need to make sure the cashiers understand the app though. Last time I was there the cashier told me I couldn't apply anything because my stuff was on sale. I am overly obsessed with not inconveniencing others so I let it go not wanting to tie up the line. Of course as I'm leaving I review my receipt and like I thought, most of my items were not on sale. Seriously!? I had the app up and ready to go. It would have wasted less time to scan my coupon than for her to be incompetent. I'm probably beating a dead horse with this, but the line. Every.single.time. If I'm in a rush or not feeling like I have the patience of Job I have to avoid stopping here. It would be my lucky day if I ever made it through this line in less than 10 minutes. On a weekend you can be looking at 20 minutes. There are never enough cashiers and they make the cashiers answer the phones with can bring everything to a halt. read more

Im not sure if they were hiding from me but I left because I couldn't find it and couldn't find anyone to help me find it. Now, I don't want to seem like I'm being a little extra by giving them 3 stars just because of this so let me elaborate more. I called two other locations (Rainbow, Stephanie) to check if they had the product there, one of them seemed like they checked the product because they put me on hold for about 10 mins and the 2nd location said "I don't think we have that in store" after a minute on the phone. I was definitely disappointed that she didn't bother to check it at all. What annoyed me even more was that their online website said they had a couple in stock. This review is for the picture frame department. Many years ago a good friend of mine gave me a beautiful handwoven cloth that she brought back for me from a visit to her homeland, Thailand. I've kept it all these years, hidden away and kept in a box, among other things that I treasure. I was told that each one is intricately made, and no two are the same. I've treasured it all these years. Recently, I decided to have it framed and I'm so glad I chose Michael's! Miguel the framer was just outstanding, very professional, and so pleasant. He made suggestions that I'm glad I agreed to because I'm just so pleased with how it turned out! He also got the work done a week ahead of schedule...:-). Has gotten much better in terms of customer service than it used to be. Nice people, slightly understaffed. Lines tend to be long and slow, but again, better. Nice selection, tends to have a little less than other stores. I don't custom frame there much; they do great work but the percentage savings are pretty bogus. You ask for it and they say "it's already been applied." And still very very expensive! WATCH the cashier and totals - clearance and discounts tend to not be applied more than they should. Last visit I bought 3 gallery frames on clearance, jumped sky high when the total was $110, after I pointed out the problem, it was $48, and that's HUGE! read more

I'm giving two stars because this cashier that was completely rude at least showed up to shorten the line because the other guest wanting their prices checked and they only had one cashier. However she never greeted me never said hello the first thing she tells me is to put on my mask which I was wearing but because I forgot my normal mask, I had a back up mask which is very difficult to breathe out of so it was just under my nose but fully covering my mouth. So instead of a hello she only instructed me to put on my mask which I informed her my mask was on she then informed me to put on my mask again which I then informed her my mask was on and pushed it up closer to my nose. If your sign says face coverings required and does NOT specifically say you need to cover your mouth and nose then you need to back off because you don't know peoples circumstances! Social distancing, washing your hands and covering your mouth is all that is necessary if you have been paying attention this past year! Shitty service!! read more

On saturday, we were in the area, so went to this store location, for a change. This store is much bigger than the regular go-to store we go to, on Decatur. I was looking at the semi-precious beads (left side, after the stickers and scrap booking supplies), while my husband looked at the picture frame selection. I went to the end caps (inside, towards the wall) and discovered the clearance sections. Well, I found some contenders, so I was here a while. I found lots of jolee's jewels- swarovski beads packages marked down to $1.99 and $2.99, regularly $4.99! I also found some natural red coral beads @ $1.99. We also went to the sticker section to check out the Hawaii stickers, also by Jolee's, for $4.99. I tried using my 40% single item coupon, but learned that the stickers were on sale, too. So I passed it along to the next customer in line (would rather someone use it than for it to go to waste). All in all, I was pleased with the bead selection. What I love about Michael's beads (compared to Jo-Ann's), is that the beads are categorized, which makes it easier to find what you are looking for (ie. natural (wood, pearls), glass (manmade), semi-precious, crystal, etc.). There were quite a few customers here and the checkout line was long, but quickly dispersed, after another cashier came to help out. There is a slightly different selection here, this store is much bigger, and it is newer, too. I like it. If we are in the area, will need to check this place out again, definitely. read more

This holiday season like a ton of other festive minded people I found myself in Michaels many times. Obviously due to the time of year this place was packed but due to its location right of Stephanie there was ample parking. Once inside this is what I noticed 1. A good amount of staff roaming the store eager to help. One person walked me all the way to the item I was looking for as it was quite obscure check out was also a breeze they are very efficient. 2. Selection and quality. Had everything I needed and even a few things I didn't know I needed. Tried to concentrate on only my needs but all the shiny objects caught my attention. Every thing was also of good quality. 3. Prices. Every item I purchased was either reasonably priced, on sale or had a coupon. So I was very happy. 4. Rewards program. I signed up and they're very good at emailing you amazing coupons which I've used.
