I want to say a few positive things about Michaels, in general, and about our last visit in particular. First, Michaels continues to carry Pride Month merch. Sounds like a small thing, but for our family, it's a big deal. Second, we've gotten several things framed here, both custom and not. We were here this week to pick up some standard size frames, and we never fail to find attractive options. The frames have been moved to make way for the new Joann Fabric section, but that's fine. Third, they transitioned to a system where everyone does self-checkout, but if you have Michaels rewards or coupons, or both, there is always someone there to help you navigate. We want to recognize Zen for helping us maximize our savings this past visit. read more

I went into the store today and the cashier I think her name was Angela was super helpful and she was super kind and she was able to help me figure out where my items were that I needed. Michael's is my favorite craft store because I always find what I'm looking for. On this part occasion I was ISO a basket for my work Christmas party raffle and Michael's did not let me down! I found a cute Christmas basket with a red checker pattern. This will pair nicely with the coffee theme of my gifts. I also found gift tags which I was running low on. The basket was on sale and fit into my budget. I love arts and crafts and Michael's is like a toy store for me! read more

Needed some help. Waited in flower section for a while. Had to walk to front to ask for help. Manager said she would help me after she helped a customer. Waited in flowers. Then she helped another customer. Then she went to help another customer. I respectfully interrupted and asked when she would help me. She looked at me annoyed. I told her what I needed help with. She immediately turned her back to me and asked the other customer what she needed. After she helped her, I asked why she just did that and she said the other customer just wanted directions to an item and I wanted actual help. I'm completely ok with that but maybe, just maybe, she says to me - I know you've been waiting but do you mind if I help this customer with directions. I would have said no problem. It's her rudeness that earns her this 1 star rating. Do better. read more

I've only had excellent experiences here. Staff has always been very friendly. Everytime I entered, Im greeted warmly. And when I need assistance, it's always quickly provided. I've also utilized their framing service, three separate times now. All times I was able to use a 70% off coupon, and each time my order was ready ahead of schedule. I can be frightfully indecisive sometimes, and their team always steers me the right direction. Also their online in store pick up is lightning fast! Ten minutes after I submitted an order, I got an email telling me it was ready for pick up! This place hits all my marks! read more

Fabric department is a joke. They only had novelty prints and not much. In the fat quarter area the had exactly two pieces of fat quarters. And the place to cut the fabric was about one foot square. Unbelievable. Don't waste your time going there. read more

This store is AWFUL, i miss JoANNS. it took me 35 mins to check out because I was buying a gift card because you had to have an actual human do it, she didn't know what she was doing and there is only ONE. Not only is the store very dirty and unorganized, but the team wasn't very helpful. The young Anglo woman was set on telling me that the item I was looking for wasn't sold at the store when I had previously purchased it. I found the item on my own but I was given the run around pointing me to various isles and the manager wasn't helpful at all. This is the last time I shop there. I'd rather drive to the Dublin shop. Focus on learning your merchandise and getting better organized so customers don't waste their time. read more

Very bad customer service with the cashier. I have my item in hand and was paying with cash. Instead of directing me , she looked at me and walk away. I don't shop very often at Michael's but I went there because I needed something that they have. Quite a change there. I was sent to this location after not finding what I needed at the Dublin Store. Jayden from Dublin called and confirmed my item was in stock and had it on hold Ready for Pick up at The register. Not much I have to say about this store. It's a Michaels. I always feel they're more expensive than Joann (especially since it seems Joann has more coupons), so I usually only shop here for something specific that I've already seen on the app that they have available. But I always check out holiday decorations here because they seem to be "less crafty" looking than what's at Joann. And a bit more modern. Maybe that's the best way to differentiate the two craft stores here in town ... Joann has more old school "craft items"like fabrics and yarns, while Michaels has more modern crafts for school projects and decor. That's my take on it at least. I love Michael's always has been my go to place for all things crafty and for my seasonal decorations. They have definitely stepped up there customer service over the last 5 years as it used to be a place that you could find everything you wanted except customer service. Now that they have figured out the training of their employees and hav e made the service so much better it's the only place I go. We all know framing is expensive everywhere but I have found Michael's to be the most competitive pricing. They are really helpful and friendly and do a fast and fantastic job. read more

Buyer beware!! If you purchase anything that's labeled "holiday" or seasonal (even if it's a string of lights that they literally sell for *every* season) it's not returnable even if the ITEM WAS DEFECTIVE OR BROKEN. The item was purchased well after the holiday, and it was not on clearance when purchased, yet was told that it cannot be returned when coming back 6 days later because it was seasonal even though the item was BROKEN. I understand seasonal being final sale after a certain date, but the item was useless when it was sold to me, which Michael's should have known about prior to! Horrible customer service and unprofessional. I'll stick to Joann or Hobby Lobby from now on. read more

