I just witnessed what must be not only the worst customer service I have ever seen, but actually the most offensive treatment of a customer by a manager that I have ever seen. Ever. I happened to be standing in line at the checkout a few weeks ago and witnessed a manager by the name of Jose absolutely berate a customer who was in line trying to check out, because she was not wearing a mask. She was visibly shaken by his extremely harsh tone of voice and forceful, angry demeanor...as he literally spoke over her, barely letting her speak. She was simply trying to point out that she had a medical exemption and could not wear a mask and he proceeded to humiliate her and disrespect her in a fashion that I could not even believe I was seeing. Not only did he completely disrespect her and rudely dismiss her legitimate explanation for why she was unable to wear a mask, but he had the gall to actually do it in front of a line of other customers, who all were waiting to check out. And he did it in front of her young daughter who was with her! Unbelievable. I literally could not believe my eyes. Everyone should know how utterly disrespectful this store manager behaves towards customers, before they consider shopping here. I was so upset by what I witnessed that I waited until after checking out to see if I could comfort the woman in the parking lot. But unfortunately she had already left by the time I got outside. I hope filed a formal complaint or better yet, took some form of legal action. I plan to file a formal complaint with the Michael's home office about this. Sent on a wild goose chase because this store didn't call another location to confirm stock before sending me over. I arrived at the other location just to find out that they were completely out of stock as well. Very very irritating. I tried to call to inform a manager what had happened, but they take forever to answer their phones and then put you on hold for excessive amounts of time, I'm talking 20 plus minutes. Horrible. They mark the floors with social distancing markers, but no one is enforcing it. I was so very uncomfortable as the line behind me was up in my space. I wish that one staffer would have come about to "remind" others to stay at a safe distance. I'm not one to start a commotion, so I kept creeping away from the lady behind me and she didn't get the clue. The family behind her were just as bad! HORRIBLE. Drove out 30 minutes because online it states they have chocolate/candy melts available in store only. They don't allow to order online, only in store. I arrive to the store and they say they can't sell any of their chocolates or edible decorations because they "don't have their food license." If that's the case they SHOULDNT have their unsellable items listed online! Such an inconvenience and to top it off when I asked the cashier about the the chocolate and why it wasn't on sale she was super rude. He left 1 register open and didn't seem to care when I asked him to ring the rest of us out. Very clean, organized store with GREAT large selection of products. I had previously stopped by the Orangefair Mall Michaels but had to return an item at this location closer to my home. Finding parking was easy and conveniently located right in front of the store. Walked in and was pleasantly surprised to find the scrapbooking section near the entrance. Oh, lucky day! Even luckier was seeing well stocked shelves with a variety of options. So many stickers!! The card stocks along the side wall are flawless. Only came here for a return but left the store with more scrapbooking goodies I couldn't find at other location. Line moves quickly and staff provides good customer service. Pro tips: - Pull up the in-store coupons while waiting in line from your smartphone or print them out beforehand from home. Weekly ad has coupons. Every single week there is a 40% off one item coupon. MORE savings can be found on their website online. - Check out the clearance/sales area!! HORRIBLE! Shop somewhere else. Our use their new pick up at the curb service and it was horrible! Ordered at 2 o'clock in the afternoon yesterday, never got an email like they said they were going to send, called and was hung up on a bunch of times, finally got through and they said oh yeah we have it. I then drove to the store tried to call as instructed and was hung up on a bunch of times. Finally saw a guy bring in order out to another car and told him I was unable to get through. From that time forward was 30 minutes before they brought out my order! I know things are crazy right now and it's only art supplies, but I will not be shopping there anymore while this craziness continues! This michaels does not honor their own sales! Their website clearly had a statement that said buy any two regular priced items get the third free, it did not have a bar code or additional stipulations outside of it couldn't be used on clearance items. It was not a web only thing or onsite only it just stated it as a fact. I tried to buy two regular priced identical items and the third rang up full price, I bring up the website, the cashier thinks it's odd that the computer didn't take the third off, calls the manager over who says that while yes their website says clearly that is the sale, she can't or won't give me the third item for free because there is no barcode. The manager could have given it to me but she chose not to even after clearly saying that yes their website states. They were big $60 canvasses that regularly go on sale for more than what I would have paid with their buy two get one offer and the manager's poor customer service and lack of honoring their own stated sales is extremely disheartening. read more

Stopped by quickly this morning to buy some stickers and knick knacks for my planner. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by one of their employees who was maintaining the area. Nice! As I am looking a second employee asked me if I needed help finding anything or a basket. Wait what? Go to pay the cashier is tots friendly and asks me if I found everything I was looking for, had I've been helped, etc. My mind was officially blown at that point. It's so rare to receive good customer service that when I do I feel like crying. No joke. In terms of location it was well stocked, clean, and customer service is top notch. I feel like this Michaels is sort of dark, dingy, and dirty. And it is always out of stuff. Not my cup of tea. I usually go to the nicer, cleaner store in Brea, but I had to come to this one because they had the scrapbooking bag I wanted in zebra print. (I know. Really? Zebra print? But it matters to some people. *cough*Me*cough*). So here's how it went down: 1. Saw zebra print bag in San Diego while visiting friends. 2. Decided I couldn't live without zebra scrapbooking bag. Went to Brea's Michaels. 3. Did not have bag in zebra print. Told me they stopped making the bag in so called print. 4. Bought a different bag, (some weird camel print), went home slightly disappointed. 5. Went to La Habra Michaels. 6. Saw zebra bag! 7. Went back to exchange bags. 8. Had to deal with extremely GROUCHY employee! I waited in line FOR-EV-ER behind some old lady wanting to check that every-damn-thing she was buying was on clearance and listened to the middle age employee butter her up. I mean, he was as sweet as pie to her. I'm thinking, "Great! It won't be so painful requesting an exchange." Umm...wrong. Once clearance lady was gone, I sweetly asked for an exchange, presented my receipt, and got a short, nasty response. It was like nice and day. Basically my transaction was a series of short words, "sign here," and my receipt shoved in my face. yeah. But I walked out with a big smile on my face and a zebra print bag never to return to this Michaels again. read more

