Worst customer service I've experienced in quite some time. I don't think I'll ever shop at this specific michaels again. I placed an online order and when it was ready for pick up, it gave me instructions on what to do when doing curbside. It didn't say anything about designated spots or where to park, so I just parked closest to the store as I could. When I called the first time to the store (as directed) the male customer service rep was incredibly rude and told me I needed to move to a "designated" spot. Well, there were no designated spots so I told him I was in the first spot directly in front of the store. He put me on hold for 8 minutes and then without coming back on the phone, hung up. I called again and he said I needed to move to a designated spot, I said there were no numbered spots anywhere on the curb. (I ended up getting out of my parked car and looking all around towards Dicks and Petsmart, nothing) so could he tell me where to go he said it was in front of the store. I said I'm in front of the store in my car and don't see anything. He again hung up! I ended up having to go inside the store to get my order, which fine whatever, but don't offer curbside if it's not available. Also, the lady working the cash register was unnecessarily snarky and rude when I asked where to go inside for a pick up order. Talked down to me like I was stupid just because I asked where the pick up counter was in the store. Unprofessional. Hugely disappointed in the customer service aspect of it all. read more

They say it's soooo easy, order online and pick up in store... But then you get to the store, with the email from a day ago saying it was ready for pick up.... And it's not ready. They can't even seem to find it and now they are running around the store looking for my stuff... Pulling it together as I stand here wasting my time. I thought the whole point was to save me time, clearly it's the opposite. Something that should have taken 5mins has now taken 20mins... and to make matters worse, one of the paints I ordered was not the color I received. So now I have to go back and waste more time to correct their mistake. This is the worst experience I've ever had with online orders to be picked up in stores. HOARDING! That's what this store is. Whatta mess! They have a ton of discounted useless items, everywhere. Even a bunch of crap outside. i've been here a bunch of times. What they have lots of are scrap booking items, knitting items, and kiddy art supplies. What they do not have any or need more of are airbrushing items, brushes, and oil paints. This store has items for the typical "I need something for an art project real quick" items. But no items for artists that take their art seriously. Not enough material. This review pertains only to the manager there named Matthew. On April 9, 2020, I came in a hurry from Joann's - they did not have the vinyl transfer I was looking for - only to be confronted by Matthew who proceeded to yell and scold me for coming in. Looking back, I realized that they were only doing curbside service only unlike Joann's. He explicitly shouted "can't you see thats what all those (the signs and shelves) are for?!" I told him that he did not have to shout at me; however, I ended up getting berated again. I told him again that he did not have to yell at me in which he replied " I want to!". In frustration, I called him an @$$hole (excuse my french) and walked towards my car. He walked after me asking "what did you say?" and tried to taunt me to come back as if he's ready to fight me. Reflecting back, this is what I make of the situation. Matthew is too aggressively violent and impatient to be in the role of manager at a Michaels store. This is the same store that I have bought vases to put flowers in for my girlfriend on Valentines Day, and I was very well treated by lady who helped me that day. I'm also a doctor who put my life on the line everyday, so I am aware of the stress of dealing with customers or individuals with this pandemic going on. This does not excuse this "manager's" case. Matthew's action and behavior is likely spurred on by his racism towards Asian Americans; this is evident in the way he talked down to me upon meeting me at the entrance. Instead of informing me that they only offered curbside pick up, he decided to yell at me and even pursued after to me seeking a fight. As I'm writing this review down, I'm seeking legal advice from my peers in the law field. I do not wish another person of color to be walking into this store and be treated like this again by this man. read more

Look. I get it that this is a crazy time. But the Michael's website tells me to contact the store for item availability. But the Edinger Plaza store in Huntington Beach, CA does not pick up the phone. What's the point of putting that on the website. Then I go TO THE STORE and I just get excuses that the item is probably not available. No checking. No asking me what the item is. I am quite annoyed. Usually the experience here is nice, but an employee went into the bathroom when my girlfriend was using it and yelled "is there a man in here". And after I said it's my girlfriend she said she asked because she saw big feet. My girlfriend is trans and if I wanted an experience like that I'd just go to hobby lobby. I love coming here especially since the remodel. I had been in Pinterest (I know. So dangerous) and wanted to create this framed corkboard that took some intricate work. I'm not a crafty person at all but like to pretend I am when I have guests over and Heather helped make that lie come alive for me! I ordered something online and went to return it in store and the lady at the counter was VERY rude and said that I have to call customer care and cannot return it in store. I went home and called customer care to return and the lady was appalled that I was sent away. She said that they should have returned it in store no questions asked. I've got to say, with the new employees and their new makeover, this Michaels is a lot better than what it had been before, albeit a little crowded. I think this is because they had extended their cashiers to a larger area while keeping all of their usual merchandise in the now limited space that they have. I love the new employees much more than before. They are all very friendly and helpful. This time around, if the employee cannot answer my question, they do not make things up as they had before. They will try their best to direct me to somebody who can. :) Now that, is customer service. They now have, I believe, 8 cash registers, though I usually only see 2 - 4 cashiers open at any one time. They'd also set it up in such a way that customers now know that there is one line to be formed and the next cashier who is available to help will have their number called over the computer/intercom thing. So far so good. They're still doing a bit of remodeling, but everything you need is there. Just ask for help if you need to find anything. I hope that after everything has settled down that they will rearrange the aisles in such a way that it doesn't feel so crowded. Management, get fully staffed. If you know your gonna open to the public but only have 2 registers open and no one assisting customers in the store. Better manage the team. Other than that, please don't have display boxes for items that aren't in stock. And then be aggravated that you have to walk to grab the item or check. Poor customer service. read more