The trip started out fine. I was excited, as I checked inventory on the app for numerous things I needed and this location had everything I needed. Found the items I needed but felt as I was being watched towards the end of my trip. I was looking in a corner section when one of their employees pops up out of nowhere and is just in the area the entire time I am there. Brushed it off. Went to checkout and waited for two people ahead of us to complete their purchase. There was another employee nearby but working behind a fixture. I approach the self checkout machine and am getting ready to scan my items. The employee who was standing behind a fixture comes and stands right behind my cart. There was no one else in line and I didn't ask for help checking out or express any confusion in how to operate the checkout machine. She stands there the entire time I am checking out and watches. I didn't even have many items. She didn't feel the need to stand behind the other 2 customers who had just completed their purchase. I have never experienced this at any other Michael's location. Fortunately, the Dublin location offers better service and am not treated like a criminal. read more

I was trying to submit some photos to the Alameda County Fair and found out that they were extremely particular this year. When I submitted them, they rejected them because of the mat. The dyed purple, short hair manager, Kira, here is always mean, grouchy, and rude. I used to love coming to this michaels, but since she has been working at this location, I've hated it. Months prior, one of the employees did not give me a receipt with my purchase and almost did not process my return because they COULD NOT give me a receipt. Today, I went to michaels and they had a misleading sign saying their yarn was 9.99 but kept getting ringed up at 34.99. There is no sign stating it's 9.99. You can see in the photo below. I asked if they could honor it due to the signage being misleading and incorrect. Instead of responding nicely, she was rude and grouchy. Kira decided to also sweep the dirt at me. So I'd ask her "so you sweep dirt at your customers too?" And she didn't respond and stopped sweeping so hard. Clearly, if you don't want to work with people, it is not the job for you. One of the employees have told us that she has her days when she's grouchy. It does not mean you take it out on people. read more

I'm so disappointed in Michaels customer service this afternoon. The manager Alexis G. Had such a horrible attitude. Rolling her eyes and not initiating to go above and beyond as i struggled at the register to pull up my coupon. When i asked what they are, she said I don't know ‍. When i had to step out of store to try to obtain better internet service, she rolled her eyes again. Fortunately, Edith did assist me with much better attitude. Additionally, the aisles to exit to cashiers is clearly not COVID friendly. The width of the aisle where the customers pay is shorter than than the side you wait through. I'm a frequent shopper and have invested thousands in craft supplies over the years in Michaels. However, this continued poor customer service will keep me out of this store to shop elsewhere online. read more

I recently just moved to Livermore from Dublin, and I have to say that this I like this location soo much more than the Dublin branch! Everything is so organized and easy to find. I also noticed that their clearance section lasts a lot longer than the one in Dublin (less busy location?). I bought a large foam board for my sons math project because that's all they had: Me (at cashier): hi, can I get someone to cut this in half? I only need half but I'll buy the whole thing. Cashier: no. Me: no? Nobody can just take a Box cutter or paper cutter and cut it? Cashier: no. We don't do that sort of thing here. Me: okay? Well that's the dumbest thing I've heard. Cashier: why? Me: why?? Well... there a framing department, they cut mats and photos. You're a craft/ art supply store. So someone can't just swipe an exact-o knife across it and I can bend it and pull it apart? Skip using them for shipping your UPS, worst experience ever. I dropped off my package December 17th, "before" the UPS driver gets to the store. I kept checking for updates, with no success. I was patient figuring "its the holidays". When Dec. 24th rolled around and still updated tracking, I went to the store. I went into the Classroom(being used as shipping station) with the keyholder, (a really nice younger lady)Only to find my package sitting on one of the tables!! As I looked over and saw it, she proceeded to tell me that those packages where not a part of out going!! Needless to say I was livid, and exclaimed "that's my package, I dropped it off on December 17th! and here it is still sitting on a pile of boxes", clearly placed in the wrong pile. Note to self and to anyone who reads this post to the end, Michael's is not UPS! Michael's, your Classroom/BOPUIS/Shipping station looked so unorganized it was pathetic. Stick to what you know, CRAFTS..YOU ARE A CRAFT STORE. Maybe if they paid their employees better, they would have better training!! After starting a knitting project that I was working on, I ran out of yarn. I went to my local Antioch Michaels as well as Pleasant Hill and they were out of the color that I needed. I called around and talked to the store manager of Livermore, Jessica. She not only found the yarn for me that I was looking for, but actually drove it out to my local Antioch store to make it more convenient for me. They never honor the price in the ads. The only site said that the price IN STORE was 70% and the canvas was marked at 50% off. I had been to the Dublin location earlier and they only had 3 and I needed 5 canvases. The Dublin location had the correct price (the price that matched the online and in store doorbuster price). However, when I went to the Livermore location the employee said no. I showed her the Michaels.com site that clearly said that in store the canvases were supposed to be 70% off. I even showed her my receipt from the Dublin location. Nope, she did not honor the price and I didn't end up buying the canvases. I returned my Dublin purchase as well because I needed 5 matching canvases. I ended up going to Amazon where it was even cheaper. read more