Okay, is it just me or do I seem to find employees recently who would care less in helping you? It feels like all I'm getting are young people who would rather talk to their co-workers over drama related issues than help the customers who are in front of them. You know, the people that will determine their store's bottom line and their jobs. I found what I was looking for easily enough, but didn't exactly receive the service I would have expected. The girl never once spoke to me. She was too busy talking to another co-worker. However, the lady behind me in line asked her a question and the girl just lit up with a response back. Being a health care student and treating patients, I decided to take on a craft as my distraction and pass time . I placed my order and 30 minutes before closing I was notified my order was ready for pick up. I jumped in my car and headed to Michaels to make it in time before closing . I looked at my email and just scanned the email where it said ring the call button (I scanned as I was in a rush to make it in time for pick up). A Caucasian lady with white hair told me I needed to call the store and tell them I was here - so I did . The worker asked me to roll my window down (she didn't specify which one, so I rolled my drivers window down - like I do for target drive up). I rolled my window down and the same lady with white hair is looking at me all crazy , she tells me in a scolding voice to roll the other windows down , I tell her okay and thank you . The worker then proceeds to throw my purchase in my car! I call the store and ask to speak to the manager , the "manager " gets on the phone and I ask her name for reference , she tells me she's the manager and doesn't provide her name. Being a health care student and getting one day to do as much as I can , it is highly unacceptable to treat any one in that manner - I always treat my patients with respect , Michaels should teach / train their employees better ! read more

I love Michaels Arts & Crafts because they seriously have everything. I walk in there intending to only buy cake and candy decorations, and I can walk out with a new hobby. Scrapbooking?! Seriously. As expansive as the inventory at Michaels is, the staff seems a bit inadequate. You're pretty much on your own when it comes to finding something in the store, unless you're lucky enough to catch one of the elusive employees. But when you do find one, its crazy how they know exactly what aisle everything is. I hear the prices are Michaels are pretty high when it comes to baking supplies, compared to wholesalers, but I don't need a trillion baking cups, I only need 24. So for now, I'll be happy to pay whatever prices Michaels decides on. They always have half off coupons anyway. read more

I was in last week to get some art supplies and was helped by the manager Phil who pointed me in the directions I needed to go for my stuff. There was one item he didn't know about, but he called another worker and walked me over to where the item was. While speaking with me, I noticed that he made a point to acknowledge other customers passing by to make sure they were made to feel welcome. Later, when I was still shopping, Phil noticed my hands were full and took the initiative to get a shopping basket into my hands to help me out. Celeste made great suggestions I didn't think of. Yesterday I picked it up CELESTE did a FANTASTIC job. It's beautiful! Her attention to detail was incredible. So pleased. I came here with my friend for some craft shopping. It's a great Michael's and has a lot of nice selections and sales so I was very satisfied until I went to purchase my items. The cashier there did not seem like she liked her job. After my purchase was processed, instead of handing my receipt she basically chucked it at me. Not only that, but when receiving my shopping bag, I noticed there was a huge hole on the side of it so I asked her if she could re-bag it for me. When she re-bagged it, she dropped my items on the ground and handed me the bag and it had ANOTHER hole in it. I'm pretty sure she saw the hole because she didn't pick up the bag by the handles and then she tossed it on the counter. I like this Michaels Arts and Crafts Store. They are very organized and have remodeled more recently. They now have a single line that you check out in with multiple registers and they try to be helpful. This is a big store, but the people at the front attempted to argue with me the last time I was here because they did not have some stuff marked properly and all of the frames were buy one get one 50% off, but they said my frame specifically didnt apply to the all frames sign. I was kind of irritated, but everything else worked well, and I like that I can get in and out of here quickly and easily. read more

Customer service is horrible at this location. Spent almost 5 minutes just waiting for the cashier to figure out how she is going to wrap these glass candle holders for me so they don't break. She then decides to just place them In a large box and tries to send me on my way. I insisted she wrap them with at least paper so I can avoid having them break once I walk out the store. She still couldn't grasp the concept of what I was telling her so I asked her for the paper and wrapped them myself. After wrapping about 20 of them myself she then hands me a bag and says here so you can bag them. Pretty much did her job for her while the whole time she looked annoyed. I love the store and the coupons usually the staff is friendly but this last time had me still a few days later a little upset. I was in line to pay and I was up next there were 2 open registers the lady left her register but, didn't say anything to me her light was still on. I went to set down my hard to hold beads I sat my stuff down at the counter and the lady I believe Connie or Colleen was her name was so, rude towards me. She said, don't put your stuff there that the lady working at the station Michelle had left her station to help another person in store. ??? Ummm she nvr acknowledged me her light is on??? Where is the other in-store staff? Why didn't she acknowledge that I was next in line n she had to leave Connie/Colleen started giving me an attitude and put me in a bad mood she was so rude then I didn't even want her helping me thank God michelle came back to her register she was so kind. The line was long I believe they are understaffed but, I just don't think Connie/Colleen???? A manager should ever be so rude she could have approached me in a kinder supportive way saying, I'm so sorry I know your next I will be right with you as soon as I can I do apologize we are understaffed today but no she was arguing with me and all I needed was to use the counter for my handful of beads. I left still upset & planned to write this earlier. I just didn't appreciate her treating me poorly. I really still am upset but, whatever hope she gets a write up that's how rude she was.