Went here for something simple and I have to give them props for their customer service. I didn't catch her name but I assume she was the manager who was greeting customers at the front and immediately asking what she could do to help them. This seems simple but I was literally walking around Walmart for almost an hour before with no help whatsoever so it was nice to be serviced right away here. At the age of 10 I discovered my artsy fartsy side with simply a number 2 pencil and a blank piece of paper inspired by my dads amazing talent of art and drawings. Once I got older and learned to drive, I discovered Michaels which inspired me even more so. After walking in my jaw dropped with amazement from all the unique supplies an artist/designer one could ever dream of. From book scrapping, pastel paints, oil based paints, to crocheting and etc; they have all the things you need to create and design your own imagination. Prices in here do vary, where as I've found the exact brand of certain things for a cheaper price in 99c stores or those bargain stores. I highlllllyy recommend signing up with their rewards membership, to get emails of coupons and discounts with is WORTHY. I love coming here b/c the prices are extremely reasonable once youve signed up with their subscriptions so get on that! The employees here are helpful, informative, and lastly really want you to get the best prices by matching your coupon/promo codes with whatever products you may purchase to save a couple dollars which I really appreciate. Michaels is overly priced compared to shopping at Target or Walmart BUT i always take advantage of their weekly deals or coupons because that's where Michaels' price trumps Target and Walmart! This place is enormous and I never have a problem finding what I need for my crafts! =) I DON'T have a preference between Hobby Lobby and Michaels but I have been shopping at Michaels more often because they carry a lot more beads compared to Hobby Lobby (my last craft required lots of differ color beads).. The line here is TYPICALLY long when waiting for check-out but the wait isn't all that long.. IT'S pretty fast pace. Since they've remodeled the store, it help speeds up the check out process! SO YAY! Exchanging your items is WACK! I went there for an exchange....and rather than just swapping the items i wanted to exchange (same price and all) they had to return my first item....refund it back onto my card...and then its a whole new process all over again where they RING ME UP for the "new" item..... I don't want to wait for my refund... thats too much work on BOTH ENDS OF THE PARTY... I really do like the location of this Michaels! It's pretty close to Hobby Lobby, so if they're not carrying whatever I am looking for or if i want to see the price difference, it's not that far of a drive to hop on over the the next craft store! I received a text from my cellphone indicating I get a $5 voucher at Michaels, expired on 6/9/2022. I went to Michaels and spent $40 so I asked the cashier E (that's what I'll call him by), if I could use the voucher, he said yes. He asked me to punch in my phone number before he scanned the $5 voucher, it didn't go through. His response was "I couldn't do anything with it" this statement is unprofessional, rude, and got this review one star. I explained to him that I got a text through my phone, and I only have one email. He said, I couldn't see it in my screen, and the voucher is link to your email, and there's nothing I can do about it. You need to call Michaels customer service and have them take a look at your account, they can fix it. That's a much better response. Before, I would go to Michael's a lot, I would request my family & friends for Michaels gift card for my birthday or Christmas as presents. I would say I was a big fan of Michaels. Now, sadly... I couldn't say the same. Anyway, if you don't like something, don't support it, hobby lobby is just down the street. AliExpress app has a lot of cheap stuffs but waiting for the parcels can take anywhere 1-2 months but at least I won't have to encounter bad customer services and I don't mind waiting for my parcels. Worse customer service ever!!! We were looking at a Lemax Spooky Town Ceramic House (This was on Sunday 9/17/17 around 9:00 AM). Since there were none left on display, we asked the lady working in front for assistance. She confirmed with a co-worker via radio that they no longer had any in stock. I asked if she could check if they had it at another store. She said curtly "I can't do that if I do not have a stock number". I asked how would one get this so-called stock number. She said " It's on the display item but I can't get it for you because I am the only one up here". No smiles...No "sorry we don't have this item anymore"...No "what can I do to help you"...just the attitude was that she did not want to do anything more than work the register. She could have asked for assistance for a co-worker. She could have looked it up by name. She could have called another store. She could have suggested that we check out their new app (which we found out later). She did none of these things because she could not be bothered to help a customer. There was no other customers in the store!!! She could have helped us but she chose not to. She was rude and unprofessional. We will never come back to this store again and we have been long-time loyal customer of Michaels. We had to call several stores at random. All of them were helpful and polite. They suggested the new app which was pretty cool. We ended up buying this $120.00 item from the Buena Park store. Sorry, Huntington Beach, you will never get our business again!! read more

This location is now a UPS drop off/ pick up point. I had a very important package rerouted here, but in doing so UPS added another day to the delivery. That extra day happened to be on Christmas Eve, and I was worried that the package wouldn't make it before the store closed for the holiday. I spoke with a manager the morning of, and she assured me that their delivery guy usually drops off in the afternoon. She took down my name and number and offered to call me when my package arrived. I figured that she wouldn't actually call me, but she really went the extra mile and notified me as soon as it arrived. If I could do ZERO stars I would. I walked into this Michael's a few months ago when they had the 5 dollar surprise boxes. I started to look at them and I bent down. I almost lost my balance so I caught myself on the box. Keep in mind I was talking to an employee that was right next to me about these boxes. All I did was press my hand on the box & the manager of the store told me that i will be escorted out of the store if I look through the boxes. I said i'm sorry but I wasn't going through the boxes. I just lost my balance and I put my hand on the box. He continues to say that im lying and he was watching me go through the box. That's when this employee I was with stood up for me and said that I wasn't going through the box. The lady that he was helping was going through the boxes right in front of him. Turns out she's a regular and they get along really well. Favoritism at it's finest. I work in the plaza as well so he knows me. It's just disrespectful how I was treated as a customer, think about how his employees are treated. A lot of them quit or moved stores because of him. This company needs to do better. read more

I went into Michaels today, during the pandemic situation. I was greeted by a super nice lady, wearing a mask, who summarized all of the measures they were taking to make the store safe, including sanitized carts. In check out, the cashier thoroughly wiped down the counter and the credit card machine after each customer check out. At the moment I am incredibly frustrated with this store. While checking out one of the items rang up fifty dollars more than I thought it was. The gal was sweet and took it off. After I made the purchase I went back to see how I could have been so mistaken. There were two signs there and both were for twenty nine ninety nine. On sign was right where the item I wanted was and that is all that at that section he other had another style and there were several there plus one other style one I didn't notice. There was no sign for the eighty nine dollar one. Shame on them. I get disappointed and the clerk gets extra work. But it didn't end there. I get home and notice a clearance item I purchased rang up for three dollars more than the sticker price. What a pain, now I have to go back and get the three bucks.. Maybe I will go to the one near me and just avoid Huntington Beach from now on. read more

I love diy projects! I have fun making them. I think I have some creativity My challenge is how to execute them. Since this was my first time at this Michaels, I didn't know where to start. Edward quickly approached me and asked if I would like some help. I explained to him my big ideas. He patiently listened and looked at my sketches. He then showed me the materials and have me options to help simplify my ideas. This was great! My big project became so much smaller, which I'm so glad because I do not have much time to work on this. His customer service was excellent. He was so knowledgeable. When I was done speaking with him, I knew exactly what I needed to buy and how to make it. As I was walking around the store, I noticed how the merchandises were nicely stocked, clean, and orderly. This might be one of the most organized Michaels I've been to. All the employees were working hard. I didn't see anyone just standing around. read more

I was on the phone with the store clerk, confirmed my information, then they come out with a legal pad and ask you to roll down your window to collect your info again, then they go collect your items. Michaels...i have SUCH a hate and love relationship for this place. i LOVE everything in there...crafts are my favorite pasttime. i HATE the prices...and that i want everything but what i HATE about this store in particular?????? I love michaels so I was very disappointed today. I had called in about getting a price match for a Cricut easy press today and the person said over the phone that I can do it at the cash register but once I got there the cashier asked the manager who said that they do not price match other Michaels stores but I called another store who said they do. I guess it's my fault that I didn't get the name of the person over the phone but I'm still upset. I did end up buying other things but I feel like I wasted my time today coming specifically for that. read more

This is a perfect place to go if you're a crafty artsy person who enjoy making dyi stuff. This Michaels store is very popular and it is always well stocked. In the past we've had some concerns with the long lines at the cashier counters. We saw the long line, but were undeterred. I need some frames and the lovely missus quickly found a style that would work. The frames were also steeply discounted so I got two. We always walk this store from front to back and enjoy seeing the many crafts and knick knacks. You can pretty much get anything in this store, no matter what hobby you are in to. Now it is time to pay for the frames and we got to the back of the line. Michaels has definitely improved serving the customer. More cashiers and an intercom announcing which one is open. We got to the front in no time and we were helped by a pleasant and helpful male cashier. That was actually a good shopping experience and we would definitely shop here again. read more
